    Lunch chirashi

Overall: delicious fresh sashimi! The tuna melted in my mouth, and salmon was fatty too. Generous sashimi portions with sushi rice. Reasonable prices for the combos for lunch and dinner, special menu is based on market price, which is a bit expensive ($14/piece of uni). 3 for $15 hand rolls from Tues-Thurs :) Ordered: lunch chirashi bowl($20), lunch combo sashimi deluxe ($22), dinner combo sushi deluxe ($25) Tip: check in on yelp for free edamame

Still the best sushi/ japanese restaurant around. High quality fish (many flown in from Japan) for a great value price.

Our favorite local sushi restaurant, we've been coming here since it was formerly Hayato Sushi. The new owner and head chef, Joel, is always so friendly and welcoming! The udon is one of the best in the area. The fish is always very fresh and there's always a rotating menu of specials. The restaurant is always clean and the ambiance is casual and warm. It's limited seating inside maybe ~30 guests and can get busy for dinner on weekends.

This was a first for my boyfriend and I. I love the side of the room, it's small and only a few people working as hostess or in the kitchen. It was super cute and cozy and perfect for a date night. Our hostess and server was so upbeat and kind and the food was presented beautifully and delicious. The seaweed salad was fresher than most places and less slimy. Loved the veggie tempura too.

Try the Omokase experience. Each course was introduced with explanation and care which I appreciated. Thank you Chef!

Start off by saying we will definitely be back. Came in on a Saturday around 7:30pm. Full house but luckily a few big parties were on their way out. Server quickly came to clear the tables and we were sat immediately. Ordered a dinner special with 3 options; Salmon Sushi, Avocado Roll, & a California Roll. Their dinner special also came with some starters, a side salad & Miso Soup. We ended up sharing everything since there was plenty of food. The salmon just melts in your mouth, so good. Our server Kyle was fantastic. He checked on us frequently and very humble. you can tell that everyone on staff here really cares about their level of service. Great food and service what more do you need?!

One of our favorite sushi restaurants! We've eaten at this restaurant three times now, and never had a bad meal. I will describe our first time which was omakase at the sushi bar. Below are just some of what we were served. -Assorted fresh sushi of the day, including uni and toro -Toro hand-roll, so delicious -Salmon belly with special sauce, melt in your mouth good -Squid with salmon roe and cucumber and seaweed salad -Octopus with lemon The fish was super fresh and absolutely delicious. We enjoyed everything that was served to us, which doesn't happen often, even in restaurants with Michelin stars. The restaurant itself is small and ordinary, and located the the corner of a non-descript strip mall. Service was so-so during all three visits, and on the second and third visits, we waited a long time (more than half hour) before getting any food. The reason for 5 stars is purely for the good food. And for that reason we will go back every chance we get.

Well, two years ago I ended my first review by saying, "You haven't seen the last of us Kazama…read moreSushi! We will be coming back a lot!" Safe to say, we meant it. Two years later, Kazama has become our go to sushi spot. My wife and I have been back more times than I can count and it's one of those places where we already know we're going to leave happy. The sushi is consistently fresh and delicious, the sauces are amazing, and the spicy garlic edamame is STILL one of my favorites. We've tried plenty of different rolls since that first visit and have found quite a few favorites along the way. The service has also continued to be friendly and welcoming every time we come in. We love the hole in the wall vibes this spot gives. I always think the best compliment you can give a restaurant is becoming a regular. We said we found our new favorite spot two years ago and Kazama has definitely earned that title. Still an easy 5 stars from us!

Bummer to have to lower my rating but the inconsistency has become frustrating…read more I imagine there may be several chefs and I'm not opposed to personal style but when the inconsistencies include sub par plates it's not ok. For example, we love the vege roll and it usually has seaweed salad and lots of good stuff on it yet last month our arrived with mostly lettuce and nothing interesting. We thought it was an anomaly until yesterday when we had one of our favorites, the salmon skin hand roll and it came with salmon skin that was undercooked, not crispy. We enjoy the restaurant and love the hamachi collar so we're not giving up yet, just keeping our fingers crossed.

I have been coming to Sushi One Spot for over 5 years, and it is incredibly disappointing to see…read morewhat this restaurant has become since Joyce took over. My family has spent thousands of dollars here over the years. We would come 2-3 times a month and easily spend $100+ each visit. Unfortunately, my last FOUR visits have been terrible, and today was the final straw. Today I brought four additional people with me because this was once a restaurant I loved and recommended. Instead, I was completely embarrassed by how we were treated. Joyce tossed/threw straws at our table, brought out Dr Peppers and waters, and immediately told us that "the rules" were that we couldn't share sodas. Nobody said we were sharing sodas. The assumption, attitude, and way she spoke to us were completely unnecessary. The situation became so uncomfortable and humiliating that our entire group got up and walked out without eating. What bothers me most is that I have continued giving this restaurant chances because I've been a loyal customer for so many years. After four bad experiences, I'm done. You don't treat longtime paying customers this way--especially customers who have supported your business consistently for 5+ years and are bringing NEW customers through your doors. I never thought I would be leaving this review for a restaurant my family used to love, but the service and treatment under the current management have completely changed our opinion of this place. We will not be returning.

Shredded beef, tomatoes (not pico de gallo), black beans, fresh crisp jalapeños (not pickled), etc. You get the picture of what everything is. - Gluten-free burger was NOT IT, unfortunately, which is a shame because there's not many gluten-free options at every restaurant. - Vegan jambalaya with shrimp was okay. My friends and I summarize this restaurant as being "great for apps and cocktails" and not the best for dinner. It's sort of in a tucked away location. I nearly walked into Gus's BBQ because I missed the sign pointing to the Whisper House entrance. Plenty of free street and structure parking in downtown Claremont since it's a college town. Servers were attentive and noticed when we needed refills and answered our questions.
