    French dip meal
    Lisa H.

Just because I am ordering a shorter sandwich doesn't mean I want it to be less stacked. Everyone welcomed me on entering. All the pics looked like delicious packed sandwiches-and this time I thought I will eat here and try the French dip. 4 inch had 2 slices of roast beef and some cheese. Very minimal. They have a lot of product back there but to skimp on your new customers did not set a good tone. The bread and sauce were delicious but if you really need to cut corners this 4" French dip should have at least 3 slices of beef. It made me laugh is the upside. Setting is okay. Something loud and whirring- I think the oven to bake bread. (Reheating one loaf at a time) Not that busy. Also drink choices were hard as it's the Pepsi line up and tea choices. (Dr. Pepper it is) The chips were also tough to pick from. Maybe I'm a bit spoilt for where we live. Wish there were better chips to choose- even just plain sun chips would be better. Maybe the WF or MV Market Sandwich would be better- always more hearty. I think if they were a bit more generous with filling their sandwiches I think they could establish more regulars- whoever owns this chain has not done their homework on their competition.

Been here several times, their sandwiches are pretty good and I usually get a cup of clam chowder to go with it. They have a few tables to sit, place is a little dark. I do takeout, when you walk in they greet you and take your order or you can use their app to place your order. They are pretty fast depending on how busy it gets. They have a good variety and you can do mods on your sandwich. The sourdough I feel makes their sandwich, that's why I like this place.

The sourdough is decent, I got the Hot Pastrami and it was good. the bowl of clam chowder was just average at best.

The #17 BBQ Brisket sourdough sandwich tasted good! Customized with mozzarella

I was craving a nice Italian-style sandwich, and we happened to come across this sandwich shop. They had a custom option to pick and choose ingredients and the size of the sandwich. The employees were super nice and friendly with a smile. They were great. I ordered the bbq brisket sandwich as that was an option for customization. The bbq brisket itself was good, smokey, and was tender. That was good. But the size of the sandwich was a little underwhelming. I was looking at all kinds of giant Italian sandwiches from places all over the SF Bay Area and also internationally. But I got the largest 8" one here and it was nicely packaged. It was handheld. Hmm. The sourdough itself was excellent and well textured - crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The location is nice, and it felt cozy with a spacious interior. It was sunny and the vibes were fresh.

Ordered a veggie sandwich. The main ingredient is avocado, yet there was no avocado in the sandwich. I paid extra for jalapenos - there was none. In addition, the bread wasn't fully cooked? And of the few ingredients actually added - there was half as much as usual. Quality is not consistent. Doordash refused a refund, so I just paid $20 for a sandwich that tastes like untoasted bread. It's in the trash now. Cannot recommend.

Freshly baked sourdough bread, fresh ingredients and perfectly fixed. So important for bread to filling ratio is on point for any good sandwich. I tried the turkey pesto sandwich. The toppings are not all listed which they should definitely should fix, but the ones I have discovered are: pickles, lettuce, tomato, artichoke hearts, carrots, cucumber, onion, pepperchini, cheddar, fresh mozzarella, olives. They don't have honey mustard which is a bummer. The sourdough bread is baked fresh every day. It us the perfect texture of crispy exterior and fluffy interior. Definitely will be back!

Coffee tasted old and a bit burnt. The 4" sandwich was tiny!! One slice of rye bread cut in half. $9.00! Clam chowder ok. I won't be back.

Offers decent sandwiches but NOT at a affordable price. By far the most expensive sandwiches in Marin.

Got there around 3pm and was told that a table for two would be about a 30 minute wait, so it was not as bad as we thought it would be, considering that the whole parking lot (which was probably the only downside; it being made of gravel and without distinct parking designations making finding a spot incredible difficult and annoying) was full. The inside vibe was great, with tons of people drinking/eating and having a good time. When we got seated, we ended up ordering just a few oysters and a 3pc fish and chips. The oysters were pretty good and fresh, with a great vinaigrette on the side to pair with them. The fish and chips, however, were the obvious stars of the show. The fish were nice and golden, with a very crisp texture, and more importantly large and generous. The fries were nicely seasoned and plentiful. The fish was really tasty (you can choose the type of fish depending on what they have on hand, and some cost extra between $2-$10. We chose the standard option for the day: Rockfish), easily one of the better fish and chips I have had - just an incredibly simple, but well executed dish. While the tartar sauce was a good pairing, the real standout pairing was Hook Fish's own carrot habanero hot sauce with the tartar sauce and the oyster vinaigrette. I have never had something like a carrot based hot sauce, but it really works by contrasting the spiciness of the habanero with a slightly sweet carrot undertone. Strange, but it gave the classic fish and chips a unique twist that sets it apart from the competition. While eating we saw tons of different dishes fly out the kitchen as well, such as poke burritos, large portions of chips and salsa/guacamole, and fish tacos. After the experience we had that day, we will be forsure making another round back to Hook Fish to try some of their other options. Their fish and chips are a must.

She was super accommodating and attentive without being overbearing. Once we told her what we liked, she immediately knew what to recommend and guided us through the menu perfectly. You can tell she knows her stuff. We came specifically for happy hour (we're definitely HH aficionados) and made it our mission to try everything on the menu. While the chips & dip were good, they're something you can find elsewhere, so not necessarily a standout. Everything else, though? OUTSTANDING! The hummus, whipped feta, and muhamarra were next-level--easily some of the best we've had. The CN burger sliders were also a hit--we had one each and they were so yummy that next time my husband is already planning on getting two. The drinks were on point. The espresso martinis absolutely fueled our afternoon in the best way, and we also tried the creamsicle cocktail and the shrimp Za'atar from the regular menu--both were super delicious in their own way. The ambiance was great, and the bartender was clearly on top of things, which always adds to the overall vibe. One thing worth noting: happy hour is now only offered Monday-Thursday, but Sydney was kind enough to honor it for us on Saturday since the website hadn't been updated yet. That level of service really sealed the deal for us. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish--great food, great drinks, and even better service. Easy five stars.

It's inside a mall, and I did not see any directories to point the way. Once we found it and sat down, I noticed the sign telling us to scan the QR code on the table to order. Honestly, that almost sent me right back out the door. I wanted an actual menu, not a tiny phone screen with lots of scrolling and submenus, especially since I had questions about the food. The atmosphere felt a bit impersonal at first, mostly because of the mall setting and the QR-code ordering system, but the friendly staff helped make it feel much more comfortable once we got settled. The two people working the front were both very pleasant, answered my questions, and made the whole experience feel much more welcoming. They had a decent IPA selection and a variety of bar foods (pizza, wings, appetizers). We ordered the arancini, fried cauliflower, and a pizza. The fried cauliflower was the surprise hit for me, especially with the garlic aioli. The arancini and pizza were also very good. The QR ordering setup still feels more frustrating than inviting, but the friendly service and surprisingly good food turned things around. In the end, I left glad that I stayed.
