Stuck overnight in Indiana due to snow storm. Stopped by. Got a chair at the bar and ordered a chicken cheesesteak. Was not a Philly Stule but was good quality chicken and a nice soft sub roll. Fries were thin and crispy. Service was good.

Little college bar and grille. Tried it while moving my son out of college for the year. It was suggested by a coworker who grew up in the area. Place was packed with college kids when I arrived. I was seated fairly quickly at a high top. Somewhat large tap list, although nothing really stood out to my taste, I need to remember that their biggest customer base is college kids so I understand their choices. Large menu, I ask the server what she would order as there was so much to choose from. She suggested the cheesesteak and I obliged. The cheesesteak was okay, the roll to me was the disappointment. I was expecting a little chewiness or crunch like a true cheesesteak, but found this soft instead. When my coworker asked how I liked it I shared my thoughts and he said I should have gone for a pizza as they've been making good pizza forever there. Next semester I'll try it.

Food and drinks are good here but service could be better. The bartender we had was rude to our group which was very off putting. Once we got seated at a table though we ended up having a better time. I got the kickin' chicken flatbread and the blueberry peach mule. The mule was delicious as well as the flatbread! The flatbread had a great kick to it and was one of the most tasty flatbreads I've had. Overall a good spot if you're looking for American/bar food!

A great little restaurant in the mountains of Pennsylvania. It's a hop and a skip from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I found myself searching anxiously for something edible and yelp helped guide the way. The parking lot was being paved and I ended up parking on the street. Many people were outside eating and drinking and this was an old college town with many things to like and some I could do without. I entered pensively and left overjoyed. Everything was good from the service to the drinks. The waitress was a student at the Univ nearby and she did a great job explaining the menu and what we should and shouldn't avoid. I ended up getting the shrimp Po boy which was amazing except for the over cooked bread. The shrimp and slaw were delicious and the fries were very good. If I'm ever in the area I will stop in again.

The fried pickles were so good I couldn't get a photo in time. If you come here you need to get these as an app. One of a kind.

The staff is rude, and the general vibe is pretentious as hell. The pizza is also not good... I don't know why anyone would go here.

Interesting location and parking at this place, somewhat challenging (at least for me) but we got in nonetheless and were greeted very nicely and shown a table straightaway. Nice little place, quite ambiance, and a menu that is literally the largest I have seen in quite some time. For dinner, my wife had their personal pan pizza while I went with the spinach and artichoke calzone. The pizza was perfectly sized for her and the calzone was this massive beast - so delicious - and one of the better ones I have had to date. For dessert, I had the most unique type of cream horn I have ever laid my eyes upon. This thing was a caramel cream horn filled with thie lightest of cheesecakes - it was superb. My wife had their cheesecake mousse that was light and thick all in one. The only nit was the service. Though she was absolutely friendly, patient, and helpful, the service wasn't has attentive as I prefer. Nonetheless, it was still and overall great experience and we will definitely be back when we are back in Western PA...

TL;DR - Solid deli, decent food, and a collegiate atmosphere to tie everything together. Honestly, the place is a 3.5 locale, but the food was really good and the portions were massive. The deli is more than it appears from the outside - part deli, part candy store, part convenience store, and all very welcoming I enjoyed looking around the store as I waited on my food. What m wife and I ordered were the 12" Chicken Philly (me), and the #7 off their board consisting of ham and some other meats I can't recall at the moment, a 12" as well. These appeared as massive, bulging subs filled with everything we asked for. No complaints there. Service was a bit wonky - my sub came out almost immediately, but my wife's order took a strangely long time to make. Not sure as it was one of their run-of-the-mill sandwiches, but it did come out and they were apologetic about the wait. For dessert they have offerings out of a cooler - my wife had a raspberry pie of sorts while I had a Boston Cream Cake. They were fresh and good. In the end, we were both pleased as we had a hankering for subs and we wanted to go local and not big box - the place did not disappoint.

The chicken salad had a sweet taste which was odd. The roll was crunchy but not crunchy from being toasted. Mind you I did not request for it to be toasted. Yet again the amount of chicken salad in the roll was minimal. My wife had an egg salad sandwich on a pretzel bun which looked delicious visually. She stated that her egg salad had a sweet taste as well and the portion size of egg salad was minimal.

So many people expressed the fancy, specialty aspect of dining at Benjamin's that I decided to make a lunch reservation for my parents 63rd Anniversary. I asked the host about the menu when making the reservation and made two distinct mentions about the occasion. My parents were very eager and the expectation was perhaps a bit elevated. We arrived about 10 minutes early. There was only one other party in the entire place. We were seated in what can only be described as an old sun porch. Ice cold temperatures and a view of a wooden fence where the parking lot of the neighbors parking lot could be seen between the slats. Service was uber relaxed and the server seemed more interested in staying up to date with the laptop at the podium than our dining experience. My mother asked about options for her salad and the server suggested something completely different- with seafood. Not at all my Mom's taste. I ordered the huge fish sandwich. These seemed to be the best options for us since - to our dismay- the menu lacked their full selection as promised at the time of reservation. My parents were looking forward to prime rib. In a nutshell, Mom's salad lacked flavor and was drowning in citrus vinaigrette. The fish sandwiches my Dad and I ordered were DRY!! No tartar sauce, no aioli- bare, toasted bread. It was like eating a sponge. Was hoping to ask for something to soften up the crouton-like crust scratching the tops of our mouths, but as stated before, no server in sight. We waited 15 minutes after getting Luke-warm coffee (end of shift?) for the bill. It took another 10 minutes for her to process the payment. No refills?? I was embarrassed from the minute we walked in to the vacant dining area on a Saturday that I had made the reservation in the first place. There was ZERO acknowledgement of the occasion and the host completely blanked on our name. The only saving grace to the afternoon was going down to The Meadows for ice cream. A memorable visit, but not for the right reasons.
