I loved the ribs, they really were fall off the bone and flavorful without the sauce (even though that sauce is delicious!). I was hankering for some ribs and this place had great reviews and it was only 5 mins from where I was pet sitting. I waited till 5p, bc I wanted to go at 3p but figured I might get leftovers from lunch. I got ribs w/2 sides which were baked beans and green beans& then an extra side of mac&cheese. Well just as I had feared, that mac had to have been made earlier in the day bc it was not fresh and cheesy. Most ppl can tell when mac&cheese has been sitting there for a long time. I thought since it was 5p they would have put a new pan out. The green beans were good (basically tasted like they came right from the can with a couple of spices). The baked beans were really good! I enjoyed them immensely! The ribs like I said were tender, juicy and a good portion. The banana pudding I got tasted fresh and DELICIOUS!! It taste's like how I make mine. Overall it was a really good experience. The lady that took my order & the one that brought it out to me were very friendly. I didn't catch their names. I just got a to go order. Definitely go for the ribs, the baked beans, the sauce & the banana pudding. The mac&cheese? You might need to ask them when it was made bc this was not made just a couple hrs ago. Sometimes to find a place you had been to many years before. That is exactly what I did again when I stopped in Richmond Hill and needed some gas for the car. That I got. But the real surprise was not the price of gas, but the step I took back into the SMOKIN PIG. This is always the hidden treasure that seems to get better with time. Nothing changes except the food and the quantity. It is still more than what you expect. The meals are great. The food, excellent. We started with a Beef Brisket sandwich in a fresh roll. There was a huge portion of meet cooked just the right way. We also had a side of home-made coleslaw. The right touch of vinegar and sweetness you do not always expect. Along with this we had a platter of Pulled Pork that was over half-a-pound. It filled the plate. It came with a side of baked beans (with a touch of pork and onions), as well as a side of Brunswick Stew. And if you never had this you will see that it is a special home-made meal that a friends mother would make for you at lunch or for dinner one night. It is made with fresh vegetables that can change every day. One thing to note, that on every table is the array of different BBQ sauces from sweet to hot. You can pick one, or two, or mix-and-match. It is your choice to consider. Naturally there was a slice of toasted white bread that was big and fresh and covered with butter. This is not a light meal. It is truly made int he kitchen and brought out to you to enjoy. As always, the price is right when you come here. The team is ideal and friendly. And if you are not there early enough it is packed with everyone who must live int he area. We actually sat next to a couple from Toronto, Canada. They mentioned that when they drive down from Canada they always stop here one night to get a dinner they cannot get back home. This is on my list, and in my phone. I will be back. Stopped here on the way home from Florida when all the chain restaurants were either packed or just looked nasty. What a pleasant experience! Friendly ladies at the counter who offered good advice on which sides to get. The ribs were great! I don't use much sauce but I'd have liked the hot sauce at the table to be a bit hotter. The long and short of it .. it just wasn't good. The pulled pork and brisket were dry and lacked flavor. The Mac and cheese was some of the worst I've ever eaten. The good - the potato salad was good, better than acceptable, with a good mustard flavor. The sauces are the best part of everything we tried. They could actually sell them ! The people are super friendly and service was quick. It's kind of what you expect from a gas station eatery.. kind of dingy and a little run down looking. At the end of the day, this is not anywhere near the best BBQ place and it's not one I would recommend. read more

I exited Hwy 95 to go to Subway, and am I glad that I did! I switched gears and decided to give them a try and I wasn't disappointed. The ribs were absolutely amazing! The meat fell off the bone. I chose a mild sauce but it wasn't needed. The sides were good but you go to a barbecue restaurant for the meat and the meat is fine dining. I was looking forward to barbecue food, and I saw smoking pig off the highway. I had high hopes for smoking pig due to all the reviews, but not impressed whatsoever. I had the brisket plate, it was bland like it was boiled, overcooked & hard with no flavor so I piled up sauces for taste but I came here for the meat not the sauces. Mac & cheese is one of my favorites and I had to try theirs very unimpressive it was dry & lifeless mac & cheese out of a box would have tasted better than Smokin pig, I also had the Brunswick stew the only taste was the peas, & the toast was burnt. Would not recommend unless you like generic fast food tasting unappealing presentation food with careless workers slopping food on a plate. read more

We stopped in at noon on a Friday and were served *reheated* bbq plates. I've had food from here with a friend at least 20 times. We love the food here, with my personal favorites being the dark meat chicken, mac and cheese, potato salad, the sweet bbq sauce and the mild bbq sauce. The service is speedy and the people are nice, I'm not very sure on ambience since we always do mobile pick-up, but it seems like a nice place to sit down and have a nice meal! read more

We had a fun meal last night. We had rolled into the area very late due to a flight delay and by the time we got out we were starving. This place was near our hotel and we saw the reviews, so we decided to stop in. Even though it was a Friday night, it wasn't very crowded although they were doing a huge takeout business. One table was filled with police officers. I ordered the pulled pork platter & my friend ordered the brisket so we could share. Everything was great. My friend was surprised by the lack of beer but made do with a coke. Everything was delicious and they have a nice selection of sauces on the table. Got there right when they opened and had our food within 10-15 minutes. The barbecue was flavorful and not greasy, which I appreciated. It was fun trying the different sauces available at the table - and the spicy vinegar was my fave. I mention this because my full stomach may have been the reason I wasn't overly impressed. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I found it to be quite dry so I went back and ordered coleslaw to plop on top then I drowned it with a combination of hot and sweet BBQ sauces. Unfortunately, it still seemed kind of dry. I took 3 bites and passed it on to 2 traveling companions. They cut it in half and devoured it after cleaning their own plates. The 3 guys with me didn't seem to object to anything on the table. The delivery was lightning fast and the lovely lady taking orders was delightful. The restaurant shares a parking lot with a Subway and a gas station, making it a convenient stop, right off 95. Buy a Traeger, this place sucks! The only flavor you'll get on your meat is from their sauce. Bland, gross waste of money. Because they are pretty much the only game in town, my former employer ordered this place whoever we had large events. I didn't hate it. My boyfriend and I were driving up north from Florida and after seeing a billboard for the Smokin Pig we decided to visit. We placed our order online and the food was ready as soon as we got there. I ordered a jumbo pork sandwich and my boyfriend had a plate of pork with a side of macaroni. The pork was just okay. It lacked flavor and it was dry. Their sauces were just weird. The options were very limited and they tasted like either ketchup or mustard. The macaroni and cheese was bland and did not taste fresh. We waited almost half an hour and they still hadn't called our name (because our order was sitting waiting for pick up) and then we asked and they apologized but the food was then cold so they took it away.
