Now I have to start this review by saying that this is only for a carryout order as I have not visited the restaurant in person. Simply reviewing the product that was delivered to me. And unfortunately, this will be my second negative review concerning a cheesesteak from a restaurant in Savannah. I know this is not the part of the country that typically eats cheesesteaks, but my God, this can't be the best Savannah has to offer. I'm not even comfortable calling this a cheesesteak because of the bun and the complete lack of cheese. There was a small squirt of cheese whiz under the meat, but nowhere near enough to cover the entire sandwich. And as you can see from the picture, this is probably closer to a chopped steak sub then it is to a cheesesteak. The Sole bright spot were the fries which weren't great, but were at least fried all the way through and mostly crispy. I definitely want to like this place because of their selection of hot dogs on the menu, but now I'm a bit reluctant to try it out again. read more

We happened to find this restaurant when staying in the area. Everyone who worked there was very sweet even when we popped in close to closing time as we didn't realize they closed early (at 8pm.) They were very sweet & answered our questions. All of our food was prepared how we asked. The restaurant was clean, the food was hot & delicious, & prices were very reasonable, too. One of the BEST fast food burgers in greater Savannah area. They are in-between fast food and a sit down restraunt. Order at counter and food is brought to table. Brioche bun is soft and delicious. Burger meat is tender and juicy. This is so delicious! You smell grease as soon as you enter. This is a greaser. It's also a hidden gem. We visited while road is under construction so it's not easy to get it, but its worth it. Don't miss out on their shakes. Made from hand scooped ice cream. They are delicious! Ronnie's is my go to for tasty food and consistent, friendly service. As a family owned restaurant, there's a really relaxed vibe, even on weekdays at lunchtime when it's super busy (and full of Gulfstream employees.) The owner, Linda, always remembers me and goes out of the way to make my experience wonderful. I've been here many, many times and my food is always fresh, flavorful and satisfying. I usually order a burger, fries, onion rings or chicken strips and I've never been disappointed with my meal. Most of the items on the menu are made from scratch (their chicken strips are better than Chick-Fil-A!) and they are very accommodating with special requests. Awesome salads! Perfect take-out orders. Everything is delicious and fresh. This has become one of my go to places when i'm craving a fresh salad. You wouldn't think a diner type place would have such great salads, but they are. the iceberg lettuce is super fresh. They add pickles which was weird at first, but now I like them. I ask for light on pickles. The dressing taste house made. I get the honey mustard and ranch. The chef salad is filling. The chicken tender salad is awesome too. Funny Story. On my way to Savannah, while on my motorcycle, it started raining. With no time to stop nor a gas station in sight, I decided to take the first exit to a nearby building. For a greasy burger joint it did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and polite. The menu gives you a variety of choices beyond just burgers and fries. The decor is car related which made me feel at home. The burgers were fresh and hot. Great flavor. The steak fries were hot and seasoned perfectly. The onion rings were huge and flakey. My only issue was when I brought up the lack of flavor in the beverage machine , was told it was me that the machine was fine. Not a huge deal, just changed what I was drinking. Okay, not sure why anyone would give Ronnie's more than 1, maybe even 2 stars. Went here with some coworkers since we were in a rush and had to be back to the office quickly. Next time, I'm taking my time and risking being late. Here's a list of all the things that went wrong with my visit here: - when we ordered, it literally took the food 1 minute to hit our table. In other words, the burgers were already made, just sitting there waiting for the next unsuspecting victim - the burger itself tasted like it was boiled in water and there was zero flavor - My coworker asked for no lettuce/tomatoes. When she complained, you can tell they just took the burger and scrapped it off. Which wouldn't be that bad if they at least scrapped it all off - All in all a pretty horrible experience. The only saving grace (kind of) was the steak fries which were well done. Well you know, a bag of frozen potatoes placed in a fryer then, you know, taken out in time so they aren't burnt. Now if that doesn't deter you from coming here, here's the final touch. When we get back to the office and everyone in the class we are teaching hears we went to Ronnie's, all you heard was horrific sounds, people screaming "nooooo", and the occasional gag reflex. When we travel across country, I always like to find local places to eat that aren't national chain restaurants with nasty frozen and processed food. Thanks to Yelp on my Blackberry, we stopped here to check out Ronnie's on our way driving from DC to Orlando for a family vacation. We had an enjoyable meal, and I'm very glad we stopped here instead of one of the fast-food places closer to the interstate. It's not fancy. An older place, sorta run down but clean. You order at the counter and have a seat in old, not very comfortable seats. The cushions on the benches had seen better days and were missing a spring or two. They bring you your food in styrofoam cups and plates with plastic utensils. The service was friendly, professional, and reasonably prompt. The lady taking our orders at the counter asked if we wanted our burgers "all the way." We said we didn't know what that meant, and in her slow southern drawl, she said, "Y'all aren't from the south. Are y'all headin' for Disneyland?" Yep, you got us. As we sat at our table waiting for our food, my ears perked up and I got another indication of the local culture. Now, I could probably count the number of times the word "satan" has come out of my mouth in the past decade on one hand and still have room left to spare. Man, the father and young daughter (~9 or 10 years old) at the next table over from us was all about satan and temptation, and I've couldn't believe how many times that little girl said satan in a 5 minute period. The prices were good. The burgers were very tasty with fresh ingredients. It felt like I was eating at someone's house and they had just chopped the lettuce, tomato, and onion they had purchased at the grocery store that morning. The onion rings were ginormous and very good. Oh, and they have crushed ice for their sodas - cha-ching! cha-ching! LOVE the crushed ice. I have no idea why, but somehow crushed ice makes soda taste better. Overall, as I wrote above, I'm glad we stopped here. It was a good meal on our way passing through town and without-a-doubt fresher and better tasting than the fast-food places closer to the interstate. From the highway it doesn't look like much, but once you park and enter it has a warm homey atmosphere. The hostess is extremely friendly, warm and inviting. I asked her what was good to eat and she named a few things, barbecue chicken, cheese burger and chicken tenders. My son got the cheeseburger and steak fries. My son liked the Niger he had sautéed onions, ketchup, mustard and yellow American cheese. He said it was a good burger and he would go again. The chicken fingers were good they were cooked well and juicy. They were typical diner type chicken strips, but good. The steak fries were excellent fried to perfection, they were just right.
