    Chicago dog- yum!
    Allie P.

Finally checked this Jewish Deli out! The Chicago dog is fantastic. My boyfriend loved his Ruben. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We both were not a fan of the potato salad; definately in need of salt. And we found the coleslaw to be blant. The latkas were ok, a bit greasy but the cinnamon apple sauce was a delight. The pickles were snappy and loved the brine. All in all a wonderful lunch and we definately will be back to try other things!

    Perfect Breakfast Sandwich

Have you ever had a perfect breakfast sandwich experience? I have at Bubbala's. In the photo you see hot sauce and salt, I didn't need or use either. The chicken sausage was spiced perfectly with that old fashioned breakfast sausage taste that I had almost forgotten. The soft brioche bun, the perfectly melted cheddar, and the soft scrambled egg harmonized with that sausage patty like nobody's business. Super sweet guy working the register and grill at opening time at this mom and pop shop. Clean and homey. Price was right. I'll be back.

was greeted by greg on entry, charming older fellow. We tried the pastrami sandwich and the chili cheese dog. Both were good, the pastrami sandwich was excellent. The location and the atmoshpere made it a very relaxing place to sit down and eat. Will go back again for sure !!!

With zero Jewish delis in Marin let's applaud the arrival of Bubbala's It doesn't fully fill the capital J (Jewish) capital D (Deli) void but it satisfies in a similar way and sometimes that's enough. Bubbala's occupies a simple storefront space in San Anselmo's Redhill Shopping Center. If you're seeking a pastrami sandwich with a side of potato salad in Marin you need look no further. On my visit, the indoor tables were mostly full which may have been the reason they'd run out of rye bread. This is when we know that Bubbala's is not a classic Jewish Deli; out of rye bread?! Oy. A friend and I shared our sandwiches so we each sampled a Pastrami and a Corned Beef sandwich opting for potato salad sides (included) with both. After ordering at the counter the dishes were served to us at an outdoor table and aside from the bread not being rye and the potato salad needing salt and maybe some more onions, this proved to be a satisfying, tasty meal. Bubbala's, even if it falls short of being the authentic Jewish Deli of my childhood, is a wonderful and tasty addition to the neighborhood but come early if you desire your sandwich on rye.

Pastrami Rueben coat with tip almost $30!

Quality seems good, but quantity is ridiculous for the price! Literally $30 for a sandwhich with a side (literally like 2 tablespoons) of potato salad. The rye bread was a super small mini sandwich size - see photo. Just FYI at famous Katz's deli a pastrami sandwhich is $30, but you get a hella lot more pastrami! I so wanted to write a great review of a decent Jewish deli, but I can't. And, we really need a mom and pop answer to loveski (which is good but feels too chain-like). I probably will go back but not as often as I would've like to because 1. I had a nice enough fellow take my order but when I went to pick up the surly woman behind the counter seemed like she wasn't all that interested in customer service (maybe she was having a bad day, we all do). And 2. Quantity - seriously almost $30 for this sandwich! When I go back I'll try the matzoball soup...

We've been watching the "coming soon" sign on this storefront for a few years and then missed the actual opeing. So pleased to have a deli in our San Anselmo neighborhood, and one that we're looking forward to visiting on a regular basis. We arrived late on Sunday morning, but unfortunately missed the breakfast time slot (I think they stop serving at 11:30am?). Ok, we can handle the disappointment since there were so many other great options to choose from. At the time we arrived, there were others there, maybe half full, but the service was very fast and pleasant. I ordered a bowl of Matzoh ball soup... a great test to see how good a deli is. I'm trying to restrict my salt intake, so I wasn't sure I should do this since so often, chicken soup at restaurants is way oversalted... the soup itself was delicious. It wasn't over salted, and for me it was perfect, though others might find it underseasoned. I noticed the beautifully diced vegetables were actually a bit saltier than the broth. And there was a generous amount of pulled chicken in the soup. And now for the ultimate test, how were the two matzoh balls? Texture was perfect, tender, juicy, cooked all the way through. But they were untlimately a disappointment because the chef had forgotten to add ANY salt at all to them, so they had a very flat flavor. I consider this a miss for this course. I took spoonfuls of veggies and matzoh balls together and it kind of worked out. Hopefully this was just a one-time error, so I'll give it another try next time. I also ordered a plate of cheese blintzes. These were 5-star all the way. Perfectly cooked, tender, luscious creamy cheesy filling. And they were served with a small bowl of sour cream and homemade (?) strawberry compote. Delicous. My wife ordered a turkey pastrami Reuben sandwich. One minor error, the server brought it out and said "here's your corned beef Reuben." My wife quickly went up to the counter and confirmed she actually did get the turkey pastrami... so an issue with untrained staff, since the sandwich itself was one of the best Reubens we've tasted! Hot, crispy toasted bread, juicy meat with just enough special sauces. The cole slaw she got with it was also great. We ended up finishing the soup and blintzes, and took half of the sandwich home to divide for dinner. The owner came by to check how things were, and we gave him our compliments for the food. The total was $59 including tip for just the sandwich, soup, and blintzes (we opted for water to drink). We're looking forward to coming back for breakfast. And we do hope that at some point, there won't be a cutoff for the breakfast menu. I know it's harder to have additional items the chef needs to cook, but especially on a Sunday, breakfast should be available all day.

Corned beef and swiss on rye
    Anthony B.

I am going to give Bubbala's a (pun intended) compliment sandwich. I had a tasty corned beef and swiss on rye with accompanying potato salad and a half pickle. Good quantity of delicious corned beef and the sides while small were solid. Now some constructive feedback - and not to compare it unfairly to franchised fast-casual - but the service seems slightly messed up. Maybe they are having trouble getting the staffing right but the waits seem long for what should be a pretty straightforward operation and it gives off a vaguely disorganized feel. I'd also agree that it's a bit on pricey side but I don't think out of line for quality provided. Those quibbles aside, pastrami and corned beef that were a pipe dream a year ago are now here to be enjoyed. Super glad that Bubbala's is in our community.

I can't tell you how excited I was when I found out about Bubbalas. I was so excited in fact, that I went the week they opened, which is something I usually wait to do so they can work out the kinks. The location is in a big shopping center with lots of easy free parking and conveniently located off of Sir Francis Drake. On our first visit, I was delighted to order the cheese blintzes and he ordered the schnitzel sandwich. My blintzes were absolutely delicious and I totally vacuumed them down. His sandwich was also very good and very fresh, with a punchy fennel slaw which we ate outside in the sun and were very very happy with. After I couldn't stop thinking about those cheese blintzes, we decided to return during Hanukkah and they were offering some seasonal specials. It also just so happened to be my birthday. Yay! I decided to order the cheese blintzes AND the potato latkes and he ordered the deli scraps omelette breakfast with a London fog on the side. The blintzes were just as good as the first time and the latkes were served with an amazing spiced pear apple sauce and everything was delicious. He devoured the omelette which was totally up his alley with all kinds of goodies, meats, cheeses and potatoes galore. I had told them that I was there celebrating my birthday, and on our way out, they handed me a bag of items on the house which included a chocolate chip cookie, a black and white, and a kuign aman, which was very thoughtful. The pastries were just as good as the breakfast and lunch items which did not surprise me because everything I've eaten here has been delicious. The ambiance is cozy and homey and the food is top notch. My only complaint is that I wish they were closer to us in Sonoma county, but in the meantime I will continue making the drive because it is totally worth it!

Bubbala's is a gem. The food is delicious, the menu is unique, and the ambiance is low-key and familiar. In a world where most food service has become totally impersonal, Bubbala's is a breath of fresh air: an old-school family restaurant where you can get to know the owners and staff, who treat you like a real person and serve you home-cooked food like you're a member of the family. And that includes some of the best sandwiches, omelettes, salads, and baked goods anywhere in Marin.

Having visited New Orleans earlier this year, I was so excited to try this place! As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was transported back to NOLA! There were beads hanging and Mardi Gras decorations throughout the restaurant. Since it was a weekday, there was no wait and we had our choice of sitting inside or out. We opted for inside. Our server was warm and friendly, bringing us water promptly. We started off with an order of beignets. It arrived with three big pieces. They were freshly fried and doused in powdered sugar. So good! My daughter ordered the chicken and waffles, while I decided to try the everything gumbo. The chicken and waffles was huge! It came with several pieces of fried chicken that was topped with freshly minced garlic and came with a homemade spicy sauce. My daughter loved it! I tried a bite and thought it was tasty as well. She ended up taking half of it home. The everything gumbo was also delicious! It was a little thin in my opinion, but the flavor was amazing! It was truly authentic and I could taste all the seafood that was in it. I finished my entire bowl! Unlike the chicken and waffle, it was appropriately sized. When I went to pay the bill, there was a sign that said "free beignets if you pay cash." So of course, I paid our bill in cash! Luckily, I had enough cash on me. Can't pass up a deal like that! All in all, it was a very enjoyable meal! If I'm ever in the area, I'd definitely go back to The Hummingbird!
