Someone has to be the hero and let Bubbaloo's know that their rice is garbage. I love their food but their rice is a bland nasty gummy mess. I thought the first few times that it was someone goofing up on the rice but no they honestly think that is how rice is suppose to be served. If you had sushi this rice is stickier than that. I would give it 4.5 if I could, but since the staff was super nice and I truly did enjoy my experience, I'm giving it 5. I had the French Toast Combo. The eggs were great but the potatoes could've used a little bit more flavor. The bacon was pretty crispy, I liked it, but if you like yours with a bit more chew, you should ask for it. The French toast had the perfect amount of softness, but had a bit too much cinnamon caked on for me. Overall, the food was really good, with just a couple small things that could be done better. Ventured out to this spot a few weeks ago. Co-worker thought we should check it out. So far I've tried their hamburger, chicken Ceasar salad and their salmon sandwich. They're so good. The hamburger is juicy, thick patties and lots of condiments and flavorful. The Ceasar salad is HUGE and nice chunks of good tasting chicken. And last but not least their salmon sandwich is soooo good. During the height of the pandemic we would ride by this place on our bikes and it seemed it was always closed. Well, now they have "re-opened" and apparently expanded their hours, Wow! we've only had breakfast but I have to say their Sisig breakfast actually had authentic Sisig, not the heavily toned down Sisig you get at mainstream places like Senior Sisig (having said that Senior Sisig is a great place for a meal). The Longganisa breakfast was also legit. Of course they have traditional breakfast too. The Menu is diverse and traditional at the same time. Kind of fusion but not over the top. The coffee bar is also great. An Oat Milk latte is easy to mess up, but the barista knew what she was doing. We noticed that many of the early lunch customers during this work week were big burly blue collar guys. I mention this because big burly blue collar guys tend to frequent places that provide good cost-to-quality/quantity ratios, and Bubbaloo Cafe does just that. Prices are fair, the ambience is nice, modern furniture spread apart, there is a roomy covered outdoor patio with piped in soft jazz, and a beautiful indoor mural. The staff is very nice and professional. Location is excellent due to the ease of parking and proximity to the Bay Trail via the Richmond Marina just behind the cafe. So you can consume an excellent meal and after, go for a nice stroll to work it off. Based upon the amazing breakfast we had, this will be our "go to" breakfast spot for us. This place was seriously, finger licking good! My boyfriend, son and I were a bit frustrated because we couldn't agree on something to eat. The place we finally agreed on was extremely busy their phone line was busy for over 30 minutes. If you live in Richmond, you know that we're limited on good quality food. My boyfriend happened to run into to place on Yelp. They looked amazing, so we took a chance and ordered Pork Lumpia, Banh Mi, Shrimp Skewered Cesar Salad and Short Ribs and OMG!!!!!! I found this place on here and was looking for a quick place to eat, their Thai iced tea was the best I everhad, their fries tasted like McDonald's fries which Is really good and they actually have a huge menu, I've been 2 times and I got a Philly cheesesteak and the Louisiana wings, both delicious and it came out quick. read more

This restaurant is tucked away in an industrial park and doesn't look like much from the outside. But dang! What a cool little hole in the wall! I looked online for a restaurant near the location of our visit to Richmond and Bubbaloo Cafe's varied menu and casual atmosphere was just what I was looking for. I was not disappointed! The Cafe is clean, has plenty of room for dining inside or on their patio, and the service was excellent. Ate here a couple of weeks ago. Unlike Albertino's review on day one, I visited on day that was sunny. By my calculations, it was 58.76 degrees Fahrenheit, winds were coming in at a mildish 10 mph from the northwest, and the forecast for the rest of the month was clear, which made it perfect for a latte but does weather really matter in a yelp review? I was hungry, not hangry just yet, but definitely hungry. Maybe a 6 out of 10 hungry; Not quite to need a Snickers. I wasn't about to turn to Aretha Franklin but apparently Albertino was there, cause dude reviews like a diva. Ok enough about stupid reviewers on yelp. I had the grilled pork banh mi and the shaking beef. I had to try them both! The banh mi was great. The addition of the avocado was perfect to cut the spice and give it a creamy texture. Then there's the dressing for the salad. Usually when you get a salad, it's nothing more like garnish for the rest of the meal. But the salad with that dressing made it absolutely amazing. With shaking beef, you really do need to start with good quality beef, and this did not disappoint. Extremely tender cubes of meat just rightly seasoned and perfectly quick cooked. So when the weather outside falls between 0 degrees and 120 degrees Fahrenheit. And the sun is hiding behind clouds or in full blast or anywhere in between. For a cafe, it was clean and other than noticing the bathroom was sharable and had janitorial supplies in it, I think Bubbaloo deserves FIVE STARS. This is based on the area (Richmond) and that they can't have that much business out in the boonies.. matter of fact, should be called Boonie Cafe (hah). Serious, it's way out there, and my salami sandwich and accompanied fruit salad tasted so fresh and looked non-thrown together. I stayed there for awhile snacking cookies and brownies and they seemed fresh ... so either they make it there or order daily. I thought I was burdening them; kept asking for free stuff like hot water and extra sauce for the wings but they were cool and quite hospitable. Yes,I pigged out there a little but again, it's their attitude I found refreshing - so again, I do appreciate them making feel chill in Richmond. In any case, what I ate was delicious! My friend and I came for lunch. The ambiance is casual with plenty of indoor seating. We opted for outdoors because it was sunny. We ended up sharing an appetizer and an entree. It was a good thing we did, because the entree was huge; we could have easily split the meal with a third. The shaking beef had a heap of rice topped with a good amount of beef and was served with a salad. The beef was medium well, tender, juicy, and flavorful. Also, it had a rich sauce, and me and sauce on rice?...best friends. I'm glad it was served with salad because it was definitely a protein heavy meal. The lumpya was Shanghai style and served with garlic chili sauce. They were deep fried to crispy perfection. I was definitely pleased with this visit. Haven't had the food yet... But a few thoughts: there are island jams playing in here, so ya, I like that a lot. When I ordered they didn't have two of the things on the menu that I ordered. There's a fat line behind me so then I was trying to figure out what I wanted but felt bad because I didn't want to hold up the line. Next time, they could put a sign up for what's not available. It's a young feeling lunch place in the south end of Richmond. For those of us that live here, that's kinda nice. Young woman behind the counter lookin sassy and texting... I'm not so keen on that. Post- food review, well got a burger. It was okay but didn't have the aioli the description said it would.
