So good I had to come twice this weekend! I can't believe it's right down the road from me, and I've never been. Well, I made up for it this weekend, first with the family, then again with my friend, who also loved it. So cute inside, but small, so get there early. The second day, I actually sat at the bar with her since the line was so long. The decor is adorable inside! They stay super busy during prime hours, and seem like they could use a little extra help. Service is friendly, but sometimes a little scarce. I had a vanilla latte with oat milk that was good, but kind of small. I love that even with oat milk, the price didn't change. Both days I got the avocado toast, which was pretty darn good. It had a few sprouts on top and some radish, with a poached egg on each piece of toast. For $13, I love that you don't pay extra for egg, and you get TWO pieces of toast, unlike some other places. My boyfriend and daughter killed the hash browns, and my daughter just loved them. She got the Dutch baby with fruit, so light and fluffy and yummy, and they only use maple syrup, thank you. The fruit unfortunately seemed to be of the frozen but thawed variety, but still tasted pretty good. My boyfriend got the special which included scrambled eggs, pancake, bacon and hash browns. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the pancakes. They were not light and fluffy at all, more dense, and very average tasting. All in all, I'm so glad to have found such a quaint spot so close to home. I'll gladly come back here again. read more

This place is almost there. They've done a great job at keeping the building clean and having a modern aesthetic. The plate presentation was lovely, however, we weren't overly impressed with the food -- slightly above average breakfast taste. Service was kind, however fairly short staffed. There is no host, so for a first timer it's pretty confusing. A couple parties even left because they weren't greeted after a few minutes. A good variety of food and drink options, but no alcoholic beverages. Hazelnut latte: taste was okay but presentation is very cute! Also ordered one milk and an extra cup for the kids to share. Smoked salmon toast: loved it! Has a hint of spicy and the acidic made it not feel too heavy. Was a bit hard to eat without everything falling off. Croque madame: very rich in flavor. The fries was also delicious! One of my kids favorite. Special breakfast: requested scrambled eggs inside of sunny side. Good portion size for two young kids to share! They ate everything except for the roast vegetables. Red velvet waffle: not too sweet, but you can add more syrup if you prefer sweeter taste. The candied walnut adds a nice texture. Suwanee/Johns Creek doesn't need another nameless nail salon or breakfast chain and Brunch at Peony is neither! I've been eager to see what could fill the shoes of Drēm and BoP exceeded my expectations. Took the girls and got a variety of foods off the menu: 1) the Breakfast Jr 2) the Dutch Baby (fruit/sweet) 3) the Dutch Baby Bacon (savory) 4) the Bulgogi Burger The kids' breakfast is huge. It's a pancake quartered, topped with powdered sugar. The girls raved about it. It's two eggs, scrambled. It's a pan fried hash browns potato pancake, crispy at the edges. It's two slices of bacon. It's fruit and an edible flower. Served with maple syrup. The presentation is beautiful for a kids dish. Brunch at Peony is a slight misnomer; this place is open all week and for lunch as well (not just what can be considered breakfast and brunch), and the burgers are really delicious. I tried the Bulgogi Burger, which infuses some of owner/chef's Korean heritage (Daniel has an interesting story: a Korean-American man who lived a long time in Argentina, speaks at least Korean, English, and Spanish and is a chef!) with a riff on a classic American burger. There's caramelized onions in a Bulgogi sauce, bacon, fried egg, and a tender meat mix (I think pork and beef) that is marinated. It comes with a sauce side and the most delicious potato wedges you've ever had! Then there are the chef's specialties: the two flavors of Dutch Baby. I don't know where else you can find a Dutch Baby around to compare, but think of it as an oven-baked crepe that rises and crisps on the edges like a popover. Everything chef Daniel cooks is done impeccably, from the roasted tomatoes and over-easy eggs on the savory version, to the macerated berry compote that soaks into the fruit version. He makes each bite look like a work of art, and it tastes as good. Speaking of art, the decorations set a level of ambiance you don't expect in a mini strip mall off of Old Atlanta. The peony theme is carried throughout, the dining room is bright and airy, there is a little breakfast bar that looks into the kitchen, and the bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Chill music plays over the speakers with a mix of acoustic, pop, and some KPop that you don't even recognize as being Korean. Lastly, I asked the kids if they wanted Waffle House or "the new breakfast place" and they didn't choose Waffle House...I don't think there can ever be a better review than that! read more

We ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict and the Peony Dutch Baby pancake; and both were a revelation! The Smoked Salmon Benedict sets a new standard for the dish. Particularly the Hollandaise sauce and the avocado mousse, the savoriness is complemented by the smoked salmon and crisp sweet croissant which it finds its home. The Dutch pancake is a medley of sweet berries in a gentle embrace by a thin and fluffy pancake. It is a dish that simply begs for another round of pancakes for the table. The owner provides a pleasant ambience that is great for both families and individuals alike. Overall the food and the decor combine to create the experience of a high city living cafe right brought deliberately into one's backyard to save a trip down to Atlanta. I agree with another comment that upon entering can be a little confusing, not formerly greeted and you are already on top of guests, but I was quickly told by another waiting guest to visit the counter for a table. This is a really lovely and small sized brunch spot. There are 14 tables that can fit 2 people each, as well as bar seating which can fit up to 3 people. I visited on a Sunday and all the seats were filled. You join the waitlist by writing your name and contact information down in a notebook next to the entrance. I only waited ~10 minutes before getting a seat at the bar, which has a great view into the kitchen. The theme of the restaurant is cute. From the menu to the decor, there are peony flowers scattered around. I ordered the Peony Dutch baby, Chicken waffles and hash browns. The Peony Dutch baby has a round shape. It is covered in powdered sugar and served with maple syrup on the side. The edges of the pancake rise up to form a puffy and crispy golden brown rim. The surface of the pancake has a smooth texture, and it reminds me of a crêpe. The center is topped with strawberries, bananas, and a delicious blueberry compote. For the Chicken waffles, I got the red velvet in the spirit of Valentine's Day. It comes in a beautiful red color, topped with chicken tenders and an edible purple orchid. The waffle and chicken are covered in powdered sugar, with the gravy and maple syrup served on the side. I really liked the gravy, which had a smoky taste. The chicken was crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside. The hash browns were also yummy. They were golden and slightly crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. I'm really impressed with this restaurant. Turns out the head chef is also the owner and you can tell he puts his heart into his work. I got to exchange a few words with him and he was really kind. This place is definitely worth the wait. Everyone in the kitchen is dedicated to making high-quality food.
