Unfortunately, I had a very concerning experience with Bua Thai Cuisine. I noticed what appeared to be an unauthorized charge involving my credit card for a separate food delivery order through DoorDash. After discovering the charge, I looked into it and called the restaurant to ask to speak with the manager. What disappointed me even more was how the situation was handled. Instead of listening to my concerns and calmly trying to understand or investigate what may have happened, the manager became very defensive and argumentative. Her reaction made the situation even more concerning and left me feeling that my complaint was not being taken seriously. When a customer raises a concern involving payment or credit card information, I would expect management to respond professionally, acknowledge the seriousness of the issue, and make an effort to investigate rather than immediately becoming defensive. Even if there were an explanation or misunderstanding, a respectful and transparent response would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience completely damaged my trust in this business. Really enjoyed my experience here. The service was great from the moment we walked in--friendly, attentive, and quick without feeling rushed. The ambiance was also really nice: relaxed, cozy, and perfect for catching up over a good meal. The highlight was definitely the quality of the food. Everything tasted fresh and well-balanced. We ordered the chicken satay (chef's kiss), tofu pad thai, soup, and a salad, and every dish hit the spot. The satay especially stood out--super flavorful and perfectly cooked. Don't waste your time were. The food and prices are not worth it and the service is not great. I was going to go to another Thai restaurant down the street but came across this little place down in Claremont. To keep a long story short, it was a big waste of money. Upon walking in it was beautiful. I loved the look of the restaurant. My friend and I sat down quickly since there was only one other couple there. We ordered 5 plates to share and 1 drink. The blond waitress made a comment about how I ordered a lot of food. I laughed a bit with her, but I didn't pay it much mind. The food was good. However the prices were a bit much. Only some of the items had prices on them either written or just not placed there. It was inconsistent. I've ordered more before at other Thai restaurants and have never paid as much as I did here. They checked on us once for the water and brought us some extra rice, which was $3 more. When we were done eating the blonde waitress comes back and asks how many boxes we need. I say 4 and she proceeds to count them and says 4 as well. She said she'll be the one to pack it up and she made the same comment about how I ordered a lot of food and giggled a bit towards my friend. I just said "yeah I know". Which I thought was weird. I've never had a restaurant make a remake about people ordering a lot of food before. Isn't that what you want for your business? Especially being a Monday? Obviously I was going to have leftovers to bring home. I wasn't sure if she was trying to make fun of my weight since I am heavier than the friend I went in with or if she just didn't want to pack it up. I am going to say the portion sizes weren't big here either and I only grabbed 2 spoonful's of everything on our table. So I'm not sure why she would say that, but I thought it was really weird. I would also like to add that they charged us $16.95 for Red Curry. On Yelp the Lunch special is $13.95 and the regular price is $15.95, We went after 3pm so I knew we weren't getting the special. Not sure why I got charged an extra dollar. Our subtotal came to $89.75 and the Sales Tax was 9.75% ($8.50) which brought us to $98.50. Each plate is around $15-$18. Had I not been disrespected and charged that crazy amount I would have tipped more. Overall, all I can say is, I'm never coming back again. If you got to Sanamlaung down the street the prices seem more fair (especially for a bowl of curry), the food and service is way better. For the same dishes you would have gotten more food for higher quality for around $50. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. read more

Never coming back here ever again, I ordered food to-go; my curry got upcharged from what the menu said and they tried to charge me EVEN MORE extra to get rice with it. Every time I've gone before they gave me rice with my curry. I believe it's because I didnt tip for to-go pickup food. If I'm not sitting down and getting full service I don't tip. And it's absolutely crazy that they cut the receipt in half so I couldn't see what I was charged for. Im waiting to see my bank statement but I'm almost certain they're going to put a fake tip on the receipt. I will be disputing this with my credit card company. Ok so I hike in the area in the mountains. So a friend and I figured of course since we are way out in this area we should grab some food. It was also my birthday. I was in the mood for a burger and we went to town. We seen a parking spot and pulled up directly in front of this place. So we changed our minds and said Thai food it is. There weren't going to be open for a bit so we walked around to check out the area. A pretty cool place to explore. We went back to the restaurant and were the first and only customers. It was early and the day after thanksgiving which was perfect for us. We where greeted we where served drinks then placed our order. A soup for my friend became loves a seafood soup. I got fried rice, chicken and a couple appetizers. It was a great comfortable atmosphere and we were alone for a long time til another customer showed up. Sadly disappointed with the direction the food has gone here. It went from traditional and tasty thai flavors to excessively sweet for all main dishes. Recently went with my family for a late lunch. We got the appetizer plates. Egg rolls were just spring rolls, and somehow they fried a piece of hard plastic into one. Thankfully no one injured their teeth chewing it. We did tell the restuarnt and they were very apologetic and made more. The shrimp skewers and eggs rolls were all good. Very little meat in their wontons or thai dollars. Really enjoyed the stuffed fried chicken wings. That was always a go to in the past. However everything else was not the same. Drunken fried rice, no heat very sweet. Pad kee mau, same no heat very sweet. Even the shrimp chow mein was a bit sweet which was odd for a dish that should have no sweet components added to it. The pork ribs also were different than expect. We thought they were going to be fried and with lost of garlic, as they were fried garlic ribs. Instead they were more so stewed and mostly were like spare ribs. Very little meat, lots of bone. The resturant itself is stunning. Beautiful decor, spacious, lots of windows for natural sun light. However it seems like they strayed away from traditional cooking maybe to be more popular for their new demographics. read more

The service is amazing as well the waitress/waiters always make sure to refill my water and the food comes out in a timely matter. They have affordable prices and it's good quality food. There's plenty of seating indoors and is a great place if you're looking for an affordable and casual lunch or dinner. The quantity of food is good for the price as well. I came here for a business meeting and it was a nice restaurant located on Indian hill with plenty of other eateries in the area. Parking seems to be a hit or miss but I got lucky and made a u-turn in time to snag a parking spot right in the front. Upon entering I was greeted with a lovely smell of jasmine. I asked for a table of 3 and was seated right away during their lunch hours. 2 out of 3 people ordered lunch specials and we also ordered the fried spring rolls, papaya salad, and tofu pad thai to share. The pad thai is not the best I've had, but it was a good portion. The papaya salad was decent tasting, but the portion was small. The fried spring rolls were good. We also ended the meal with mango sticky rice and that was pretty good. The mango was very sweet and enjoyable. Service was attentive and food was a bit above average. The meal came out to almost $90 with tip, so its not that cheap for lunch. Regardless, I do see myself coming back in the future. read more

Been here a few times when I used to work in the area. Loved it then, so I stopped by again to savor their excellent dishes. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience was honestly unacceptable -- both in terms of food quality and service. From the moment we asked a few very normal questions, the waitress was dismissive and rude. My partner asked about the spice level, saying he was between a 3 and 4 and wondered what she recommended. Her response? A sarcastic laugh followed by, "Just pick a number." No attempt to help, no explanation -- just attitude. Later, when we asked about the Pad Thai being overly sweet, she replied, "Well, the other person who picked up the order didn't complain." As if that's a valid response. Not everyone has the same tastes, and asking a question doesn't warrant defensiveness. Even beyond the attitude, the food was a letdown. The Pad Thai was soggy and far too sweet -- not balanced at all. The salad and vegetables tasted like they had been rinsed and plated straight from a cooler -- watery and flavorless. The only halfway decent part of the meal was the chicken, and even that wasn't enough to save it. And just when we thought the uncomfortable experience was over, the waitress stood there blatantly watching us as we calculated the tip -- as if she was entitled to one after giving us poor service. It was awkward, unprofessional, and honestly, kind of shocking. We came in hoping for a pleasant lunch. What we got instead was poor food, worse service, and a clear sign that customer care is not a priority here. Safe to say we won't be back -- and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who expects quality food or respectful treatment. I stopped in for lunch today and was starving. I ordered off thier lunch special menu and got the Red Curry. They said the spice options were 1-5 with 5 being really spicy. I only like spicy curry, so I went with 4. I also saw an appetizer called Bua Thong. Crab and cream cheese wonton - sounded really good. When the food came out: 1. Buo Thong is crab Rangoon. Hardly as good as fast food version. It had about 10 on there, I ate 2 and didn't want the the rest. Very disappointing 2. The curry came with a little bit of vegi6 and a small salad that were average to below average. The curry size was very small with about 5 boots of chicken. There was also no spice. At the end I brought this up and the waitress found out the kitchen forgot to put spice in it. :( it was terrible. This was the worst diving experience I've had in Claremont and the lowest quality $24 lunch I've ever had. This could easily be 2 stars, but I only had water and can't just their drinks. read more

I'm sorry, but it's not nearly as good as it used to be. Flavors are ok, and they're still using better meat, but less of it and what little chicken was in my dish, was way overcooked. I much prefer to get my salad first, but now they serve it all together in these awful trays. They also used to give you a choice between soup or salad, but soup is no longer an option. The worst thing though, is the sound of the fork scraping the metal tray when you eat. It's really grating on the nerves for some people (me, I hate it). The server also didn't ask if we wanted white rice or brown, she just defaulted to white. As always, I had to ask for the chili condiments. Apparently they only had two in use and they kept trying to take mine away, but I was still using it! This was definitely a less than stellar experience. They really have a great location and they have such potential. Unfortunately all the meats are pretty dry and tough. Their curry is pretty tasty but it does not come with rice, and the rice side order portion is quite small. If you want to order a curry, I recommend getting it off their lunch special menu since it isn't really worth paying for the side order of rice. Their prices are pretty fair considering the Claremont area is pretty expensive so I would recommend this place if you are craving some Thai food.
