2 foot lobster roll is outstanding. Servers are nice. Relaxed atmosphere. Love coming here.

We got there at the right time, parties after us had a wait. Brandy not our waitress was awesome, she came over to our table to make sure someone had been over to see us, our waitress was good but Brandy was excellent she had many tables and some of them large but she was doing it all with a smile. The prime rib was delicious, cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes are real mashed potatoes. Warm rolls were crispy and chewy. The blueberry cheesecake was delicious and the blueberry was good but should've gotten ice cream or something

This is a local staple. It has a country vibe, with a lot of seating. The entrée comes with the soup and salad bar (which looks like a boat). Mom had the haddock and I chose the maple pork chop. Both were prepared well and we both enjoyed then.

We LOVE this place when in tow. Great fresh seafood, daily specials and staff that is always friendly. They've been in business for over 50 years with the same owners. Not super fancy it I go there for the GREAT FOOD

    12 oz prime rib...so good!

My boyfriend took me here last night to get the prime rib deal...omg it was delicious! When you walk in, it's like going back in time with a retro feel. The place has been open since the 1970s. We were seated at a wooden table with green and white checkered curtains framing the booth. We ordered the prime rib special, 12 oz and a 16 oz with veggies/baked potato. The endless salad bar was only an additional 4.99. The cut of the meat was so good! I could taste the seasoning on the crust, with creamy horse radish and au jus. I'm so happy we found this hidden gem in wells, me. The prices are not bad either. Our waitress was Shari, who was accommodating and helpful. She took my soy allergy seriously and the service was good. I'm often fearful of dining out because of my allergy, but she made me feel comfortable and went above and beyond to reassure me that my dining experience was amazing. You might have to wait a bit to get seated, but it's worth the wait. I really enjoyed the nostalgic ambiance and home-like feel of this restaurant. There's staff was welcoming and friendly. I will for sure be back.

We started the evening with cocktails which were very much to our liking, followed by a delicious appetizer of lobster risotto that we shared. We both ordered the short ribs which were mouthwatering and cooked to perfection that the meat fell off the bone. The servings were enough where we took the bones and whatever meat was left to make a delicious beef soup. Neither one of us were up for dessert but decided to get two to go, which we downed once we got home. And they were both delicious. In closing, I'd be remiss without saying a good word about our server Keila. She was warm, friendly, funny, and very attentive to our table. She made our night to enjoyable! Thanks you Keila ! We look forward to our next visit to The Village Inn soon.

If you loved Village Tavern under the previous owners, you should know that the beloved restaurant you remember no longer exists. The name is the same. The esthetic is the same. Some menu items even have the same names. But the experience is not. During our visit, the calamari, salmon, duck, and haddock were all cooked properly, yet each dish was surprisingly bland and forgettable. Many longtime favorites, including the wide selection of side dishes like the broccoli with blue cheese, are gone. This isn't a bad restaurant on its own merits. The problem is that it's trading on the reputation of something that no longer exists. What I find most puzzling is that the new owners kept the Village Tavern name while abandoning so much of what made it successful. When a restaurant has earned decades of loyalty, you would expect new ownership to preserve its strengths. Instead, it feels like they discarded the very things that built its reputation. I left disappointed, but mostly sad. A restaurant I once considered one of the best in Southern Maine is now simply pedestrian and overly priced. Former fans should adjust their expectations accordingly or avoid the disappointment altogether.
