Well, how should I rate this store? Came in over the holiday weekend, thirsty and trying to get a drink. There wasn't a single soul in the store at the time. The store didn't look particularly clean. Didn't really like anything on their menu. Then I noticed the Peach drink as a new menu item. Checked with my daughter and she also wants to try the peach flavor boba drink. My husband took me to Pengo and it was so good! Parking was easy, friendly people, and best of all - quick! He got me the banana matcha (my favorite) and it tasted perfect! I stopped by Pengo to fulfill my boba craving. Overall a good experience. I enjoy their teas; I do wish they had more options of fruit teas. I got the Jasmine Milk tea ($6.25) with boba (additional $1.00) - the flavor is good; not too sweet. They have one size of cup; I believe 24 oz. I do think their prices are little more on the expensive side. But overall still good. They do have a rewards program so that helps. I really love the new improvements and additions to Pengo recently. My friends and I had a blast playing with the claw machines and even won a Hello Kitty plush for my friend! The coffee latte has always been a staple of mine, it's absolutely delicious and I'm so happy the recipe has remained the same. I haven't had the matcha in a while because they changed their recipe awhile back and I wasn't a huge fan of the change. Recently, I've been tempted to try it again because the quality looks really nice when I see others receiving their order. The staff here is always very friendly to my dog and I. I try to be mindful of my dog's presence in the store since I live in LA now and come to Pengo every time I visit OC and my dog is always with me. The staff is always very kind to us and are always happy to give her a lil pup cup which brings so much joy to our day. I truly love this place so much. It has such a special place in my heart. Covid was such a difficult time for me and Pengo is one of the few pleasant memories I have during that time. My dog and I would start our day by grabbing a matcha latte or coffee latte and walking around Pengo to get out of isolation. I feel so grateful that this business not only survived covid, but expanded to different locations and continues to expand. We were there just briefly, but it was very inviting inside and they even had games available to take to your table for some fun. Parking was fairly easy on a Sunday late afternoon, it didn't seem like a high-traffic center. Presentation was simple with everything separated. I was surprised how big they were, as this was the regular size (perhaps there was only one size for these drinks in particular?). I got mine with almond-milk to make it dairy free (and boyfriend got coffee boba with the same). Boba was warm and I thought it would heat the drink, but just the right amount of ice kept it cool and I didn't notice it being watered down at all. Admittedly, I usually like my matcha with a little sweetener/flavor in it, and my first sip I noticed how traditional it was. With that said. BLOWN AWAY after a third sip with the boba. The boba had perfectly cooled and the texture and sweetness was a perfect addition to the drink! Pengo is always such a staple in the South OC area! They've expanded to other parts of South OC, but this location is the original one. Parking is easily accessible within the plaza. I was always drawn to their appeal of staying open until 10 pm, having a cute atmosphere and SoCal penguin mascot, and of course their reusable glass cups that used to come with every purchase. I've previously had their house special milk tea with their boba which was always a solid choice. They have lots of different milk teas, blended milk teas, premium fruit teas, milkshakes and even macarons and other food items. I actually won an Instagram giveaway in which I recently received a Pengo hoodie, free drink of choice and an entrance in the raffle giveaway to more prizes which was pretty cool. They only had large black hoodies left, but free is free. The staff is pretty friendly and they helped me decide on my free drink. I'm addition to the regular milk teas (their Jasmine milk tea is fantastic and their boba is really fresh!) they offer sparkling water based drinks with chia (you can get it without chia) that are a mixture of different fruit (you see the real fruit floating in it like pieces of mango, raspberry, etc). Hands down, Pengo would be my go-to spot if it was closer to me. I have literally loved all the drinks I've tried so far & this is the one spot, I actively make an effort to try something new. The fact that I occasionally drive an hour to study here, should speak for itself (esp. as someone who despises driving). Inside Pengo, you'll find plenty of seating, fast wifi (loved the board hung on the wall with wifi info) & even a free printer which is easy to use! Although I wish they had more outlets, it's not terrible. The music/noise level was just right (it does seem like a popular spot, so there might be times when it gets busy) and the staff were super friendly!! During last weekend's visit to Orange County, we cut short our shenanigans at Disneyland on Friday because of the steady rain that made us cold and wet. While the wifey and I were gallivanting to a local spot for pizza, my better half wanted to surprise the kids with some boba from Pengo Drink Station. Despite the high rating and high number of reviews, our experience was just okay for several reasons. Pengo is a chain and has several locations throughout the OC. This location can be found in Laguna Hills specifically one of the businesses within the Courtyard at La Paz Shopping Center. Besides Pengo, you can also find Dunkin Donuts, Flamingos Mexican Grill, Second Reef Deli, Greek Bistro, and Rolls Ice Cream. As you enter Pengo, the color scheme is bright yellow and light blue; there are multiple painted penguins on their walls; lighted Save The Earth display with rows of cups, bottles, and other decor; and inspirational verbiage artwork. My wife and I placed our order for our family of four. As we were waiting, other customers ordered, but these customers got their drinks before we did. I had to ask one of the employees why our drinks were taking long and why other customers who ordered after us were enjoying their drinks before us. When our drinks were finally finished, we did get an apology for the delay, but our long wait caused us to deliver cold pizza to our kids. My family and I are boba aficionados, so we were looking forward to our first time experience at Pengo. My wife particularly was looking forward to tasting the drink she had seen on Instagram, but she tried explaining to the young man about her drink and he really didn't know what she was talking about. Maybe showing the pics of the drinks she wanted would have made it easier for the employee. My wife and kids' drinks were okay, but my wife added honey boba and they were left out of their drinks. As I perused the menu, I saw under their Smoothie & Slush category that one of their choices was Mangonada. The Mangonada is described as a mango slush with chamoy and tajin. I've had Chamangos at Fruterias in San Diego and I can assure you that Chamangos are so much tastier than Pengo's Mangonada. The Mangonada was tart and had some semblance of mango, but I was underwhelmed by the drink. Besides wanting to surprise our kids with some boba drinks, we also wanted to order boba drinks to wash down the pizza we ordered.
