I really enjoyed my dinner here to celebrate a birthday. We were seated in the half booth, half chairs table, and although there were customers beside and around us and the hockey game on the TVs, it was not noisy for our conversation. I shared the potato-crusted cod bowl and tuna poke bowl and they were nice to split it and gave us two plates. It worked out well as the portion sizes seemed larger this way. The poke bowl had vegetables, tuna, and rice and was tasty. The cowboy salad in the cod dish was so good. I could eat the salad every day! The service was excellent. Was a quiet afternoon so we could hear each other talking, which was pretty nice. I had the feature burger, Queso jalapeño burger with fries. Easy find with Google Maps. You can see it from the main road. Lots of parking in the communal strip-mall parking lot. Has a patio but was too hot today. Inside is pretty trendy and upscale. Waitress was great and happy to answer our questions about the menu. I got the Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich with house salad. Burger was HUGE. Like picture pretty huge but too big to actually be able to eat big. Lots of nice juicy crispy chicken. Loved the breading. lots of good sauce. Nice bun. 9/10 good. Salad was also really tasty and happy with same. $22. Friend wanted chicken wings but the menu only offers "classic hot wings" waitress was able to confirm they could do Salt and Pepper flavor. 12 wings for $18.50. Friend was very happy with these. She also got a side of jam fries for $10. Fries were fresh and hot. Another friend got the Dragon Bowl and loved it. Very happy with all the flavors and portion. Overall everyone was super happy with their food but it is a tad price-ier but these days I guess that's pretty normal! read more

The Brown's patio is also great when you want to be outside/on a patio but aren't sure if the weather will cooperate. It's semi-enclosed which protects from wind but still allows for optimal patio enjoyment. The food is always consistent. Kung Pao Lettuce Wraps had good flavour and are surprisingly filling. The Chicken Alfredo was a large portion and very tasty. We also enjoyed the Crispy Cauliflower (not pictured) which was lightly breaded and a great starter! Our server was Emma. She was pleasant and kind and attentive. She told us about the special on Stella ($1 off). I ordered fish tacos with fries and gravy, my friend ordered a burger (forgot which one) with fries and gravy. Both our meals were amazing!!!!! I love their fish tacos. I would give this a 3.5 for a few reasons. This restaurant has a fun, cool vibe. The food is tasty, there is a great variety of drinks and it's a chill place for a night out. My beef dip was delicious and I loved the bacon jam on it. What fell short was my friend's gyoza cape out burnt on the bottom. They had no more apparently so she had to choose another dish. They did comp that for her which was appreciated. I also really dislike when a server is coming off shift and makes you feel like you need to clear the bill, and then tells you that you can stay to finish your drinks. She was actually lovely, but it always feels so awkward. We would have stayed for another couple drinks. Kudos to the manager though who did come out after to ask if we needed more drinks or anything else. read more

I've been to Browns about four times now as it's become a regular spot on dates with the husband. Every time they have provided consistent high quality pub style food with great service. Prices are bit more then what you'd might pay then going to say Boston Pizza but I feel the quality of food makes it worth the cost. We came to check out Brown Socialhouse after our friend started working here. We like to be able to show our support! I had never been one of the Brown's establishments before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I assumed something close to Original Joe's or another restaurant along those lines, but there were no real similarities here. Walking in, you walk through a patio space, which can be used in both the warmer and colder months. They have comfy seating and even a couch with a fireplace table for you to enjoy some time with your favourite people next to. We opted to sit inside the night we visited, but I would like to check out the patio the next time! The interior of the restaurant has a very modern feel to it. I loved all the neon signs and photos hung up around the restaurant with witty plaques sharing the connection to the restaurant. We ended up sitting on the lounge side, but it was still pretty quiet for a bar considering there were multiple hockey games on that night. Now it was time to order some drinks and food! I opted to order the Social Palmer while M chose the Social Soda. When the drinks arrived and we tried them, it wasn't hard to understand why they are both so popular. The Social Palmer is the sweeter of the two and is garnished with lots of fresh berries, where the Social Soda is more of a dry drink, but still delicious in its own right. When it came down to food, I knew I had to try the Hickory Burger! A hand-pressed beef patty topped with BBQ sauce, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato? They had my number! I paired it with their yam fries as a side and was good to go. M ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl, which comes complete with rice, fresh veggies, and avocado, and was excited to try it. Oh. Em. Gee! With the first bite of our meals, we were hooked. The burger had all the right flavour profiles, and the patty itself was moist and delicious. M didn't have any complaints about his meal either other than it was so good, he wanted another! I definitely suggest trying out Brown Socialhouse. You won't be disappointed! read more

It wad one of the best meal i had after coming to canada. Crispy chicken Taco: Soft Taco filled with guacamole, pico de gallo mixed with chipotle aioli and sprinkled with cilantro cabbage accompanied by french fries is a perfect starter to start your meal here. I went for lunch at this location and ordered the "sushi & salad." I've ordered the dynamite rolls a million times before, I absolutely love them. The "signature crunch salad" was new to me. This salad was unforgettably horrid. That might sound melodramatic but I'm telling you I have never tasted a more bitter salad in all my years. Forget the few rotten lettuce bits thrown in, but why put so much bitter ADULT kale in there? Adult kale is incredibly tough and unpalatable to eat raw. There were other odd leafy greens in the salad that were indistinguishable and a poor choice to add in. The salad dressing was scarcely drizzled on, which was fine because it wasn't pleasant-tasting either. So here's the kicker okay. I take 4 bites and decide I cannot possibly eat any more of this salad. The server comes by and asks if I want to box it up. I say no. She leaves and comes by again later asking if there was a problem with the salad. I was polite, but honest about what my thoughts were. She nods and then returns with my bill - no discount, no coupon, no sad face with a tear drawn on the bill - nada. Just a full priced bill. Why even ask what my thoughts were about the salad? This has been my go to place when I want to meet up with friends for a bite and drinks by me. I wanted to up the rating to another star due to tonight. We decided to come here to end the night after supper elsewhere, for some drinks and desserts. One of the three drinks came first, as well as the desserts. We didn't think much of this, but the waitress apologized about the delay of the two other drinks. After about 5 or so minutes the drinks did arrived and another apology from the waitress, as well we were told the manager had mentioned the round of drinks were on the house due to the wait. I want to say that my friends and I didn't complain or really viewed it as a big issue. So this was very unexpected and also appreciated. This is why I keep coming back here. Friendly waitress' and great management who care. Other places should take note. Brown's Social House you should be very proud of the people you have working here! I wish there was an option for zero stars. Ordered a $57 dollar meal over skip the dish. Order arrived, everything was fine until after eating a couple of the dry ribs we noticed that they were completely RAW. Called the manager at the Albany location, Dave, told him the story. He said sorry nothing I can do. All I was looking for was a refund for a terrible experience. An easy $50 fix for Dave. Not a chance, he said there was no way I was correct (Dave stated they use timers, so I had to be wrong -- pictures don't lie Dave, even though you think I did) that the food was raw and that if I was worried about food poisoning feel free to call the centre for foodborne illness. Are you kidding me? This how you deal with potential food poisoning you caused? Unless you want to get food poisoning that good ole Dave makes you pay for, avoid this place like the plague. Skip The Dishes gave me $13, but Browns wasn't willing to give me anything for ruining our dinner (all I wanted was the cost of our order refunded) and putting my family in danger of food poisoning. Brown Socialhouse on the north end has just opened. The restaurant was easy to find with good parking space in the commercial development north of 167 Ave and 127 Street. When entering you are in an enclosed patio area that feels more like an atrium with relaxing features like a fire place and more laid back furniture. It's enclosed in a glass sun room so it will be accessible during the winter months. I found this to be the first time a business designed a patio that would serve our climate better. Very smart. You then enter another set of doors to a vestibule and then another set of doors to the indoor bar on your right and formal seating to your left. I was there for my friends birthday and it was a large group. The reservation included a small booth close by for the children and four tables together for the adults. This worked out extremely well for us. The children were all 7 years old and up and amused themselves without bothering anyone else. This was also the first time I've seen this done. The atmosphere was dark, rich earthy tones with an industrial feel to it and geometrical designs. I felt very relaxed and really enjoyed the attention to details. The menu was very limited on plant based foods. However, I was told that the veggie burger was so good that even non-vegans came in specifically for it. The hamburgers are made and pressed in house and you could tell. The food presentation was excellent. A delicious burger wrapped in parchment paper and just the right amount of fries in a stainless steel container with parchment. The dill pickle wedge was a excellent garnish. The staff were friendly and pleasant. The only misstep was one order was very late. So one person in our group got his food after we were all done. Not much was offered other than an apology. The waitress split the bills with no fuss and did not push for us to leave any time soon. Overall I was impressed with the innovated patio and children's table. The food did live up to it's reputation. I would come here again, but would really like more plant based options or dishes that are easy to make plant based without sacrificing the taste. read more

Come here very often, 4x a month at least. Food is delicious has a homemade taste. Service is always amazing. Very friendly manager and staff. Today our waitress Sarah was exceptional. My Mother has a gluten alergy. Staff is fully aware as i mentioned we come here often. Our delicious bergers came out. Server Sarah didnt even let go of the plate when she noticed that the bun that was used was not gluten free. Right away she took the plate and discussed bringing out a new burger vs just a new bun. We went in looking for a steak sandwich, we walked in and were seated almost immediately. The lounge/bar area was where we decided we wanted to sit so that we could catch some sports. However the television was out of Service which they should have repaired/replaced immediately. Service was quick and the waitress was attentive and very polite. The chefs know how to cook a great steak but were stumped on how to baste an egg soft/medium (mine were over cooked) still not an issue. The food was packed full of flavor and we enjoyed our meal. I definitely will be back for more visits (date nights with my wonderful wife). The only criticism I can say about the place is that the bar is way too big for the space, I can see there being issues with a full bar that many people around the bar would be trapping the folks sitting in the booths. She has NO social skills whatsoever, doesn't interact with the customers....just sits in her back office. Good thing Ahmed is here tonight taking care of the entire front end on his own with no help from her. Was a very dedicated customer here for the last year and a half but will be cutting back my visits substantially (I usually frequent this location 5-7 times per week). OWNERSHIP NEEDS TO WAKE UP!! We ended up going and were told upon arrival that they seen the note and, "never put them on, and that they don't have the channel." Bull fucking shit! My buddies and I were at Brown's (Albany) twice before when they've had UFC on, to have a meal, and catch up. Once being back on February 29th, and the other being in June, or July. I never use Yelp, though I thought I had to for this shit experience. I also should mention that nobodies expecting all of your TV's to be changed. Bland, unseasoned, boring. It is beautifully presented, everything looks fresh and nice but it just...sucks. The hot wings were the only redeeming thing out of our dinner. Hubby ordered the chicken sandwich, it sounded delicious and it arrived looking fantastic and super crispy. Unfortunately it had zero flavour. He wasn't looking for 11 herbs and spices, just 2. Salt and pepper. The fries even sucked, they were soggy and totally undercooked and the gravy was gross. How do you f up fries? I had the poke tuna bowl and it was boring and bland. Tonight I ordered the blackened chicken bowl and was VERY DISAPPOINTED. The menu stated that there was a low carb option for an additional $3 or $4, so I asked for that. The waitress said they subbed the almond rice for a purple cabbage. The first bite of my 'low carb purple cabbage' was very very sweet. Apparently it's pickled in SUGAR, the waitress informed me on her return from the kitchen.The salad with the meal contained both black beans & corn and had a salad sweet dressing. Low carb means no grain, no sugar, no starchy vegetables. The person who developed the menu for Brown's Social House is very poorly educated with respect to low carb since their two 'low carb' entrees both are full of carbs. The second item was the potato crusted cod. Potatoes are Carbohydrates! The only thing low carb about this dish was the 3 oz bit of chicken which I did eat and it was tasty but not at all filling. The waitress did remove the additional cost for the low carb extra which was the least I thought she should do. I should have stayed with the wings or ribs. Lesson learned! read more

The staff here were excellent. We arrived with a big group and they were very polite. The food was well prepared and fresh. The portions are a bit on the small side and it is a bit expensive for what you get. The menu is pretty standard but they do have some interesting salads. The blackened chicken cowboy salad was quite good but as mentioned the portion size was on the small side, about $21 for the salad and a club soda. The patio was excellent however and the restaurant was clean and there was ample parking. read more

Been here three times now and the food never disappoints. You can order pretty much anything and its a safe bet I am told. The atmosphere is really neat. I dig the covered patio with couches and a fireplace and the pictures of the pugs on the wall. They do a good job and I normally dont dig franchises but they got my number. The Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl is super good. Its fresh, healthy (i assume)and tastes like you are eating a deconstructed sushi roll. I am a big fan. The chicken tacos were super good too. The only thing I dont like is the price point. Its kind of steep. But its nice to know that you are getting a consistently tasty and quality meal. All in all, this is a great social house. Not bad. The food is pretty good, as is the atmosphere. The customers sitting next to us got a steak not cooked to order so they waited a long time for a new one... like 15 mins. Our food turned out very yummy. We also ordered dessert which also turned out good. BUT the service was soooooo slow. Not sure if just short staffed but it took forever for our drinks and to get food ordered. The waitress was very friendly and personable so I think the just need more staff.
