BEST ONION RINGS IN CINCY!!! While this place is obviously a burger joint - the onion rings are the big selling point for this place. My fiancé and I tried a wide range of items on the menu and it was all delicious! We started with the onion rings (obviously) and if you are a fan of fat onion rings that are mild in taste - look no further! It comes with homemade ketchup and it is delicious. Honestly, I would come here just for the drinks and the onion rings. As a cocktail, I got the botanist lemonade and it is a great option for any gin-lovers out there. It had guava puree in it so it was fruity, tart, and had a nice little kick from the gin. For the burgers, my fiancé got the BRU burger and I got the garlic three cheese. Both of these were pretty good and we added in some fries to our order. To finish off, we got the peach white chocolate bread pudding and this was to die for! I think the appetizers, drinks, and desserts are what take this place to the next level from any other burger place in the area. Had lunch here and while the waitress was friendly, she just was not a very good waitress. One order came out completely different than what was ordered. When it was brought to her attention, she seemed a bit embarrassed but didn't immediately offer to put the correct order in. We kept that wrong meal rather than waste it. A side dish was forgotten and we asked about it. It eventually came out. The service was just very slow and the place was empty. We thought maybe we wouldn't have been charged for the wrong food, but the bill came with full price for everything. read more

I like the way the place has changed over the years. The design was really slick and the artwork on the walls is a plus. I think they should've hired me to do the artwork but hey...... There is outside seating that reminded us of our travels abroad and tons of light. For a lunch crowd it was pretty good. My wife was the only person in the whole place with an alcoholic beverage lol. Wow this place is great!! Came here on a Thursday night whim and will definitely be taking friends here! Such a variety of burgers which was awesome. They were very accommodating with our questions and my request for a smashed burger. I got the garlic three cheese (aioli was sooo good) and my boyfriend got the bourbon. I went here once about a year ago and remembered it being pretty good, so when I was in Cincy a few days ago I figured I'd give it another try. The short answer is that the food was disappointing. The bun was hard as a brick and suspect it was stale (a huge no no for any place, but especially a burger joint). My husband and kids likewise voted the food a solid "meh." Great place for friends & casual hangout! The location is amazing, just a few steps from fountain square & right across from the contemporary art museum. Amazing! The food was so good. I got the juciest hamburger ever, and my sister got the chicken tenders which i tried and they were so good. The best kind of crispy, where its soft chicken, and the crisp isn't too hard either. Our waiter was super nice, I forgot his name but it was a dude so service is also a 5 star! My daughter-in-law and I had dinner at Bru yesterday evening before seeing a concert at the Taft Theatre. After being shown to our table and given menus our server, Tommy, came over right away to take our drink orders. We decided to put our appetizer order in at the same time. My daughter-in-law ordered the Fresh Brued Lemonade cocktail and I ordered a Manhattan. We ordered the Bru Board for our appetizer. We both thought our drinks were great! My daughter-in-law said her drink was refreshing and light. My Manhattan was prepared perfectly. The Bru Board was amazing! It was a feast for the eyes, as well as the belly. It was a beautiful display of cheese, meats, tomato jam, red onions and baguette slices. We both found it to be absolutely delicious and kept exclaiming how much we were enjoying it. My daughter-in-law even joked, "We aren't going to have a reenactment of that When Harry Met Sally restaurant scene, are we?!" That's how much we liked this appetizer. For the main part of our meal we both decided on burgers. I ordered the Provencal burger. My daughter-in-law ordered the Garlic-Three Cheese burger. We both ordered our burger cooked to medium. I like when restaurants give you a choice on how you like your burger cooked. Then you don't end up with an over-cooked, dried up tasteless burger. We decided on a side order of fries to share. The fries aren't that great. Neither of us really cared for them and did not eat much of them. I definitely would not order them again. Also, after a sizable appetizer and burgers, it was too much food. The homemade ketchup was really good, though. My daughter-in-law said the Garlic-Three Cheese burger was "the best burger" she's ever had. My Provencal burger was divine! That is... until I was barely half way through and I was stabbed in the roof of my mouth by something incredibly hard. I pulled the item out of my mouth and it was a piece of wood! We called over our waiter, who took my plate and got the manager, Andrea. The manager came over to our table right away. She went to the kitchen and talked to the chef to find out how it could have happened. I was told that it was likely a piece of the crate the mushrooms are shipped to the store in and that somehow a piece had chipped off and ended up in the mushrooms. Because of its size, and the mushrooms getting sautéed in a balsamic oil, that it must of blended in. Looking at it on the plate I could see how it would have possibly looked like a mushroom stem and was easily overlooked in the rush to prepare dishes. But it did stab the roof of my mouth pretty hard and my mouth is still tender and sore today. The manager handled it perfectly, though! She apologized profusely, gave me her card in case there is further issues with my mouth, and removed the burger from the bill. She also offered to bring me something else to eat. I declined, as we had a concert to get to a few blocks away and did not have time to wait for something to be prepared and time for me to eat it. Thankfully, the appetizer was hearty! When the bill came I was told that they also removed both of my drinks from the bill. I protested and told the server that I would pay for the drinks. But I was assured that I was not expected to pay for the burger or the drinks. I definitely made sure to tip based off what the original bill would have been without the deductions. The service was fantastic! Tommy was friendly, attentive and quick. And when I ordered my 2nd drink and it was taking awhile for the bartender to get to it because of how busy it got, Tommy got behind the bar and made the drink himself. That's good service! I also noticed the manager cleaning off tables and getting them ready for the next guests. The service and management at Bru are great! The food is also really good. Despite the unfortunate incident I had with my burger - I would definitely go back and dine at Bru again. read more

Went with friends after work. It wasn't crowded do seated immediately. The server was nice. He spoke with us, shared about menu and drinks. Nice music playing in the background and overall good atmosphere. I ordered a turkey burger with fries with an aioli sauce. I did ask that the burger be seasoned because sometimes people can mess up a good turkey burger. It didn't take long for the order. The burger was good. I love the fries that look fresh cut. I was able to eat everything on my plate. I didn't have room for dessert. The crowd started to pick up while there. It actually got fairly crowded as we were leaving. I had a good experience. I know it's technically a chain, but it doesn't feel like one and I was really impressed with my burger and the onion rings. I made a reservation for a Saturday night at 7. It was pretty busy when we got there so I was glad we reserved a table. The crowd had died down by the time we left a little after 8 though. The tea does not taste freshly brewed but out of a machine, the pretzel was pretty good with the beer cheese, the basic burger and fries were also good and I have no complaints. What makes this restaurant very unique is they have a "house" ketchup. I never been to a place with a house ketchup before so I thought this was very interesting. I did like the ketchup because it was less salty then store bought but it was also on the thicker side giving it a bit of chunky consistency. My husband was not a fan at all but I enjoyed it. It's definitely a sit down and enjoy yourself type of restaurant. I needed a quick lunch like think 15 minutes and sat at the bar attempting to get the quickest service possible. Bru Burger delivered! I ordered and paid all at the same time. Waited a few minutes for my food and was in and out when I needed to be. The bartender was friendly and kept my drink refilled and the atmosphere was quiet and comfortable on a weekday afternoon. I visited Bru Cincy to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. This location is really wonderful. It's located right behind Fountain Square and a block away from the Contemporary Art Center. We a made a reservation and were seated right away. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We ordered a glass of wine and a beer and started out with the jalapeño Mac and cheese. This appetizer was amazing. Cavatappi pasta (the kind shaped like corkscrew) is used and jalapeño cheese, shrimp, and sausage top it off. This is a must try when you dine here. We ordered the Mexicali BBQ burger to split. It is a burger topped with white queso, pickled jalapeño, guacamole, fried onions, house Chipolte bbq sauce, lettuce and tomato. I'll admit, the bbq sauce seemed like a weird topping, but our server encouraged us to give it a shot and I'm glad we did. It was really good. The onion rings were also super yummy! read more

Drove to Cincinnati to see Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, from Louisville. BRU burger is a two minute walk to the theater, hence great place to grab something to eat before the show. The place itself is warm and comfy yet more upscale than a simple burger place. The decor is sleek and modern. Of course burgers are the main attraction! We did however order some appetizers that were very nice. First there was the edamame hummus dip that was really good. First time having edamame hummus rather than garbanzo hummus but it worked!!!! Cool place with a nice outdoor patio. The staff is extremely friendly. I had tried the triple dip which was amazing. It was three different types of dips: whipped goat cheese, guac and edamame hummus (seemed like regular hummus to me though). Make sure you are with a lot of people when you get it though, it's pretty filling. Also got the farmstead burger. was a little disappointed with the lack of brussel sprouts though. The burger was still good, just not what I was looking for. It seemed like it had onions in it instead of brussel sprouts. Also got the bru buck. That was so tasty and perfect. Fairly impressed with BRU Burger! Went to BRU on a Friday night around 6pm and there was no wait. They do take reservations, but most of the tables were still open when we left. We ordered two types of salads (Buttermilk Codd and Gorgonberry Pecan) and they were delicious. The dressing was premixed into the salad which was nice, and the veggies were all fresh. They also offer blackened, grilled, or fried chicken as toppings which was a nice variety. One thing to note is that we ordered HALF salads, and the portions were still huge. The burger we ordered was actually our least favorite part of the meal. The patty was a bit bland and nothing really stood out to us. But it was still good nonetheless. Aside from the food, service was great. They had plenty of servers who were very attentive throughout the meal. They even offered us to-go cups for our sodas. The atmosphere of the building was also very edgy, especially with the bar in the back. It seems like a nice place for a happy hour. Overall, I'd definitely recommend BRU Burger, but more so for the salads and atmosphere than the burgers. read more
