Grew up in Irvington and this place was always our go to pizza spot. Moved in 2000, so it has been some time since I ate Bruno's. I stopped in last week. Ordered two Italian cheeseburgers, also had a plain slice while I waited. The slice came from a fresh pie that was just taken out of the oven. I burned the top of my mouth, and enjoyed every bite of that slice. I dropped off one Italian cheeseburger to my brother. He asked, "where did you get this from?" I replied, "Bruno's." His eyes lit up like a Christmas tree as he disappeared to devour the sandwich. I housed (yea, you have to be an 80s baby to get the terminology) my sandwich while reminiscing about the great memories I had as a kid in Irvington. Bruno's is the best. I will always compare my pizza and Italian cheeseburgers to theirs and no place in South Jersey has come close. read more

DISGUSTING!! Do not order from here. I just placed an $89 dollar order on door dash and received a pizza with shredded chicken that smelled old and like fish. Another pizza with raw dough literally couldn't eat it, and wings that were soggy and overly sauced. I called the business to see if maybe they could partially refund or even send a driver with another pizza but the person on the phone was so nasty and told me it wasn't his problem, to call doordash because he will still get money if I cancel it. This place brings back memories; I've been coming here for pizza since I was a kid, and I'll tell you what: their recipe hasn't changed in over 20 years. There are still orange benches where you can shovel omnoms into your face or wait for your order. There are still 2 drink fountain with flavors I've always identified as "purple" and "red". There are still buckets of Gino's Italian icees at the front of the store in a freezer just tall enough to taunt your average 8 year old. I did notice some of the faces have changed, and the menu board has been replaced, but in all my years, that delicious pizza hasn't changed one bit. Crispy in all the right places and cheesy all the way to a slightly buttery crust that begs to be devoured. I've had "New York style" pizza with cheese that tastes like feet and you don't get that here. Hands down, best NYS pizza outside of NYC! read more

Excellent pizza that flavor tender yet crispy crust . This what I've been searching for. This is now my family's go to pizzeria.

When I was a child, I used to come here and it here almost everyday for pizza and Spaghetti or sometimes both everyday. About 15 years ago I moved away from this neighborhood a few hours away into PA and ever since, I have tried the dishes i mentioned above at other pizzerias and nothing has ever come close to this place. their Spaghetti sauce as a spice to it that i just find divine. Recently i was in the area because I needed to go into NYC and stopped by here and while the older workers appear to have retired and newer younger employees work here, The food is better than I remember and better than any other pizzeria I have been trying for the past 15 years. I wish I lived closer so I can work here for free and try and learn their receipe to their Spaghetti as well as their Italian subs is also the best in the world. The pizza is subpar at best. If you're really hungry I would recommend it in order to put something in your stomach, but other than that, don't do it LOL. When I went there to get a slice a pizza I decided to eat it there. Big mistake! They sold me a plain slice of pizza and put it onto a thin sheet of wax paper on top of a tray. (No plate.) As soon as I had lifted up my slice of pizza to eat, the grease from the pizza got all over the wax paper and sunk past it onto the tray so that there was nowhere to sit the hot slice down. Once I was about halfway finished with my slice, I noticed that the employees weren't even properly cleaning the trays after each use. They would just pick them up (from being by the garbage), wipe it off with a dry dish towel (one that one would use to dry dishes with), and place them on the side to be reused again. read more

I always come back to this place because it's one of the best pieces of pizza I've ever eaten! I've tried a few other things here but the pizza always brings me back. I always go to my mainstay : pepperoni slices! Lol my total weakness they make the best pizza ever! As far as people saying about the neighborhood it's on the Main Street- Springfield Avenue to be exact it's not that bad. It's downtown a few blocks from the bus terminal.
