I have been a customer of Brown Auto since 2016. They have worked on all of my BMWs, Porsche, Mercedes, Honda, Mini, etc etc. Point being I trust them with every car in my garage. James, at the front desk, is an excellent person to work with. I know all their employees by first name. They will honestly and accurately quote a price and will stick to it. No surprises. After having a bad experience next door at Valvoline instant oil change, I was able to get my 50 year old leaking vehicle to Browns who resolved this issue and a few others in a timely fashion. I took my car in to Brown's to have tires mounted on new rims and the TPS sensors swapped. They did a good job at a reasonable price but there was one tire leaking air because the rim was not sealed properly and I took it back about five weeks later and paid $30 which again wasn't unreasonable. So based on my OK experience I figured I'd give them a shot at a bigger job. I quoted having front struts put on my car, I informed the gentleman at the front desk that I knew the price of the struts and I knew exactly how long it takes to put in the struts and I would do it myself but I have a bad back. So I'm not sure why he quoted me over $1000 to do a $500-$600 job unless he just wanted to make $300 an hour for the labor. I prefer to do business with local businesses but that's the last time I'll go into Brown's. I had the job done professionally for under $600. read more

I stopped in at about 5pm yesterday because one of my tires wasn't holding air. The guy as the customer service desk was so nice to work with. I handed him my key and in about 15 minutes my tire was fixed. They weren't fast because it was slow in the shop, they were fast because they know what they are doing and how to manage the work/people coming in. Great energy in the shop and from over hearing others, they do honest, good work too. I will definitely recommend this shop to others and come back. read more

I had been losing tire pressure in my right rear tire finding myself in Chanhassen. I asked an auto parts store where a good place to fix it was and the recommended Brown's. I also had a tail light fail at the same time I replaced that in the parking lot then headed over to Brown's. I met Mr. Brown, they found the rusty nail, extracted it in and had my tire fixed in under 15 minutes for $20. read more

My car had a leaky tire last week. I dropped it off in the evening and by 10AM the next morning they called to say that they found a screw in the tire and it was fixed and ready. $25 was a very fair price for quick and reliable work. I've lived in Chanhassen for 20 years and Brown's Tire is my "go to" place for automotive repairs. They've done everything from an engine rebuild to fixing a dead battery. I never worry when i have car trouble because i know that they'll take care of it. They are prompt, keep in good contact about what they find, what they recommend, and when it'll be done. Their rates are always reasonable for the work. I trust Brown's completely in technical ability and in fair pricing. They are a nice thing about living in Chanhassen. read more

Honest and trust worthy. I have a son that lives nearby and I'm six hours away so i need someone i can count on to take care of his car. They take the worry out car repairs. I have had a few experiences with Brown's Tire and Auto. One positive, the other very negative. Positive experience: I got a quote from a dealership for suspension work. The owner took it upon himself to find a less expensive fix. End result was that I saved $500 in comparison to what the dealer would have chargeded me. Negative experience: My vehicle's engine was missing .... like bad spark plugs. I brought the vehicle in and asked them to check it out. Mentioned my concern about plugs possibly being bad. Diagnostics were done. I was called late afternoon and informed that my vehicle was fixed. I was charged in the $600 range. The Manager indicated a test drive was done. Drove away and my vehicle was still missing. I am a busy person so I brought it in another time. Left my vehicle for another day. Got a call and was told my vehicle was fixed. This time, the cost for supposed repair was in the $500 range. Drove away, it was better but still missed. After spending over $1,000 in parts replacement and labor, I was disturbed that my vehicle was not running right. Brought my vehicle to a recommended shop in Hutchinson. I expected to spend a day waiting for my vehicle to be repaired. 3 hours later, I got a call from the Hutch shop owner. He said your vehicle is fixed. He showed me the two bad spark plugs I had. Btw, spark plugs should be an easy diagnosis. Diagnostic machines will tell you which engine cylinders are not functioning correctly. An average technician should think plugs first before anything else. Brown's Auto was throwing parts at the vehicle in an attempt to fix it. I confronted Brown's Management about what had happen. Showed him a picture of the bad spark plugs. I was given $200 back out of the money I spent for the non-solution and two days without my vehicle. Not to mention there was no thank you for doing business with them and no offer of a free car wash after service (they own a car wash less than a block away). Interesting since they have several competitors within close proximity. I get people make mistakes. I certainly make mistakes. It's how you handle your mistakes that matter. If I had been treated fair after mistakes were admitted, I would have never written a negative review. Keep in mind, opportunities were given for fairness. I would have loved to write a fantastic review. read more

I went in with a tire going flat about a year ago and James at Brown's patched it up for me right away. He only charged $25. I had another flat tire this morning and went to Browns and I was happy to see James. He changed my tire and put on my spare (at no charge). He said he could have a tire for me on Monday. I highly recommend Brown's Auto, and you'll be lucky if you get James to service you. read more
