My family has been eating here for 20 years. I catered my baby shower with their food. When my three sons were little, every Friday night I'd get off the train from work and pick up a Pizza pie, a large salad and four of their specially bottled root beers. I love their fried calamari, fresh baked focaccia rolls, their garden salad with house dressing (sounds simple but it is the best I've had, ever), shrimp scampi and the best marinara sauce hands down. In addition to their classic Italian food, they also have a "Light Menu" for those watching their carb intake. My favorite is the unbreaded eggplant parm with spinach. For example, the Trattoria Salad I had tonight was missing three(!) ingredients - red onions, cherry tomatoes, and kalamata olives (see picture below). my friend and I went into this establishment and asked for a plain slice and a fiesta slice they said OK so we waited and waited for a long time then they said OK here's your slice so me and my friend walked out and then we looked in our bags and they were not our correct slices so we went back inside and asked for our correct slices. A classic NJ suburb spot for pizza! Have been coming here for years and it never fails. Nowadays I typically do to-go but they do have a smaller dining room to eat in. They have kiosks in the entrance where the pizza is made and displayed, where people typically crowd to order or pick up their pizza. If you're doing take out they do have an online platform but would recommend calling instead as they don't list many of their pies online. The pizza is thin crust and crispy. My favorites are mushroom and sausage, the calamari pizza, and the Buffalo chicken and fries pizza. If you purchase 15 pizzas you get a free cheese pizza, you have to cut out and save the coupons from the pizza box. Nice place for lunch. They sell individual slices or whole pie of pizza. They also have different pasta and sandwiches, too. I was surprised to see seating area full. You order it at counter and they will announce that food is ready for pickup. No dining services, but that's okay since this is casual friendly pizza place. I would definitely will return again. I love this location. I've been to the one in South orange too but prefer and make the commute to this one instead. For some reason the food taste better here and the have more options. Ambiance: super noisy!! Food: not as good as back when original owner Service: very poor..silverware and napkins should be first thing to bring to the table as well as bread and tap water, servers need to be better trained to know specials of the day and answer basic questions about the menu. Overall a 3 star dining experience and I don't plan going there for dinner specially on weekends when restaurant is taken over by dozens of rowdy teens to grabs the few tables to hang out over a slice of pizza. Not the most consistent-- sometimes it's the best pizza ever and sometimes it's just okay. I've never had an outright bad experience though, and the other menu items I've tried have been more consistent (and pretty good).
