I had a hankering for wings a few days ago, so we decided to try a new, not quite so local (for us) place in North Berwick. The online ordering was a breeze, relatively user friendly website. The different flavors of wing sauce that they offer are abundant. We tried 5 different flavors, spicy BBQ was my absolute fave, the others (tangy Buffalo, sweet chili, salt & vinegar and spicy teriyaki) were ok but nothing overly exciting. I found the salt & vinegar lacking in flavor, the tangy Buffalo tasted nothing like Buffalo to me, the teriyaki wasn't spicy at all and the sweet chili was just ok. I've driven by this place a million times and never stopped in ... today was the day. Okay - When ordering burgers, fries etc. there as an expectation that they will be greasy. BUT greasy is an understatement in regards to their French Fries. Although the portion was huge for a small I could barely eat them because all I could taste was the oil and the fries were saturated...not crispy not soggy just oil filled strips of potatoes. The burger was sloppy, but I ordered one with a cheese sauce so I can't say too much about that. The cheese sauce was very salty and definitely came from a can. I ended up eating the burger with a knife and fork and it became clear why they smother everything in something ... burger was pretty tasteless, but surprisingly cooked well. Their bun choice does not hold up to the burgers they serve AND they pack things in styrofoam!! (Personal pet peeve ... it's so unnecessary) When all is said I'm done I knew what I was getting myself into ... greasy burger and fries, but a greasy burger and fries can and should be comforting, unfortunately this didn't quite hit the mark. Mediocre, passable but I wont go out of my way to order here again and will probably try their wings next in hopes to give them a better rating ... and definitely will not be ordering the fries. Finally decided to give this place another chance - mostly due to my new favorite up the road being closed. I got the boneless spicy buffalo wings and a small pizza. On the wings - spice level was on point & the portion was reasonable. Breading was okay but could have been a bit more crisp. Chicken was nice and tender. On the pizza - I really liked their crust but dislike the sauce, too much like a spaghetti sauce for me but not horrible. I will deff give one of their specialty pizzas a try next time. This is for the Sanford ME Bubba Frye's. I called my order ahead to get the order prepared so I didn't have to wait. It was a large order of 60 wings so it was also a costly order ($66) for a party I was going to. I received a text stating my order was ready at the proper time. So I left to go get my order. When I got there it took some effort to get the person behind the register to recognize I was standing under the pick up sign to pick up my order. After finally recognizing I was a customer I told him I called in my order and that I got a text stating it was done. He went to the back and came back stating that it was going to be a few minutes. I said okay and waited. And waited. And waited for almost 25 minutes. I finally got the order. I ordered the wings plain with sauce on the side. All the sauces were there, and I could only assume that all the wings were there. I grabbed them and went to the car. As we were driving my wife asked what the smell was which turned out to be the wings. They smelled like burnt old oil. We had to roll the windows down in hopes that our clothes didn't pick up the grease smell. We were late to the party. Not by much, but late none the less. The host opened the wings and I was shocked. The wings were burned and over cooked. Too hard to even eat. One or two were okay but for the most part they were over cooked and not eaten by the guests. They ended up getting tossed out. I did, however get some pictures because I was so disappointed. Some of the sauces we got looked suspicious and I am taking them to be tested for human saliva. Several of them had a curious liquid in them that was separate of the actual sauce. The picture I have attached of the sauce doesn't show too well because it got jostled in transit but I think you can still see the separation in the top right of the container. I'm not sure what the problem is with the Sanford outlet because I've never had any problems with the Berwick outlet. I'll never go to the Sanford outlet again and possibly never the Berwick store. There is no excuse for such poor quality food and service at the price they charge. read more

I don't know...We always feel like it's overpriced for what you get, so we rarely order there. But when we do, we wonder why we did, and swear never to again. Last night we ordered 3 cheeseburgers, and poppers. Bill was over $50. When the driver handed me the bag I asked: "3 burgers and poppers, right?" and he replied "Yup!". Nope. Two burgers and poppers. They had to make the third and bring it twenty minutes later. All the burgers were squashed flat and overcooked. My chili burger was supposed to have LTO, while my 6 yr old sons' PLAIN cheeseburger(the one delivered late) was not, but did, much to the disappointment of my son, who was already unhappy that they forgot his burger. So his went to the dog, who was more than happy eating a $12 burger. Can't fries be included Bubba's, for $12?, c'mon. If it were me I would've comped that burger at least. read more

This is aimed at the Sanford location, but they're not on Yelp. Let's start with the 6 dollar delivery charge. If you send me a text 20 minutes after I've ordered and I'm still waiting 40 minutes after that and you charged me 6 dollars for delivery you are officially the worst delivery of all time. If you charge that much for delivery you should deliver the food as soon as it's done. Complete garbage business plan. Next on my list of complaints, I ordered chili cheese fries as a part of my order. Ah yes you'd expect the chili, the cheese, the fries, the jalapeños and the sour cream to all be on one plate. No they sent them all separately so I had to do their job and blend the plate together myself. I know amazing...but wait there's more. Because of the ridiculous wait for the food my chili was cold, my fries were cold, the other stuff was cold as well as the sweet shredded cheese that did not melt. In summary, I liked this place and will return to try more of their menu! It's a little place w a big offering! I came for the wings, but was blown away by their menu selection that was a vast array of sandwiches, burgers, salads, and not just "pizza", but flatbread naan pizza....and what about the ice cream! I saw a father and son pull a couple of sundaes while I was there that looked fantastic. Will have to test trial this part of the menu another day.... Now the wings offering was just as huge! One can get an order from 6-60, traditional or boneless, with 32 flavor combinations from mild to hot, saucy to rubbed. My son and I tried the boneless Honey BBQ and Sweet Chili. Cooked to order which was great although my son and I prefer more crunch to our wings, the flavor was excellent. We ranked the wings an 8 out of 10 (10 being the best). The location is very attractive sitting on the top of a dam in a river. There is some parking. Some inside seating is available, but it's more for take out; however, the restaurant itself is spotless. The service was very friendly and they graciously let me try a little of the 2 star Thai Chili wing sauce on the side. YUM. I think having some kind of taste testing offering to customers would be a plus. "Hot" does not have a universal definition although they will tell you something is "habanero (more hot) vs cayenne" based to help define spicy. read more

I've been going to Bubba Frye's in North Berwick, ME for several years now. It's a standard New England pizza joint, but the food quality is excellent. The customer service is excellent. The owner is extremely professional and helpful. The chicken tenders are the best I've ever had. Perfectly fried and good quality chicken. Plus, their creative sauces like the Peanut Butter Thai or the Blueberry Habanero are fun to try and experiment with. They also have some extra-hot sauces that most places don't offer. Along with the meal I had a Blueberry Habanero frappe. The ice cream was incredible (Shaker Pond), and tasted like fresh wild blueberries. Along with the heat of the chiles, this is a very unique and delicious dessert. All in all a great meal, and I'll continue to come back as long as they're doors are open. read more

We were out riding looking for a place to eat that had outdoor seating, spaced appropriately for the pandemic, when we happened by. We had a chili dog and a cheeseburger and split a large onion ring. We were handed a beeper and sat by the river at a clean picnic table with sunshade.. very nice. The chili dog was delicious yet messy (so what eh!). The cheeseburger I ordered medium rare, and it was perfectly cooked, just as good, not as messy. The large onion rings were huge, a small would have sufficed for the 2 of us. These were 'real' onion rings, many had the breading separated, but some were intact.. but also delicious. I'm a big fan of wings. Here they are very reasonably priced. There's also a great selection of flavors and likely some flavors you'll only find here. I ordered 36 wings the other day and got 6 different flavors. Including the hottest on the menu. One thing I liked about their hottest wing is although it was really hot it also tasted really good. I ate all six and I probably should have taken a break between wings but they tasted good. I can't say all the flavors I had were awesome but that's just because some tasted better to me then others. My kids enjoyed their pizza and ice cream. I also enjoyed the service location and price. One of my favorite wing places for sure. Worth checking out even if your just passing through. read more

The business though... if you like waiting at least 10min longer every time, no matter the day or time of day for you food then this is your place. They are always scrambling last minute to toss your order together, and to top it off, if you go to pick it up you get a little drama action while waiting for your food! The entire staff is always snippy and yelling at each other, the workers cashing you out act nice but you get to listen to the obnoxious banter in the background. The need more presence from ownership and a strong manager at this location to get the staff on task, prioritize orders and set a better flow. Salads ordered looked good, huge homemade croutons! Cheese pizza was amazing. Had a little zazz to it that I couldn't put my finger on, it was delish! One of the wing orders should have been traditional, but came boneless. Also, the girl at the counter (everyone there was very friendly) gave me the pizza and a bag of food and said "have a great night". Didn't seem like enough food. Bubba Frye's has the best wings in the southern Maine area. They have a large selection of unique flavors and the chicken is high quality. The only downside is that it's a bit pricy but that is understandable. They also offer pizzas and I enjoy their flatbread sandwiches. Their ice cream is good as well! read more

Let me tell you about what this place has now done to their customers. I have been going here for about 3 years and getting their boneless wings. They did a special every Monday that my girlfriend and I would sometimes drive too from over an hour away. They now have changed it to 75 cent winggs and you are only allowed one wing flavor per 12.... That's right so even if you go in like we did and order the 36 boneless on a half off Monday you are only allowed three flavors unless it'll be full price to do more than those 3 flavors! And if you do the 30 they still only allow 2 flavors, for 30 wings!!!! The break down of our order: *6 boneless mango habanero - don't waste your time with the boneless wings. They are not good. There was no flavor of mango or even the heat of habanero. It tasted like taco seasoning. They were edible at least. *6 boneless Peanut Butter Thai - Again, the boneless chicken quality was awful. We love Thai peanut butter sauce, but these were disgusting. I can't describe the gummy mass of salty chicken. They were not edible. In the trash *6 bone in Honey Curry - Disappointing because the chicken was cooked well and had a lot of meat. There wasn't even a hint of curry flavor. It was straight honey. Wouldn't have been bad if I ordered honey wings, but I wanted the curry too! They were edible, but a let down. *6 bone in Blueberry Habanero - Again, the chicken was great, but the sauce failed. You could taste the blueberry and the heat, but it was just missing something. It was edible, but not great. I gave this 2 stars because the quality of the bone in chicken was good, the inside was clean despite the exterior looking like it was closed down, the employees weren't rude, but they weren't friendly at all...no greeting, no thank you or anything. I told them I placed an order online and they handed me my bag. Speaking of the online order, there is no description of what the sauces are. Some were obvious, like honey curry, but some were not descriptive at all, like Blue Bayou or Gold Rush. This makes it very hard to order. For the price of $34.52 I expected more. If I could select 0 stars I would. My past 3 experiences at this location were absolutely terrible. First time I'd ordered for delivery and my entire order was wrong and none of the sauce I asked for was packed. I thought hey maybe they're having a day so i shrugged that one off.. The second time I ordered a pizza and an order of fries, after taking an hour and 45 minutes to get to my home, it all was rock solid and cold... I call and they say yeah that doesn't normally happen we will give you a free pizza.. okay cool. I call today to get my free pizza and added on an order of fries... the guy comes back and tells me he's going to charge me $17 to deliver this to my house, because of the "fuel charge". Which is strange because any other time, the delivery charge is no more than $7...I live 10 minutes from this location, and you guys are the ones who ruined my first order and had to replace it, so why would I have to pay to have it delivered a second time?
