I've been going to Birria places for a while now and I can tell you that this place is severely overrated and not worth the wait! We came on a Friday night, probably the first mistake. There was no definitive line and we wasted about 5 minutes standing in what appeared to be the line to order, but wasn't. We finally found the correct line and ordered fairly quickly. The guy taking our order was friendly. No prices listed, but our 4 tiny Birria Tacos and one small cup of Consume came out to about $26.00. I would have ordered two 3 Taco Plates (includes rice & beans) for $10 each if I knew it would cost me about the same price to get 4 tacos + one Consume!! How long would you wait for your order to be ready? Expect at least a 40-minute wait! TIP: They accept Cash or you can send money through Zelle. The Birria tacos were small but pretty good. They came topped with guacamole. I would consider eating them again, but not at the price we paid. The Consume was awful... it was as if the server just scooped up all the grease floating at the top and added cilantro & onions. It was pretty gross! I want/need Consume with my Birria Tacos!! Was very excited to try this but my visit was disappointing. I understand my friend and I took a while in line due to asking questions (my apologies to the customers behind us) but we didn't know what we really wanted. Thank you to the cashier for explaining what was what. Reading the plates were a little confusing. Birria plate is a plate with just the meat only. The taco plate was the birrira tacos. Luckily we asked. We ended up going with the taco plate, mulita and doranados with a horchata. Upon ordering we were advised they did not have sauce for the night. Which was a downer cuhz what is food without sauce? Got home and opened the taco plate. The rice that came with it was very mushy like mash potatoes. Although the beans were tasty though. This place is pretty freakin bomb as long as you order the right things. The hubs loves this place and I'm sure we'd eat it once a week if it was up to him lol. Most times that we go I am rarely disappointed . The Birria tacos, questacos, consome, and pizza are so bomb. The strawberry lemonade aqua Fresca is bomb too, just the right amount of tangy and not too sweet. 2 reasons why it's 4 and not 5 stars. For one, the wait times are always longer than what they quote. Just last night we texted to order wnd they told us 20minutes so we walked over and still ended up waiting a total of 50 minutes all together. They are always busy so I know they are overworked and I'm sure doing their best but it would just be nice if the communication on that would be expressed and not under delivered. Bryan's Birrieria is awesome, this great husband and wife crew take over Jerry's Breakfast Place Tuesday through Sunday nights at 5pm (they are closed MONDAY Night) and Muy Delicioso Birria is what's for dinner!!! Parking is really hard to find at night around here, recommend to Uber or walk if you live close by, we walked over a 1/2 mile to get here. It's worth it, Everything is really really good as you can imagine from the pics, the consume birria broth soup with onion and cilantro is extremely good and I would recommend it with every meal as a side. The horchata is also great and made to order. They even make a hot chili oil hot sauce as well that goes great with everything. Highly recommend the birria plate with rice and beans. I tried to call in an order and the answering of the phone was very unprofessional honestly. The young lady answered and said hello, who is this? I had to ask if this was the business phone. That was odd. I was just told to text in my order with a name, whichOther than that, the food was great. Tried this place for the first time on Saturday and it was amazing!! I had the tacos dorados and a mulita. The taco and Mulita was super crispy perfect to dip in the consume. The consume had great flavor and had a lot of meat. They are not stingy with the meat and it's super soft and flavorful. We also tried the nachos which were very flavorful as well. It's pretty rare I just randomly try a new place as I'm passing by, without even looking them up first, but that's what happened yesterday evening, when on my way home, I passed by this truck, with its advertisement of being the "best birria in California!", sitting on the corner of Pine and Ocean. I wasn't even super hungry, but I love birria, so with a claim like that, I had to try it. I will say, first off, they really need *prices* listed. They just have a list of their products, but you have to ask them for prices, which is pretty lame. So I can only say what the prices were yesterday on the items I ended up getting: one standard taco, for $2.50, one "quesitaco" (taco/quesadilla mashup) for $3.50, and a horchata for $4. Didn't know what to expect, but I figured that'd be a good sampling of their core offering. I will also say, it is very clear that everything is made fresh to order, which is great! But I also say that because it was a bit of a wait, as far as food truck tacos go. There were two people in front of me, and it was about 20 minutes. So I wouldn't recommend this truck as much if you're in a hurry or if they look particularly busy. Having now had the opportunity to try it, I can say: I doubt they're the best birria in California. I've had a lot of good birria, and I'm pretty sure I've had better, in California. On the other hand, I've had a lot of mediocre birria, too, and this... isn't that. It's solid birria, you'd just better be really confident to make a claim like that, haha. The birria is delicious, for sure, and so is the taco as a whole (especially after you add their *very* good salsa), but the taco also wasn't that large, for the price. It's also pretty messy - and that brings us to the $3.50 "quesitaco", which was more fun, for being a novel invention - it's basically the same as the first taco, but wrapped in a super-cheesy extra outer fried tortilla layer. So about the same size, just way cheesier. This absolutely makes it way tastier, probably enough to justify the cost even though it's not that much more food - but also makes it way *messier*. I wasn't sure exactly how I was supposed to eat it - seems too crunchy to eat with utensils, but eating it like a normal taco, it was all over *everything* by the end. Tasty though. The horchata, though... wow. I honestly, no-joke, think they should redo their truck to say "BEST HORCHATA IN CALIFORNIA (we also sell birria)". I love horchata, and as with birria (even moreso), I've had a lot of really good horchata, but way more horchata that was mediocre, and some that was downright terrible (I don't think I've ever had *terrible* birria). Good horchata is great, and the horchata I had yesterday was literally probably the best I've had. Super rich and creamy, the perfect amount spiced, the perfect amount sweet, and you could really still taste the rice, but all the flavors blended perfectly. I wouldn't go out of my way for the food (though I'd probably stop if I saw them on my way somewhere again, if I was hungry - my definition of a 4 star review), but if I could give half-stars, I'd give them an extra half-star for how freaking good that horchata was. (I want to try their strawberry lemonade now, too!) Keep in mind, this is a food truck, so at least where it was parked yesterday, there wouldn't really be any parking, and seating is limited to "you can sit on the ground outside" (though to be fair, they were parked next to some steps, that actually made pretty good seating). They also only take cash or mobile payments (cash app or zelle). I only had venmo, so I had to pay with cash, oh well. read more

We ordered 4 orders of the 3-taco plate and got them as "quesitacos." (**request this! and order the consome*) I remember the food taking a while to be prepared. I was in a slightly drunken state so I can't say for sure but we had enough time to order a funnel cake from a truck across the street before the tacos were ready. We took the tacos back to the car to eat and w.a.o.w. they were sooo good! I managed to finish all 3 tacos but will opt for 2 tacos next time. The wait was about an hour BUT it was very much worth it! Bryan and everyone there were so friendly and welcoming. I got 6 tacos for $2.50 each and 2 consomé for $3.50 each. Probably one of the best places to eat in Long Beach. If you like crunchy birria tacos then look no further! The owners are sooo nice and personable that it just makes your food experience that much more awesome.
