Browns was recommended to me to fix my pool heater. The current PVC pipes were leaking. So they sent out a crew who ended up leaving, not before making the leak worse, and saying they will not be charging me. I then get a call from the office to pay a bill. For what, you said no charge, the girl said oh ya I see what they wrote. They did not fix the leak. They made it worse. She says she will get back to me. Mean while my the PVC is Still leaking. Another week goes by. I get the same call, this time the girl tells me she will get me back on the schedule. I don't hear anything until today. I get a text telling me to pay. The guys that came out to our home broke our electrical rod by dragging the tarp all over it and muddying up everything. They put chemicals in even though the pump wouldn't run because they broke the power source, and they didn't install the ladder as they were supposed to. Trying to speak with them was difficult because they didn't speak a lot of English-one guy wouldn't talk or reply at all. I'm so upset. Follow up, warranty, and service are words not known by these folks. "The oldest pool company in Georgia", didn't get that way with the staff of present day. The pool construction project manager (PM) has no respect for his customers. I would think that in the last 3 months, someone that we talked to would have told someone higher than the PM. They all act scared of him. Which is hilarious! All I want is for Brown's Pools to fulfill their obligation, as I did when I paid them. I would assume that @$51K could buy at minimum, a call back from an Owner. They might be the oldest but they are certainly not good. If the Owner cared a bit, they would call me and discuss. As of yet, we have heard nothing. Just because I have a warranty, doesn't mean you get to take a year to complete. And Vince, when you call a MAN, expect that MAN to speak like a MAN. I had Brown's install a pool for us 4 years ago. The installation was not a great experience, but trying to get them to service the pool was even worse! No one will call you back. Last week my filter motor broke and I called to see if they could come and replace it. Not even a call back. I was driving to the grocery and saw a Pool Rx truck based in Carrollton and thought maybe they could help me. I called on Wednesday, had a diagnostic technician here on Friday, estimate to fix on Monday and technicians repaired on Wednesday. It was magnificent! I have been a pool owner for over 25 years in New York. I recently moved to Douglasville, Ga, and needed a backwash hose for my new pool. This Brown's pool and spa wanted to charge me $95 for a 100-foot. Heavy duty hose, which is also sold on Amazon for about $41. I approached them to show the same Blue Torrent brand, and they told me its more expensive because you don't have to wait for an online store, like Amazon deliver it. Then they wanted to offer me a 10% discount. Please, people do not shop there. I'm not sure if they thought we were stupid, but we've had to deal with scams con artists and drifters our entire life in NYC. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, in any state. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE THIEVES. We had issues from the very beginning but because they are one of the few services in town, we sucked up our pride and went with them. The only redeeming quality, we thought, was that the technicians were good. FALSE. We fired them two weeks ago, bought our own equipment (vacuum, chemical tester) and today when we went to add chemicals that we bought when we moved in 8 months ago and opened/used ONE TIME....they were empty. They've used OUR chemicals and have been charging us for chemicals. We have ALL the receipts. Don't even get me started on their questionable billing practices and horrendous customer service. Ripped me off. Guaranteed they would know it was a faulty mother board before they replaced. $1000 later turns out it was the T cell. I have been fighting with them for months about it. Everytime they tell me they will get back with me in a couple days and NEVER do. Then another demand letter arrives. This goes for service manager Rick (or Rich) and the big boss Tim. Rick says it was fair because he waived the service fee for the second visit, only a couple days later. How gracious of you to waive the fee since you DIDN'T repair it! I have texts of all this and happy to provide anyone before you use them for service. Go elsewhere. I'll be following up with the CEO of the company if possible. read more

Please be aware and see attached photos before choosing this pool service for any needs. They do not respond very well to phone calls nor emails. They have poor customer service and lack in professionalism altogether. We wanted to keep the business within the community to honor local businesses, that has not been a delightful experience to say the least. After spending over 100K on your "dream" backyard and pool, it has turned into a nightmare. We haven't had two full summers since installed. No "ownership" and very poor communication on rectifying the problem. When they come out and survey your property, give their professional expertise on where and how to place the pool... Location, retaining wall, which trees need to come down, clearing, grading etc... They should know what they're doing. The property owners are the buyers, not experienced in pool placement nor installation so you are taking them at their word and professional services. Still waiting on them to give an exact date and time when they will come address our "floated" liner. We can't clean the pool for the wrinkles. The tanning ledge has now floated outside of the pool and in some areas have no water on it at all, the walls are all bubbled out, and you can't even make out the "once was" steps going into the pool on the shallow end. It is a total disappointment to say the least. It is a shame that an establishment is so unprofessional and does not honor nor respect their work enough to go the "extra" mile for their customers. Yes, we have a pool now. Here's what that one project involved: 1. They ran over our water meter box and broke it and never called back to offer to replace it after we left a message immediately upon finding it broken. 2. They did not pack the gravel hard enough under the epoxy pool, so now it feels hollow when you step onto the shallow-end platform. 3. They piled dirt against trees after we asked project manager to his face not to do so, which resulted in our having to cut down hardwoods. 4. The project manager threatened to pull the crew from the site after we repeatedly asked the crew manager (who was hotheaded and always acted hungover) how the concrete pool deck would be designed. Project manager told us that it would be "the way he wanted it." After we protested, they told us that the concrete in one area would be poured up against the siding of our new house, and in another area the concrete would be sloping downwards toward the house. We protested again, was yelled at, and told that we could not have a channel drain installed in the latter area to catch water before it ran up against the house. So we had to buy a channel drain and ask the crew to install it while the crew manager was away doing whatever he was doing. The project manager told us beforehand that, if there was a drainage problem with the concrete pour, they "would come back and saw into the concrete to put a drain in." Because that's easier--running a concrete saw and chiseling out chunks of set concrete? For the record, every time it rains, that channel drain keeps our house from being flooded by the pool deck which is one inch higher than the house slab. 5. Crew manager showed up for concrete pour, lost control of wheelbarrow, dumped a full wheelbarrow's worth of concrete into water-filled pool, and left without helping crew clean it out. Crew cleaned out a lot, but the detail crew showed up later in the week and found concrete in the bottom which no one told them about before they came to the site. They shook their heads when they found the state the pool was in. They also had to try to clean concrete smears off the siding, which doesn't work after it's been set for over a day. Gravel and cement were still in bottom of pool after detail crew left. 6. Never offered to schedule a time to meet. Showed up whenever they wanted. 7. The dismissive attitude of the project manager towards us at the beginning blossomed into the theme of the whole project, and, when this was mentioned to a someone in the office, she replied, "...he's like that." read more

Had my in ground pool refinished by Brown's. The job performance was average yet the price was a premium. The average performance was due to poor scheduling and communication. I was told workers would be there a specific day and they never showed up. Then when I was told they would be there in three days, they showed up the next morning. Also my garage was blocked for three weeks because material needed was in the way. It took that long because of the poor scheduling. The weather was mostly nice and dry over the four months it took to finish the pool. I had to constantly call or message Brown's to find out what is happening next. In addition a water can, and a gate lock went missing with no apology by Browns. I cannot rate Browns lower because the end product met all expectations. The folks who showed up on site were very nice and knew what they were doing. The pool is beautiful. read more

I have been a customer for a number of years and the completed a pool remodel for me about 18 months ago. I have spent $2000 digging up and repairing leaks in the lines since that remodel and I currently have a leak in where the water leaks down below the skimmer (the skimmer was relocated as part of the remodel). David Brown came out explained what needed to be done, we picked out the new liner and they came out and took the old one out , put in an additional drain and finished it in 2 days and it's beautiful! Would give less stars if possible. Horrible customer service. Paid them to close my inground pool with proper chemicals. When they came to open it, it was swamp green. They opened the pool last week and changed the sand in my filter. The pipes are leaking, the filter isn't running properly, I have to backwash 5 times a day to keep the jets going, and they broke my pressure gauge. Spent $634 on labor and $180 on chemicals only to have a pool that won't run properly and looks horrible. Called to get someone out to fix the situation and they said that they are tto busy and it would be at least 10 days!!!! Customer satisfaction is not a priority at Brown's. read more

I was a customer for years. Bought my pool from them had them put it up. When I moved I brought my pool had Brown's pools put it back up around April the year I moved. A tree fell on my pool and destroyed it. I bought a new pool but not from Brown's pools. I called them a few weeks ago to hire Brown's pools to put it up. They told me since I didn't buy from them they couldn't come before July in case they got busy. I was a customer for over ten years, spent 1000's of dollars in there, but they refused. Possible new customers matter more than actual customers. Very bad customer service, no appreciation of loyal customers. I'll never go back again. Hired someone else and it cost last. read more

set up a pool opening with Browns, as I have done in previous years, but this time was really bad. They came out and didn't lower the water level so that the skimmer is effective, didn't put the rope divider back up, didn't brush the water line, and charged about $70 more than last year. Just came to the Hiram location in person and although there are several pools out front and plenty of staff onsite, was told that no salesperson works in the store and I would have to call and schedule a time. The employees at Brown's are always professional. We have been dealing with them for the 8 years we have had our pool that was originally installed by them 15 years ago. They replaced the liner this year & their workers were very nice & professional. Jason & Jackson are hard workers and very patience with all my questions. Browns is one of those established stores that over time allows their time in the business make them think they're better than anyone else. Pool water testing is hit or miss and honestly they seem more concerned with what they're having for lunch than testing my water and helping me. If you find a good employee, you better latch on and only use them from then on. Most of the time, you feel everything is for an up sale and not really to solve your issue. Just had my above ground pool replaced after having the old one for 10 to 15 years. Was replaced on June 1st of 2018 pool was open for 3 months of use. Liner did not look right Finally got in touch with Harold who came out and took pictures then got a reply from Mike saying it was because of the rain... Brown's pools is very helpful for analyzing the water quality of our pool and hot tub. Their prices are cheaper than what I've found online for many pool chemicals. Since they are busy, especially on weekends, we usually have to wait quite a while to get our water tested. I recommend going during week days instead. However, they really know what they are dong and offer helpful tips and advice about keeping the pool and hot tub looking great. read more

I wish I could give NO stars! I'm typically not one to write a bad review but after this year we will NO longer use Browns. We've been using them since 2016. We decided to try something different this year and have Browns open our pool for us, big mistake! May 2nd Browns came out to open our pool(normally we do it ourselves with no problem), I was advised to take a pool sample back within a week if my water didn't look any better. I took a sample in, and was given 1/2 the chemicals my sheet said I needed. I didn't question, I just did what they said and went on. Fast forward a week or so later and I reached out to the manager. Yet again I was told to bring in another sample. We were given the EXACT same chemicals from a week or so again, AND not everything that the sheet called for. While dealing with the manager, the girls in the store decided to be childish and talk about me as I'm standing there! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I decided to switch stores and go to the Hiram location. I dealt with Penny from day one and she was very helpful. Unfortunately we were given only 1 chemical the sheet called for. I originally thought Browns knew what they were talking about and possibly wanted to help us save some money and just kept doing what they said. MAN I WAS WRONG! I went 3 times within a week and still no change. My husband and I decided to reach out to a pool maintenance man, he advised us they were trying to cover the problem up vs fixing the problem. Needless to say had we have not gave up on Browns and kept going weekly like we had been, we would have just been throwing even more money out the door. We decided to try Leslies in Douglasville. Note: Its July and our pool has NOT changed or got any better at this point. We took a sample to Leslies July 6th, and last night/early morning we can already see a HUGE difference in our pool! Tuesday was the first time anyone at the pool store gave us everything on the sheet and said "You're pool will be clear after this!" Save yourself the time and money and go to Leslies! read more

RUN!!!! Paid for a pool to be installed on 6/9/18. Was given the date of 7/3/18. Spoke to someone about the installation 3 different times on the phone and three different times in person. Guy shows up on 7/3 to install a liner only!!! After speaking w Cheryl, Nate, and Tim.... with NO HELP!!!!!! Was told I could pay another 700$ and they would come out in 2 more weeks!!!!! My husband scheduled weekly pool cleaning, he was told to complete the contract which was given to me. I completed the contract decided to go into the office rather than fax because my credit card info was on the paperwork. The employees were clueless. After several minutes of going around and around because the lady that does scheduling is in another facility she sent me there for them to process my payment. Needless to say it was finally completed we were supposed to be serviced Thursday I called to confirm and was told it was to be Wednesday they never came, on Thursday we received and email stating they would come that day they never came nor did they follow up. On Friday I sent an email to cancel all service, they never replied I called into the office was placed on hold then told yeah they cancelled and they never received a contract. I explained it was in the Douglasville office, their response yeah its cancelled. They all need a class on Professionalism, Etiquette and basic customer service. read more

The store employees are knowledgeable but the maintance department is unreliable . The management staff in maintance are rude and never available until you ask for a manager. I have used Browns for 8 years until now. One employee/manager changed my views regarding the business. After speaking to another manager about the rude employee I was treated as if I was the problem. When a customer is quoted a price for a job it should be honored not "that was mistake but not our mistake". I have never been treated as poorly until now. I didn't ask for anything free justto admit the mistake and apologize. read more
