Owner unwilling to take any responsibility for extremely unsafe/negligent conditions that could lead to damage of your property or personal injury. A long metal beam fell or was left out in the middle of narrow parking area and hit our vehicle damaging it. Another car nearly hit it within a few minutes of it scraping/damaging our vehicle. I jumped in front of them to warn them just before it hit their passenger window. The owner said there was nothing he could (would) do for me because I didn't file a police report at the time. I spoke to the manager of Bubba Gumbos on Tybee and he also said it wasn't his responsibility. Neither was apologetic or understanding in the slightest! If you want a bar scene with bar food this is the place for you. If you name a place Bubba Gumbo's the gumbo should be the specialty. The gumbo did not have any flavor. Same for the jambalaya. The best thing our table had was the kid's fried shrimp. With that being said this place is NOT kid friendly unless your child is used to drunk 30+ adults shouting obscenities and dropping drinks all over each other. To sum it up this is more of a bar scene and not a family friendly restaurant. I write this so other parents will know. I wish we had before we wasted our time and money. read more

I landed in Savannah then we headed out for dinner and ended up finding this hidden gem. The outside seating is near the dock and very relaxing. Upon arrival we were seated right away, our drink and appetizer order was taken and brought to us pretty quickly. We ordered and relaxed chatting and enjoying the night air. Our meal came right as we were finishing our hush puppy appetizers. The hush puppy's come with honey butter and they are delicious! We both ordered the blackened flounder, with the veggie of the day which was asparagus and a side of boiled potatoes. The flounder was well seasoned and not too fishy tasting, a good choice! Both sides were ehhhhh the asparagus was over cooked and cold, the potatoes were not cooked all the way through which is why I gave 4 stars due to the sides. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful. She checked on us often and made sure we were taken care of well. There was another server working that was also great. He had a table of obnoxious dinners that were so annoying but he handled them so well. If you're in the area I recommend you try this place! read more

This is a must go to every time I come to Tybee. We tend to stop on our way in for drinks and either appetizers or dinner (depending on the time). This place is a complete Tybee vibe. We were told this was the place to be in Tybee for fresh seafood. Due to covid all seating is outside and you order and pay at the bar prior to receiving your food. They have water outside you can fill from a pitcher but it makes no sense to have seating outside due to covid but a community pitcher that everyone touches. I ordered the peel and eat shrimp combo with veggies and fries and the husband ordered the grouper. The shrimp were very good and had a nice sauce. Wasn't a whole lot. He explained that the shrimp is brought in from the boats right there, and the scallops are shipped fresh from Texas. BG's doesn't have a freezer, so you know you're getting quality seafood! The signature gumbo ($9) is excellent. It has okra, tomatoes, and finely shredded scallops or crab. There are three medium sized shrimp(s) on a bed of rice. Not a place for the black people! We walked in and people were literally taking pictures of us. The place smelled great. Just didn't feel welcomed. Not one black person in sight so I may have missed the flyer. Where to I begin-to tell a story of how great a meal has been. First-the waitresses are the bomb-juggling dozens of glasses of water and ice buckets- not for the weak. My husband's appetizer-shrimp gumbo was main sized and the brown gravy was divine. Shrimp Po Boy-excellent. In my never ending quest for shrimp and grits to surpass my last experience I think they have done so. Also, great natural ambiance and the music was perfect for the setting. After a long hot day on the beach, I wasn't thrilled with the options on Tybee. Mostly overpriced tourist traps with average reviews at best. Instead of succumbing to mediocrity for the sake of convenience, I decided to find something on the way back to Wilmington Island. We pulled into the dirt parking lot on the earlier side of dinner and were able to snag a table with ease before the rush hit. We started with hush puppies and cocktails while we looked over the menu. As a scallop lover, I had to try the baked scallop app. You get three jumbo scallops baked in a cream sauce and parmesan cheese. It's served with plenty of pita to soak up all that creamy roux. This is a must order! Based on the name of the place I felt like I should definitely check out the Gumbo, but it was only listed as an appetizer. After chatting up the waitress, she assured me that it was more of an entree. We also ordered the fried shrimp and did some sharing. The golden brown shrimp had the perfect crunch and coming from a place whose motto is friends don't let friends eat imported shrimp, it was obviously fresh. Our server was right about the gumbo too as it was definitely entree size. It was filled with with brown gumbo over rice and topped with three big shrimp. After a great meal, we were seafood stuffed and all for a pretty great price too. Take my advice and skip the beachfront shacks in trade for Bubba's down the road. read more

We had the hush puppies as an appetizer and the fried shrimp with fries and "hush puppies" I put that in quotes because we only got two. Over all it was good. Ordered take out from here and it did not disappoint. We tried a little bit of everything and it was all delicious with special honors going to the hush puppies. They were absolutely sensational. Even to go, I can't imagine how amazing if you are eating them pipping hot. It is a little hard to find - it's tucked back behind a marina and it is a pretty small place with a nice deck area. I suspect the sunsets are gorgeous. It's worth the 10 minute drive from Tybee Beach. read more
