Shrimp and Flounder Dinner with lightly seasoned fries and collards (we ate the crab and artichoke dip before taking pics)

We stopped for a celebration dinner at this restaurant and we were very pleased. The crab and artichoke dip was delightful! The shrimp and flounder dinner with lightly seasoned fries and collards were delicious! My husband enjoyed the low country boil that included shrimp, sausage, corn, tomato based rice with cabbage. He truly enjoyed this dish. The sweet tea was perfect! The hostesses and server were very friendly and professional. The server was very attentive. The restaurant is neat and clean, and roomy. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the atmosphere. We give Bubba's Bistro five stars! We look forward to dining there again!

202403151900 With a reservation, there wasn't much wait. The staff are very nice & attentive. It was a nice enough day to sit outside, to escape the crowds, but it's still a little buggy. The artichoke dip was a little burnt & kinda skimpy. The Hill Burger is cooked to preference, moist & juicy. The drinks are fine but my Rum Punch seemed a little weak on alcohol. Friendly staff & a relaxing environment makes your dining experience enjoyable.

We had just arrived at the KOA at Savannah South. They recommended Bubba's Bistro and gave us a card for a free complimentary dessert. So we decided to give it a try. There was outside seating and was dog friendly. There were old cars snd trucks that had tables in them. I had the Tea Brined Chicken and Dave had some fried flounder, shrimp and fries that were a little disappointing. I also ordered a taste of Shrimp and Grits and that was outstanding! We should have ordered that for our dinners! Well anyway the dessert was more than amazing lol! It was a fried moon pie covered in ice cream and chocolate sauce. I could only have a taste! After a long day of driving Bubba's Bistro was a real delight!

Everything was great from the time that you walk in the door feeling friendly warm, welcome greeting to the attention of my server. The only thing that I would say that would probably need to be just tweaked up a little bit would be the cleanliness of the establishment other than that, everything else was great the food amazing I eat the stuff called the low Country stirfry. Oh my God it was so freaking good. Great recommendation Jennifer. I really appreciate it. I mean, the food quality of it was just oh my God the quantity that I give you is great.

The was the BEST meal we had during entire trip visiting Savannah, GA! The Sunday buffet had breakfast and lunch options. All freshly made. We LOVED the onion pie! This was off the hook yummy! Would love to try to make this at home. The baked Brie cheese with brown sugar was EXCELLENT! Never had that anywhere and we did enjoyed it. Fried chicken was not over salted, Mac and cheese had really good flavor and creamy ness. Had a lovely chat with the owner. They do chicken and dumplings during winter months seasonally. Wait staff was great! Met the coook as I had some questions about the veggies made with pork seasoning. Even with my dietary restrictions, I was able to have delicious well prepared food in a great relaxed atmosphere. If we are ever in the area again, we definitely will visit again!

On the way back from Florida, stopped here for lunch. What a nice surprise. Staff very friendly, place is clean snd bright and food quite tasty. We both ordered the pecan chicken salad sandwich ; but mine on a lettuce wrap. The chicken salad was very tasty with chunks of tender chicken and crushed pecans. Our fries, regular and sweet potatoes also good. Reasonable prices, and food plated nicely. A good stop.

Loved the fried green tomatoes and shrimp n grits! The burger was a little under cooked and I don't like dry Mac n cheese but over all, good food, good service, great atmosphere.

Bubba's Bistro is located along US 17 in Richmond Hill, just east of the interchange with Interstate 95 at exit 87. Heading east, it will be on the right side of the road. My visit here was for dinner on August 23, 2022. The outside is no frills, but it is still a solid place. There is a sign you can see from the street on Hwy 17. Once parked, they have an area with their name on the building as well as a bench and some chairs outside. On the sides of the entrance to the door you will find a welcome sign and the hours of operation. We got here around 4:30 pm, so it wasn't too busy at the time. Once you come inside, you can see the bar in front of you. We were immediately seated at a table and the one who seated us was also our server for the visit. She gave us some menus and asked what we wanted to have to drink. For those that drink soda, they have Coke products. My mom got some iced tea while I stuck with water. After taking a little while going back and forth on what to choose on the menu, I ended up going with the Mix and Match Fried Chicken with a Breast and Leg. I got to choose two sides, so I went with the fries and macaroni and cheese. My mom decided to go with the Fried Shrimp with one side, choosing fries as the side. After about five to ten minutes, our orders came to the table. Everything looked good and it was very hot. My mom asked for some cocktail sauce for the shrimp. She brought the cocktail sauce over. My mom said it was hardly a cocktail sauce, but almost just ketchup instead, which she already had for the fries. The Fried Chicken came out as ordered and was also very hot. I did like the fact that it wasn't greasy either. I started on some of the fries first before devouring the chicken so it could cool down a bit. The fried chicken, both the leg and breast were really good. The fries were hot too and were just the way I would like my fries. The macaroni and cheese was also very good. By the time we were done, we were both full. We had talked about maybe doing a dessert afterwards, but we were both too full to do one. Overall, this was a very good experience. The server was attentive and on point, especially with the multiple water refills. The food was very good too. This is a solid place to come and get some good southern comfort food in the area. The pricing was good compared to the size of the food as well. If you're in the area, this place is worth trying out.

Isabel was outstanding. We were going to go to subway for lunch - saw the sign across the street that said "EAT HERE" and on a whim, we tried it. AND HOLY HELL, the menu was amazing and we ate super good southern food. Isabel basically ordered for us and steered us right and this is a super well run family restaurant that is not to be missed if you are in the area!

Outdoor patio that we will come visit another day.

Brunch buffet was great. We almost didn't go because of other reviews but glad we did! The Sunday brunch was great and well worth the price. The service by Monica was great! She was kind, attentive and professional. The restaurant was very clean and buffet and omelet station had something for everyone. We will be back!

This place was such a delightful experience. We had a party of 8 and everyone liked their food - which with 4 kids is tough! The food was delicious - I had the fried green tomato BLT. It's definitely not a place to go for a light meal, but my tummy is still very happy. My favourite part of our visit, though, was the outdoor seating area. The kids absolutely loved playing connect 4, corn hole, and giant jenga while we waited for our food. Our server was friendly and attentive. The seating area was clean, and it's just a fun environment in general. We will definitely be back!

I waited till 5p, bc I wanted to go at 3p but figured I might get leftovers from lunch. I got ribs w/2 sides which were baked beans and green beans& then an extra side of mac&cheese. Well just as I had feared, that mac had to have been made earlier in the day bc it was not fresh and cheesy. Most ppl can tell when mac&cheese has been sitting there for a long time. I thought since it was 5p they would have put a new pan out. The green beans were good (basically tasted like they came right from the can with a couple of spices). The baked beans were really good! I enjoyed them immensely! The ribs like I said were tender, juicy and a good portion. The banana pudding I got tasted fresh and DELICIOUS!! It taste's like how I make mine. Overall it was a really good experience. The lady that took my order & the one that brought it out to me were very friendly. I didn't catch their names. I just got a to go order. Looking back, we probably should've kept right on walking. We ordered the fried chicken, potato wedges, red rice, New Orleans rice, and cabbage, jalapeno cornbread and pecan cornbread. Unfortunately, the only things we actually enjoyed were the fried chicken and the potato wedges. Once again, it was an epic fail. The cabbage tasted like it had been boiled in plain water with absolutely no seasoning. Both the red rice and the New Orleans rice reminded us of Minute Rice or Uncle Ben's microwavable rice--bland, lacking flavor, and nothing like the rich, seasoned rice dishes we were expecting. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned, and the potato wedges were cooked perfectly, but those two items weren't enough to save the meal. We came hoping for authentic Southern comfort food, but left disappointed. Sadly, this is one restaurant we won't be adding to our list of places to revisit.

We ordered off the menu rather than the buffet -- though both were available and the buffet looked well-stocked and genuinely tempting. My husband had the Shrimp & Grits: Georgia shrimp over stone-ground grits with andouille sausage, peppers, onions, bacon, and a sherry cream sauce. Rumor had it that was the move, and the rumor was right. The grits alone were the kind you don't stop talking about -- velvety, deeply seasoned, the kind of base that makes everything sitting on top of it taste better than it already is. I went with the fried catfish, a side of mac and cheese, and a bowl of gumbo. Honest take: the catfish itself was good -- the fish was fresh and well-flavored -- but the batter had gone a little soggy, which kept it from landing where it could have. That's the kind of thing that varies by timing, not kitchen quality. The mac and cheese, though, was exactly what you want: cheesy without being gluey, hot all the way through, properly indulgent. And the gumbo -- chicken and sausage, rich and built with patience -- was the best thing on my side of the table. On a rainy afternoon in coastal Georgia, it was exactly right. Then there was the cornbread, served with peach cobbler butter. That detail alone tells you something about how this kitchen thinks. It's not an afterthought. It completed everything around it. I'm not from the South, and I won't pretend to have a lifetime of comparison points. But there's a kind of food that makes you feel like you were born into it anyway -- like your body already knew what it was tasting. That's what happened here. Good for road trippers, families, rainy days, and anyone who needs a real meal after a long stretch of highway. Four stars, with the grits alone pulling hard toward four and a half.

Before our trip, one of my fraternity brothers told me that if I wanted some of the best Southern soul food in Savannah, I had to visit Mrs. Wilkes. He also warned me that there would be a long wait. Let me just say--he was absolutely right on both counts! We arrived at the restaurant and stood in line outside in the rain. We didn't get seated until 1:00 PM. Normally, I would not wait that long for a meal, but for the record, and I can't believe I'm saying this--it was worth every minute of the wait. The experience was unlike any restaurant I've ever visited. My wife and I were seated at a large table with approximately eight other people whom we had never met. Yet within minutes, it felt like we were dining with family. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and filled with genuine Southern hospitality. The food was simply outstanding. Every traditional Southern dish you can imagine was brought to the table and passed family-style from person to person. The home-cooked flavors reminded me of the meals many of us grew up enjoying. Everything was delicious, and the desserts were just as impressive. What made the experience even more special was the sense of community. People of different backgrounds and races were dining together, sharing food, conversation, and fellowship. The staff worked together seamlessly and went out of their way to make every guest feel welcome. While we waited in line, a gracious lady shared the history of the restaurant and the legacy of Mrs. Wilkes herself. The staff even provided umbrellas to guests who didn't have one--including me--which was a thoughtful gesture that spoke volumes about their commitment to customer service. From the food, to the hospitality, to the rich history and unique family-style dining experience, Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room exceeded every expectation. If you're visiting Savannah, this is not just a meal--it's an experience. I proudly give Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room a 5 out of 5-star rating and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Savannah.

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.
