Cool bar on St. Marks with a GREAT cocktail menu and very good selection of beers. Very reasonable prices as well. Easy enough to find a seat at the bar and not too many people camping out for long spans of time. Bartender was friendly and present. Bonus points for being right across the street from Crif Dog! Went here early-ish on a weeknight, which judging from other reviews is the only way to do this place. The drinks were delicious, and the barman was great. I like the newish rustic decor, and the porch is clutch, with an awning for rainy days. read more

This is a great place to bring a date before dinner. Has a nice ambiance with dim lighting and small tables with bench seating in the back to share drinks over. Huge crowds on the weekends can sometimes be overwhelming, but if you can find a little ledge to rest your drinks it can still feel very intimate. read more

I've lived in this neighborhood many years, and have gone to the Holy Land market nextdoor and I've never noticed Bua....so when my friend said she was having her birthday here, I had no idea what the place was. And what a great find!! The outside seating is key. The open windows that allow you to people watch inside and outside are my favorite part. I heard they have decent food, although I didn't eat. The best part was the music. Such a great mix, sounded like someones fantastic ipod shuffle but we got some TV on the Radio and Paul Simon and I just didn't want to leave because I was so happy singing along. read more

I found the bartenders were not particularly friendly or helpful, perhaps turned off b/c I didn't look 'alternative' enough, but the bar itself has a great vibe and I've yet to find anyone that didn't enjoy themselves there. During the summer months it's open air but they keep the fans cranking to make sure it stays cool. Drinks are a little expensive for the area, but nothing outrageous. read more

Big airy bar with great atmosphere, sick grilled cheese sammiches and enough brews on tap to punch your ever-loving sobriety into next week. Spicy pickleback shots are short and pickly like Snooki, and they kill fewer brain cells than she does. read more

We came here for a night cap after delicious dinner at motorino - we had initially tried to get into the bar across the road but when we couldn't get a table came here. Came here just for a birthday party. The atmosphere was cool, Guinness on tap, can't go wrong there. It did get a bit crowded (granted a lot of that crowd was our party standing at the bar) which made it hard for the wait staff to pass through. We ended up moving the party across the street half way through the night because we were constantly being bumped into by the wait staff and people trying to get to the bathroom, plus it was extremely HOT near the bar. Its a cool place and a good location. I'll probably be back, but seated at a table next time. read more

Decent place prices are pretty good and the drinks aren't too bad, ordered a draft beer and spent $7 for it. The fried cucumbers are a bit soggy/ salty if consumed by itself but in combination with the beer make a good combination, the kale salad was pretty tasty so I recommend that. Overall good place to hang out for a bite in east village, good mix of a crowd, but maybe not too special from other bar hangouts. Somewhat a bit too noisy to talk inside for groups. read more

Only had drinks there but it was a laid back atmosphere. Liked how they had happy hour deals on Sunday. The pink lemonade was really refreshing and not too sweet. Not sure if it had much alcohol in there though. Decent beer selection and good service. read more

This is a great bar to sit and chill. The wooden booths force intimacy and the huge open windows allow fresh air and people-watching along St. Mark's. Happy hour is great too--weeknights until 7pm, when the crowds are much, much smaller than the weekends, and you can actually enjoy the cute, friendly bartenders. read more

Cool place with two separate (but small) outside spaces in front with tables, and inside there two separate rooms, one with the bar and the other with wooden tables and long, comfortable couches. So you can choose to sit outside to smoke, or get nice and comfy (and maybe even up close 'n personal if you want) indoors. Couldn't figure out the "sliding" bathroom doors at first. Been to Bua numerous times. Good atmosphere. Entrance gets a little jammed, but can usually squeeze your way through the D-bags. Bartenders are friendly and attentive. Prices are as expected. Even on off nights there are decent chicks here. read more

Two words: Pickle martini. I cannot stress how tasty this was, and I LOVE pickle martinis. Also, they have great outdoor seating.

Went for happy hour. My husband ordered the Gold Rush and I had the Pimm's cup. Both were tasty and cost $8/each during happy hour. This place has some nice seating (indoor and outdoor). A good place to meet friends earlier in the evening. read more

Happy hour is amazing! Red lemonade is really good with fresh grinded lemons! They also have pimms which is hard to find. The bartenders are really nice and great mixers! The decor was a little trendy but very comfortable. The patio is great for a nice day and people watching. read more

Love Bua, came here for my b-day...friendly service and a dark warm atmosphere. The cocktails were strong and they have great beer on tap. They have large picnic like tables on the inside and store-front benches for warmer days. They also have a small food menu which is a plus if your a little too buzzed. read more

3 ladies looking for a nice seat to have a drink and catch up. We decided on Bua because the other bars in the area were packed. Well so was Bua. one or two long banquet style tables in the back room. The was was crowded and this made it difficult to catch the bartender's eye. But after some patience, we found a seat, had some good convos, and then we ordered food... Which I was surprised how good it was! I had the pulled pork sandwich (awesome) , my friend had the massive fried chicken sand and other had the grilled cheese with pickles on the side. All 3 were super tasty and delish! read more

Came by here with friends after work while waiting for a delivery to kill some time. This place deserves 4 stars but will get only 3 because they did not have AC. We arrived and it was extremely hot and humid outside so we figured to enjoy a drink while waiting. Thank God we got a table outside because it was almost a sauna inside. The service was good and the waitress very friendly and attentive though so it has its positives. I ordered the pulled pork sliders and my friend had the grilled cheese and we shared fries. My sliders were really good and the fries were great so i would assume the rest of the menu was probably good too. I stuck with my whiskey drinks which were not too strong but good enough. We must of come on an off night because it wasn't overcrowded, which was great considering the weather. It's a nice local bar with some local atmosphere so on a cooler night, I would definitely come back again. Maybe next time I will try one of their cocktails on the HH menu for only $5. read more
