We called to place an order over the phone and were quoted an hour and a half wait time, which I thought was absurd -- but we went for it anyway. We picked up the pizza at the time they gave us and brought it home, less than 15 minutes away. The pizza, to me, was just okay and extremely overhyped. The pepperoni was sliced very thin into strips and was almost flavorless. I know some people might enjoy this style, but it just didn't do it for me. For a large pie with pepperoni, the total came to a little over $20. Vinnie's is located in a very busy area, and parking can be a challenge. Customer service was okay. I promised my wife that we would find good pizza during a trip to New Jersey, and after a bit of searching, Vinnie's seemed like it would be able to deliver. It's a small spot - two tables inside, two tables outside - but the stacks of empty pizza boxes mark it as a popular one. They do sixteen-inch pies here (sorry, no slices) as well as sandwiches, pastas, and wings. After describing what we were looking for in a pizza, the young man at the counter suggested the Gramps (sweet Italian sausage, hot cherry pepper, and onions) with olives added, and we were sold. Fifteen minutes later, we were digging into a glorious pie. The crust was thin without being floppy or greasy. The sauce and cheese were both high quality. The peppers added a nice burst of heat. Cheap it was not (upper $20s after the additional topping), but there are some things you can't put a price on, and a sublimely delicious pizza is one of them. Truthfully, I'm not back up North often enough to say how well Vinnie's stacks up against other Union County pizza options (I grew up on Cioffi's), but compared to much of what I'm used to in the Tarheel State (where good pizza is good often by virtue of innovative toppings), it more than holds its own. read more

Came here on a friday evening, there was a 45 minute wait for a pie which was fine because we weren't in a hurry. We placed our order at the counter and took a walk then came back in time for our pizza. We ordered one bella pie which was cooked to perfection. The crust had just the right amount of crispness and I like how they spread the cheese all the way to the edge so every bite has the same amount of flavor. The sweetness from the hot honey balanced out the saltiness of the soppressata and spiciness of the peppers. This was by far one of the best pizzas I've had in a while. I'd recommend ordering ahead of time (1 hour to 45 minutes) over the phone so that the pizza is ready by the time you arrive and eating it fresh at one of their tables. They only have 2 tables inside and a few outdoor seats but a majority of their orders were for pick up so we didnt have a problem finding seating. read more

I got here at least once a week and it never disappoints. It's my favorite pizza in the area. The charred edges of the pizza are delicious. I usually get the cheese pie with hot honey and it's so yummy. I also burn my mouth on the pizza because it's too good to wait to cool. Vinnie's only has two tables inside so go at an off time if you want to eat there. Service is exceptional. John is my absolute favorite and always makes good conversation. Stretchy cheese perfection, sauce to cheese ratio was good for the thin crust that still somehow withstood all it was holding. Crispy and doughy at the same time. Solid option without any bells and whistles required. ***One note I would definitely recommend eating it there, I imagine take out could ruin the consistency. The pizza gets cold quickly because it's so thin which would probably make the crust less enjoyable. Penne sausage and broccoli rabe (4/4) Not oily, crispy sausage and ample broccoli rabe cut up nicely for a bit with each bite. Always love some good fresh garlic browned and crispy! Looks like many people don't dine in, we ate inside and it was cold in the area where they have tables. Pizza was delicious I love that it's pizza all the way and no crust. Inside it's two small tables and a nice/newer vibe. The pizza takes me back to the classic bar pie with thin crust. Awesome pizza spot in Millburn. Couple tables inside and outside but generally this is a take-out spot. I did try dining inside once but the A/C wasn't on so it wasn't particularly pleasant on a hot day. It's right in downtown so parking is not the easiest. If you're lucky you might be able to snag a spot on the street by the restaurant, otherwise just keep going until you find something on the street or just go into one of the lots and pay for it. Those that know me know that I'm a bit of a pizza snob and so my standards tend to be high. I'm thrilled to report that Vinnie's does not disappoint in that regard. It's thin/pan crust so it's not too heavy - I could eat the entire pizza myself and not feel as guilty as I probably should. But it gives that perfect crisp taste without the burnt feeling. They have several specialties but you can also just build your own from their list of toppings, though pay attention to the cost. My personal go-to is always onions and green peppers. They only have one size of pizza unfortunately, it'd be nice if they had a medium size that was a little smaller and cheaper. I think they do sell a personal size during lunchtime but it's a little too small for my liking. If you're getting take-out and live further away, I recommend just eating it outside or somewhere nearby instead since it gets cold pretty quickly considering how thin the pie is. I will admit that the price is rather high for what you're getting, but really what isn't overpriced these days? Despite that, I look forward to the next time I'm in the area and can get this pizza again. read more

Pretty good pizza spot in Millburn. If you like thin crust then you will really enjoy this spot. There's a crispness/ softness that I really enjoyed about the pepperoni pizza. The service was great, pretty quick and easy to order. It takes about 20 min for a pie. The only down fall is that there is limited seating. I have been on a quest to find the best pizza in north/central NJ and my search brought me here. I'm so glad it did. I barely have adequate command of the English language to do it justice. Just incredible pizza. I mean incredible. I have had some amazing pizza recently and this just blew me away. Take a look at the pictures. The ring of caramelized cheese around the rim is pure magic. Every pizza I saw coming out had it. Perfect every time. A super slightly burnt cheese taste and amazing crispness. The bottom was perfectly baked and crispy. Just the right thickness and texture. The sauce was a perfect balance of tangy and sweet and the cheese was good as well. I'm sure some toppings would be good but I don't think I will ever stray from just cheese. It is that good. I have given a few other pizza places five stars and now I feel self conscious about it. They just aren't in this league. Wish there was a way to give a bonus star. Like the amps that went up to eleven in Spinal Tap. Just be warned, they only have two tables. Yes, two. Luckily everyone knows this and everything was takeout but you might get unlucky. This pizza is beyond great. I would easily drive 3 hours to get some. Luckily I only live 45 minutes away. Top 2 or 3 pizzas in my life and I'm old and have eaten a ton of pizza. This place has been on my list for a while, but what gave me the push to finally go was the recent "battle" I saw between Vinnie's and the beloved Star Tavern for best bar pie in NJ. Anything being compared to Star has gotta' be good! Boyfriend and I both really enjoyed the plain cheese pie (The Vinnie). I understand why some thin crust places don't do this, but I could have used more sauce (just my preference). Still really great flavor, the crust wasn't paper thin but was probably a step above that (which I really like), and the slices could stand on their own. The crust was chewy -- way chewier than any other thin crust pie I've ever had. I actually like that better than crisp, but I know many don't prefer that. Is it better than Star? No. That + it's also expensive as hell for a thin crust are the reasons for the four stars. But it's a great pie and I will totally be back! While I could see the sausage, and it was very tasty, there wasn't enough. Only every 1 out of 3 bites had a piece of sausage on it. 4. The cringe part for me was the crust. While thin, it was heavy, dense and chewy; not crispy at all. 5. Pizza was somewhat over cooked for my preference, and didn't lend itself to being eaten cool or just warm. I was on my way to AC and saw this place reviewed by Dave Portnoy I think he gave it an 8.1. It was quite a drive out of my way as this place took me north as I needed to head south . When I got about 20 mins away I called in my order and it was a quick easy order . I ordered a pie with pepperoni. When I finally got there I parked at a meter (first 15 mins free) . It's in a really nice area with a nice stream of water over an old bridge which was nice to see . As I entered they didn't seem busy and I was helped right away . The pie came to 21.00 which these days is more than fair . I couldn't wait to get to my car and chow down on some pepperoni pizza! As i opened the box I liked what I saw a nice well done thin pie with cheese all the way to the end of the crust . It had a nice char but I felt a little light with the pepperoni. So as I said it looked well done and thin and I thought it would be crispy . However it's softer and kind of chewy . It reminded me of a frozen pizza consistency . I'm glad I tried it and enjoyed the experience but it's not for me as I prefer a crispy pizza . I drove 90 miles to get two pies. Next time I need to get more pies to the gallon. Totally worth the trip. The sauce compliments the spicy Sgt. Peppers pie.
