Went here after my massage to treat myself. Pros The salon was clean and quiet. There were plenty of nail colors. Staff seemed friendly. Cons my cuticles were cut dry, nails were not same length, powder does not look smooth on the nails, after 8 days nail cracked. After just a few days my Middle finger nail the edge broke off and I had to file it down. For 55$ I am disappointed to say the least. Dip powder should last around 3'weeks. I received a very good pedicure. Vicki did a fine job. She took time with me, including foot and leg message. The polish job I received was more than acceptable. I liked the place. It is large, clean and incredibly well supplied with nail polishes in various colors from at least 6 different vendors. In short, I will return. Good gel pedicure, terrible foot massage. Added a 10 min massage on and it was the lightest pressure I've ever felt in a massage. She mostly just ran her gloved hands over my lotioned up feet and calves. In no world is the massage worth their price point, but the pedicure IS good. Getting a pedicure here was a delight. It is quiet, clean and feels like an oasis in the middle of the Upper West Side. It's on Broadway between 81 and 82 so perfect place to stop before you go to Zabars or after walking around the Museum of Natural History. There is a sign on the door that says they were offering 20% off all services before 3:00 pm. Of course I arrived at 3:30 and my bare minimum (but wonderful) pedicure was $36. It took about half an hour total. They offer massages and callus treatments as add ons. They have massage chairs for pedicures so that kind of massage is free. I feel like Nail places never get a lot of reviews on Yelp. Got my nails done last minute at West Nail. Came in pretty close to closing and they were kind and still accommodated me. My nail tech Cindy even did a really good job at picking a color similar to what I showed her in the only super blurry picture I had. Everyone was nice and friendly. Other staff workers came around to look and were super smiley. My sister got her feet done and they removed all her calluses. The place had glass panels between nail stations for covid and all staff wore masks. It was a nice location and there were so many plants in the room, so it had a nice vibe as well. There are countless nail salons on the upper west... everywhere for that matter.... First and FOREMOST..... this nail salon has NO NAIL SALON SMELL! This is the most important thing I need to to say first. As soon as you walk in it smells so clean and pure, not one trace of chemical nail polish smell. Every other place I've walked into I've had to walk out. I can't sit with that smell. It's so soothing with lots of beautiful real plants on one side of the wall and greenery on the other side which makes it feel very pretty and soothing. The music is pretty to listen to in there as well. Second, all the people that work there. You are greeted by Kevin, who is always at the front! He is so friendly and welcoming, almost like he's making sure all the people that work inside are good. He's constantly checking to make sure the place is clean and running smooth and that everyone is doing ok, the customers and the staff. The staff on the nail salon side are so accommodating and very happy to do exactly what the customers want. I like my nails a very specific way and my best girl is Vicky. She takes her time, is very detail oriented and works with me every time to make sure my nails are perfect to my liking! I've watched other customers come in and ask for specific things, fun things, cool things, regular things, some people ask for a lot of things ("those people") and I've always watched the girls that work there VERY HAPPY to help in any way they can and try new things at the customers request! There is a very nice vibe amongst the girls that work there themselves which really makes a difference in the comfort of being there! The other important thing to know is the polish and job that they do is durable and stays well. I've never had any paint chip or nails break and I can actually go a FULL two weeks before I need to redo my nails and toes. I can't say enough good things about this salon! The other side is a massage parlor which I've already done a review about. Very professional, very comfortable and designed very well were it has an actual spa feel to it. Spacious, really clean (up to the ladies room!) and observed all Covid-19 protocols such as temp checks and social distancing through special barriers and spacing between customers. Very much appreciated. The Chinese guy/owner who took my app request was also really nice and professional. Sarah worked on both my pedicure and manicure and she was really good. Loved their special massage chairs for a proper pedicure, I opted for the foot spa option and chose the olive scent which turned out to be a great choice. My feet was super bright, soft and smooth after. Sarah also gave a great foot massage as included in my option. As for my gel manicure, she was efficient and detail oriented. My nails are still looking as good as it looked 5 days before, when I had all these. Really impressed by the salon and Sarah and the staff. Hopefully they get to keep the quality consistent! Why are you making the Groupon coupon available if you don't prefer for your customers to use it? Groupon deals are there for us to purchase ahead time of so that when we go there to get the service we have nothing to worry about but enjoy the service and appropriately tip the nail technician. Great place for a basic manicure. DO NOT ask them to do anything more. They will tell you they can do it but they cannot. I asked for simple flowers on two nails on each hand. That was $15 extra. Not a bad price. However, the flowers look like a kindergartner drew them on me. They are so far from looking professional. I don't understand how the technician felt comfortable charging me full price with how they looked. I paid $68 in total for nails that I immediately scheduled an appointment at a different salon to fix. Absolutely ridiculous. The petals are all uneven, the centers aren't round, the technician insisted on using a brush instead of the dot tool for whatever reason for everything. Bad bad bad. Definitely not worth my money. I wish I would have stopped her. I felt too bad and didn't want to hurt her feelings, but this is unacceptable. I loved how accommodating they were! I made an appointment but, due to traffic I was 30 minutes behind. Originally, I was told I would have to do the mani-pedi part of my Groupon on another day yet, they were able to accommodate me for both the massage and main-pedi. The massage was great and I highly recommend it! Great pressure distribution, use of hot stones, oil; everything was amazing! The mani-pedi was also great! I also loved that they notified me that the polish I selected (Zoya) was 2 extra dollars before painting my nails so I wasn't surprised by the add on charge ( I also didn't read the sign so that was on me). Found this place through some random online searches and it had the highest rating of all the local salons, so of course I made an appointment! I now understand why it's rated so highly. They're taking more health and safety precautions than other places I've been to (my temperature was checked upon arrival, they document all customers' temperatures regularly, plastic shields, lots of sanitizing). My manicurist was also super attentive and my gel manicure/regular pedicure look great! My only comment is the price differs slightly than what is listed on the website, but I already expected this may be the case since most other salons are increasing their prices to account for extra sanitizing. I have been coming here exclusively for 2 years and love the deals they offer during the week. The facility is clean and there are lots of color options. However the past three visits have put me off. After the first visit my gel manicure peeled off the next day... I came back and they were happy to fix the nails that peeled off. Then the others peeled off in the following days. The next visit I left bleeding all over my hands and had chips that I had to come back the next day to fix. They were happy to fix again. Then this past week I came in for chrome nails. The nail tech was confused when I asked for this, which should have been my sign to just get regular gel. It took 2 hours. I left with sparkly nails instead of chrome but it was fine. They looked fine. A day later, all of the sparkles came off leaving my nails looking horrid. They ended up peeling off after 7 days.
