Prices are pretty high for a little sandwich shop. $10 for a sandwich and a tiny cup of watermelon which left a lot to be desired. But I really liked the Mediterranean chicken sandwich, and the desserts are delicious. Our favorite was he pink frosted sugar cookie. read more

WOW! Can I say YUM? Came for a visit to Utah, and was told to stop by Food For Thought, a mom and pop cafe near what I imagine to be the center of town (there is a huge park adjacent to the restaurant). Now, being from Los Angeles, we have places like this, that serve salads and sandwiches, and the prices seemed reasonable... didn't find it outrageous as other yelpers have suggested. So was not offended by the price. I had the Spinach Salad, which I must say is mighty tasty, and the caprese sandwich (50/50 which they call their 'executive lunch' -- don't want you to think I am too much of a pig), which was also a winner in my book. Looking at the desserts when you walk in, is pretty much a recipe for 'save a little room' and found that I needed to have the Creme Brulee, which I am told is not offered daily... but wow, was it heaven. My husband had the tomato soup which he said was fabulous, and the Pasadena Bleu, which he also managed to devour. My husband is not a dessert person, but to not seem too crazy, I made him order the mini chocolate cake, so I could sample it. WOO WOO! You would have thought we never eat, since we didn't leave a crumb on the table. The lunch actually came with a mini dessert, but once you see the dessert case, the cookies, or brownies, just don't seem like enough, so we took those to go... lemon bar was delish, as was the brownie, which we tossed in the microwave at the house we were staying, and dropped a scoop of ice cream on it. Yeah.. I'll admit it, I need to go to dessert-eaters anonymous, please don't judge me. There is also a little 'shop' of knick knacks in front that sells candy, home-made dog bones (which my dogs seemed to like) and baking/kitchen items. Cute little shop, with that at-home feel. If you want something with a little more flair than your average salad and sandwich, I suggest Food For Thought ... and save room for dessert! read more

This is my absolute favorite lunch spot - hidden behind all the hustle and bustle of the rest of Draper - it's off the beaten path and definitely worth finding. The "house" it's in has a history of its own. The staff is always friendly, and everything I've tried on the menu is incredible. (And I've been back enough times that I've tried just about everything they make - it makes deciding what to have a really tough choice). When they have their butternut squash soup though - do not miss it. It's the best! I rarely have room for dessert - but the last time I was there, we split their red velvet cake. just... WOW! This place is a treat that is not to be missed. Go early for lunch, though (or go really late) because I think over time, word has gotten out about how great the restaurant is. Even though it's hidden away, it seems to have started to get busier and busier and attracted a crowd. read more

I recently went for early dinner at 4pm, not knowing they closed at that time. The owner (I assume) was SO nice to us and told us to go ahead and order anything we wanted, the young lady that was there was very nice as well. They made it very comfortable and we didn't feel rushed at all. The food was very fresh, I ordered the Thai salad and half of the Caprese sandwich. The salad was enough for me! I took the sandwich home to my husband and he LOVED it! My friend also got a desert and shared some with me and it was delicious! It almost looked like a fruit tart but not. You might not want to come here for a very cheap date, though. I loved how quaint the little house was and the gazebo behind it. Ill definitely be going back and bring my husband with me! read more

This is one of my favorite new spots! I've been going through their drive thru for a couple of years and always appreciated their top quality coffee and above and beyond customer service. More recently Ive stopped in and gotten a table outside under a tree inside a white, picket fence. The ambiance of the outdoors coupled with the light music, amazing drink and food created a certain amount of whimsy that I can't describe. I wish we had more places like this, that allows us to pause from our busy, chaotic lives and encourages us to live in the moment by indulging all of our senses with the highest quality goods. I'm a pharmaceutical rep and spend a lot of money on lunches. Because its company money I don't pay much attention to the cost per lunch. There have been many times over the years when I've paid the bill and thought to myself "that seems a little high-maybe a lot high" but I never checked it, until recently. After tracking I discovered that I've been charged well over $20 per "executive lunch" which is composed of half a sandwich, half salad, cheap bottle of water, and a dessert thats been cut in half. I contacted the owner by email and was informed that he had to go back to check it out. Because I've never been able to get an itemized receipt(used for expenses to keep reps honest), I always had to wait for him to go home and email me an itemized receipt, which usually took upward of 2-3 weeks. Furthermore, I was never informed of the restaurants "frequent diners program" which I certainly would have qualified for. I've spent thousands of dollars at this restaurant, but no mention of the program. The owner did say that "it looks like we did overcharge you"and talked about a credit being issued. But, no amount was ever discussed and no attempt has been made on his part to make it right. The food quantity and quality had gone down over time, but the prices have gone up. The owner has a problem with my industry. Lets gouge the pharma companies. Maybe they don't do it to other patrons but he won't have the opportunity to overcharge me again. There are just too many other restaurants close by who do at least as good of a job(or better) without the overpriced items they sell. This used to be a great place. Now, not so much. read more

Great little gym of a restaurant, located in an older home in Draper which makes it very quaint. They have great sandwich soup and salad combinations for lunch. I've yet to have anything bad at this restaurant. They also have a wide variety of homemade pastries and candies. read more

It was obviously made with care and with good ingredients. Everyone was very happy and my friends are pretty picky so that says a lot. One lady didn't have great english but was VERY nice. I brought my grandchildren who are 7 and 8 yrs on a field trip to the Draper historical history park to see their 3rd great grandfather Henry Eastman Day's monument. We decided to make a lunch out of it and try the quaint little bakery in front ot the monument park. It was around 1:00 and upon entering we were not greeted too promptly and to my surprise they had no childrens menu to speak of and so my grandchildren order off the adult menu. I was disappointed they could have a grilled cheese sandwich or mac and cheese and chips and a childrens drink for a $5.00 like most delis. Instead we ended up paying full price for sodas and for each child it was $8.00 total for their meal, my granddaughter who is 7 didn't eat hers because the onion bread that there sandwich came with fell apart when they cut it in half so she couldn't get a good grip on the sandwich (turkey bacon and avocado) to take a bite. And they put hot dijon mustard on it so it was too spicy and not really very good!! when our sandwiches came they not only looked very unappetizing and the bread was torn like someone cut them in half with a butter knife. We ordered fruit for our side and we received a half sliced orange in a styrofoam cup, and there was one slice of meat in our sandwiches and worst of all the meat was room temperature and that is never good as all food should either be really hot or really cold in a restaurant and I had the the turkey cranberry sandwich and it would have been good IF the cranberries, and cream cheese spread would have been refrigerated properly, room temperature is just so so BAD, really sad! and I felt sick to my stomach afterwards until late that night. Refills would not have happened if i had not asked after waiting for some time. I was sadly disappointed in this place! I saw allot of local ladies there and that is what keeps this place open. They lower their standards out of loyalty! Being a Ballard, Day, Greenwood decent, I have allot of relatives who still live in Draper. All are loyal but they should expect more! its too bad because it gives the owners a faults sense of there food and bakery items might really be good! I ended up taking my grandchildren to get something to eat after because they were hungry. Come on people get it together, If you're going to open a bakery at a monument make us proud!! I don't think it is asking too much to hire good help and treat even your loyal customers who are willing to pay good money for your substandard food and bad service and for heavens sake put some meat on your sandwiches!! And take a refresher course with the staff about food poisoning and storing food in the proper temperatures. I will be making a call to the health food department so you can all get your memories refreshed!! read more

Some of the reviews here have been somewhat worrisome, but the three times I have visited have been excellent. Food is top notch. Service has been no problem- waitresses have checked on me to make sure I have refills and that everything is great. The big draw is the atmosphere. It's very quiet and pleasant, casual and fun. While visiting in the area I took my daughter here for her Birthday I ordered a salad she had a sandwich. My salad was not fresh I was served a limp green salad that was certainly not worth the price. My daughters sandwich was not impressive. The baked good were a better choice. read more

Food for Thought has an amazing feel to it, with its amazing atmosphere to their lovely and kind staff, I can't think of any other place to have brunch than here.
