This was my first time trying Bruegger's. I wanted to like it so much more :( The staff, although appeared to be high schoolers, seemed very immature. One was making food for his break while the other was saying I'm clocked out who is gonna make her food all while I was standing right there. The bagel ended up being flat, partially cold, and overall just not that good. I gave it 2 stars for it being in a great location and having a variety of flavors to choose from. read more

This has to be one of the worst stores I have ever been to. I love eating at these places they have the best bagels but the customer service and wait time here is absolutely ridiculous. I love Bruegger's Bagels but I'm not a huge fan of this location. Every time I get a bagel at this location the bagel is as white as a sheet of paper. When I go to the location in Ann Arbor or the one in Rochester Hills the bagels are cooked to a nice golden brown. The bagels at the Royal oak location look almost raw. It has me nervous and I always have to ask them not to slice my bagel and for the cream cheese on the side. I then take the bagel back to work and I have to put it in the oven a little longer to get it golden brown to make sure it's cooked properly. I shouldn't have to do that. You won't find some of the unique flavors you would at for example Detroit Institute of Bagels, however Brueggers has consistent quality & good for all types of crowds from families/ grandparents / teens. My fiance and I were walking down Main street when all of a sudden someone came out and offered to buy us lunch. They were doing a staff training for their grand reopening and they were having people come in and try some of their new items. It just so happens that that night we were coming to this exact location for a Yelp Elite event. The remodel is SO nice! It definitely doesn't feel like just a bagel shop anymore and I would definitely come here to hang out and do work. For our free lunch we decided to try their salads, I got the caesar and my fiance did the build your own. I was very hesitant about getting a salad from a bagel and sandwich place but I was pleasantly surprised. The salad was pretty generous and tasted extremely fresh. Usually I am a little skeptical of getting chicken just anywhere, but this chicken was delicious! I have to say that Bruegger's is really stepping up their game! I really enjoyed my bagels from here wish I was a little surprised because normally I don't hit Royal Oak for stuff like this or tell the truth most things anymore. Normally I go to Einstein bagels because they're close by and as a New Yorker they're very popular there so normally I stick with a lot of the stuff that reminds me of my childhood. But I came here to take someone to a health shop and while sitting in the car waiting on them I saw this place so I decided to check it out because I was in the mood for a bagel anyways and thought you know what no problem give them a try. I really was not disappointed at all because the bagel was just the right amount of soft when you're biting into it that you're not struggling to rip a piece off to eat. I went with the onion bagel with egg and cheese and the onion on the bagel complemented the egg and cheese just right. Overall the price was just right to it wasn't overly expensive and about the same pricing as Einstein bagel which I couldn't complain about. I would say I'd be coming back more often but personally I don't like Royal Oak downtown because there's almost no parking and that's a big issue with me since I don't like driving around the block several times just waiting for a parking spot to open up. But I definitely would recommend it to anyone who would want to try this place that lives in the area or is just visiting. read more

I had the latter on asiago parmesan instead of pumpernickel. I first came here for a Yelp event. I've been here twice since the event last month. The turkey chipotle club is MmMmm good. Love the bagels, but had a weird experience with asking to just have a cup of water. Did you know they won't give you a normal size cup? You get one of the mini cups that dentists give you. Oh, and the cashier has to fill it up for you. So if you want to have just water with your meal, you are going to have to keep standing up and ask for a refill. Okay this location has really nice employees and is quick. BUT Bruegger's overall has some really bad bagel etiquette. Their cream cheese is super thick and dense and they pile it on one side only. So when you open your bagel one side has nothing and the other side is smothered. I've also gotten a lot of burned bagels that were supposed to be toasted. They've decreased the number of specialty bagels. Their coupons only last for like two days before expiring. read more

I know this is a chain but I've come here many times over the years. Today the email offer is 3 free bagels for members of their email club until 11:00. I was late by 30 minutes but they didn't hesitate to give it to me. I think the staff are the reason most of us come here. Always hard working and pleasant. Even during a busy time, the wait isn't long and it gives you a second to rethink what you want. Being a bit on the chubby side of life, I like that they will make your bagel skinny which is quite a bit of savings. Great breakfast sandwiches and one year I will invest in the bottomless mug club. **10 months since my last review and this location is still terrible. I ordered egg and bacon on a poppyseed bagel. NO CHEESE. Cashier got it right, but ok and behold, nasty chemical tasting cheese is on my bagel anyways. This used to be a great place to grab a quick "on the go" breakfast. Now, after replacing ALL of their employees, it's neither great nor quick. Nor accurate. Nor clean. Nor stocked with such basics as....coffee. If you actually get what you ordered, count yourself lucky. I've stopped going in after waiting 20 minutes for a sandwich that wasn't made correctly and empty coffee urns long after the morning rush had subsided. I live close to Bruegger's and eat there all the time. Great food. Awesome food. Really great breakfast food if your looking for something quick but awesome. The thai peanut sandwich is my favorite but messy. They had a special break jalepeno breakfast sandwich for a time which I really enjoyed. The bagels are great. I brought them in for my coworkers and they all asked me where I got them and wanted to go get some for themselves. Price wise it is appropriate for your royal oak. read more
