I enjoyed my Thai tea here a lot. The tea tasted fresh and like it's brewed daily. It also had a potent tea taste versus being watered down and tasteless. The service was friendly and fast, and I particularly liked the ability to order on a kiosk at the counter. The store is spacious with plenty of seating and very clean. Definitely would return again when we're in downtown LA.

I visited Bubble U for a second time during Christmas Eve and enjoyed the honey milk tea ($5.49). As expected, the drink tasted delicious because I ordered my favorite flavor for iced tea. However, they charge extra if you don't want to put in any ice. They had a holiday-themed boba cup and a reusable bag to hold the drink on the way back. I'll try to bring the bag back on my next visit even though it has a holiday theme. Last time I visited, they had Lunar New Year designs on their cups, so I can appreciate the thought put into their products. Unfortunately, their website says that this store will close on April 30, 2025. It was a pleasure visiting this boba shop, and it'll be missed.

The good: We ordered a caramelized pineapple green tea and avocado coconut mango drink with 25% sweetness for both. The level of sweetness was great in each. The avocado part of the drink was creamy. The charred pineapple slice on top of the drink was tasty and visually cool. The bad: They had two self-ordering tablets but only one was working. There's no outdoor dining. There's a machine inside (maybe a cotton Candy machine?) that's out of order. I couldn't taste the coconut in my drink (maybe it was coconut water?). The interesting: It's an extra 30 cents to get your drink with no ice.

Drinks: 4/5 Good flavor, sweet/tart/refreshing. Nice portion, drinks are highly customizable. Service: 3/5 Machine orders, not much a service location. Ambiance: 4/5 Clean, nice decoration, and decent spacing.

No egg pudding! Google said this store had it so I'm sad about that. There's not a lot of street parking bc of how busy the area is. The staff was very helpful. The inside is very cozy and aesthetically appealing. Pistachio honeydew melon milk tea was delicious.

Super cute little shop! The moment you walk in, it feels clean, welcoming, and full of positive vibes. It's a perfect spot to relax and chat with a friend over coffee. The gentleman who helped us was very friendly, and we received our drinks quickly.

Self service and very clean. The worker was kind when handing us our drink. The drinks themselves were on the pricier side (~7/8$) however, I will say it was some of the best boba I have ever had. The taste of the mango matcha was amazing and surprisingly neither overpowered the other. The tapioca itself was fresh and great texture. The grape slush drink was amazing and mouth water. I am wishing I had both as I write this review but sadly I live in Orange County so it's not very realistic for me to go to LA specifically for this shop haha. If you're near I couldn't recommend more that you go.

Cute little hole in the wall boba cafe! I got the Uji Matcha Milk Tea while my family got the Strawberry Paradise Smoothie and the Taro Milk Tea. The Uji Matcha Milk Tea is great, nothing special about it. The Strawberry Paradise Smoothie is very creamy, it tastes like Nesquik Strawberry Milk. The Taro Milk Tea is also good, but it just tastes like your average taro milk tea. The drinks also come in this harder plastic which I like! The cafe is small, but it's very cute and clean. There's two kiosks to order from, and you can also order with an employee. There's also a cotton candy machine near the register. The decor is cute, simple but nice. There's plenty of seating, but the cafe can get full fast. People are constantly going in and out of the cafe so I'm unsure if there's air conditioning, but if there is, you won't feel it with the opening doors and body heat. I would come here again! I didn't notice they had sold ramen when I went there, but now I'm very intrigued. There's also plenty of drink options so you're bound to find something you like.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The service was fast. The drink came out perfect- it was exactly what I ordered. Banana matcha with brown sugar mochi was amazing.

Haven't been here in over 5 years and the tea is still the same! We got the rose milk tea and white peach oolong tea. I like to order my teas with less sugar because I like the strong tea flavor and you definitely taste the good quality tea in their drinks. They upgraded to kiosk ordering and its card only.

    Matcha banana milk tea

You wouldn't expect a milk tea shop in this part of downtown Los Angeles , but Bubble U is a hidden gem! Walking in, I was greeted by the staff member, with a digital display available to order. I decided to get the matcha banana milk tea and a Thai milk tea, both at regular sugar. The matcha banana milk tea was so good! I loved the balance between the matcha and banana flavor, with the organic milk also being tasted. The Thai milk tea was also good, though the Thai tea flavor was more subtle. I find that to be a positive when a lot of tea shops cheap out with cheap Thai instant tea powder. Instead, you taste the quality of the Thai tea here! Prices are good, especially considering the high quality of ingredients! No cheap non-dairy creamers or powders like in some milk tea shops! If I am in the downtown Los Angeles area, I will definitely be getting more drinks at Bubble U!!

Husband said coffee drink was just aiight. I think there's probably a lot more on the menu that's better. Packaging is pretty. This place is perfect to grab a drink if you're planning to shop in the arcade across the street and the little shops surrounding the boba shop.

Does the lavender bubble tea have any dairy if subbed with almond milk?

    Nope. No dairy

What coffee drink would you recommend that isn't too sweet?

Most drinks can adjust the sweetness. We highly recommend the Sea Salt Coffee. Sugar level options: 25%, 50%, 75%, regular or no sugar.

Is there outdoor seating during Covid times?

Dear customer, There are public facilities to sit outside.

Which one is their regular milk tea?

Signature black. I get it with extra creamy milk, which I believe is just Strauss barista milk, which all the good coffee shops use to make lattes. it's the best in town guaranteed. Only other place that comes close is miss cheese.

Do they sell red bean smoothies?

No, only taro, oreo cookie, matcha, thai tea, mango, strawberry banana, and coconut pineapple smoothie.

Do they still have the pikachu carrier?

    Yes

    Is the rose matcha vegan?

Rose Matcha could be vegan if substitutes with almond/soy/oat milk.

Are the bubble teas gluten free? Can the Taro be made gluten and dairy free?

I just asked and they said that the boba not sure that it is gluten free. But the taro is made dairy free.

Do they have Strawberry milk tea?

We will have a natural strawberry milk tea coming out Around April. We use fresh natural strawberry and no syrup. Highly recommended!

CHAGEE Modern Teahouse is a modern Chinese tea concept that focuses on tea-forward drinks rather…read morethan the typical overly sweet bubble tea experience. We walked into a polished, contemporary space with a premium feel, the kind of place that feels closer to a specialty tea café than a traditional boba shop. The branding, presentation, and overall atmosphere are a big part of the appeal, creating a space that feels designed for both grabbing a drink and hanging out. The interior is clean and intentional, with a design that elevates the experience beyond a typical tea stop. The biggest strength of CHAGEE is the tea quality. The drinks tend to highlight the actual tea flavor, which makes them stand out from many milk tea shops that rely heavily on sugar or toppings. The jasmine-based drinks are a good example, with a fragrant floral profile that comes through clearly without being perfumed. The menu has a nice balance between classic milk teas and more unique tea creations. The drinks are generally less sweet and more focused on the tea itself, so it works well for anyone who wants something different from standard boba. The downside is that the drinks can feel a little expensive compared to other tea shops, especially since most of the appeal comes from the quality of the tea rather than large portions or lots of toppings. The portions are reasonable, but the cost reflects the premium positioning of the brand. The main issue with CHAGEE is consistency and wait times. Some locations can get extremely crowded, and the popularity sometimes creates long lines that make the experience less convenient. The ordering process is usually organized, but the wait can be difficult to justify when the final drink is more of a solid tea experience rather than something completely unique. Service is generally friendly, and the staff seem well trained despite the busy environment. They handle the flow efficiently, but the volume can test the operation's capacity. CHAGEE feels like a premium tea shop aimed at people who appreciate the flavor of tea itself. It is not necessarily the place to go if you want a dessert-like boba drink loaded with toppings, but it is a good option for jasmine tea, oolong, and more refined milk tea flavors. The atmosphere and presentation add to the experience, though the long waits and higher prices may determine whether it becomes a regular stop or just a place to try once. For what it does, it executes the concept well, offering a drink that feels more like a tea experience than a sugary treat.

I wanted to give Chagee a try because of all the hype, but overall, I found it just okay…read more One of my biggest frustrations was that some drinks don't allow you to customize the ice level or sweetness, which is something I generally expect from a tea or boba shop. Being able to adjust a drink to your personal preference is a big part of the experience for me. The store itself is beautiful and clearly designed with social media in mind. It's stylish, modern, and definitely very Instagram-friendly. However, it felt like the focus was more on the branding and aesthetics than on the tea itself. The drinks were decent, but nothing particularly memorable. If you're looking for a trendy spot to take photos or see what the buzz is about, it might be worth a visit. But if you're a serious tea drinker or looking for what I'd consider a true boba tea shop experience, I probably wouldn't recommend it as my first choice.

A few other people arrived just after me, but they seemed to know it was closing. Oops! Once it dawned on me, I grabbed a couple of too tempting items and made my way forward. I was pleasantly asked how I would like to pay and I said whichever is convenient. Of course the register had been closed out, so Apple Pay was handy. I apologized for not being aware and was waved off with a smile and heartfelt 'No worries.' Later at home, the brightly colored tapioca and coconut treats were an absolute delight, but the sticky rice mango for just $10 was an absolute MUST! Now I know, when I'm craving this dessert, I can head to CoCo's - in the MIDDLE of business hours! - to repeat this lovely treat. Parking is easy and free and it's in the heart of Thai Town, so it's legit! I also am curious to see how many more tempting baked goods, hot grab-to-go snacks and desserts are offered during peak hours. Many shelves of unique(to me) eats are well displayed and prices are well marked. It feels like a neighborhood bakery and snack shop, which is exactly what it is. Very comfortable, welcoming, clean and nice. Items are made fresh to be consumed fresh. Don't purchase more than you can eat on the day. I can see where that would be a challenge in the future, but it's a challenge I'm willing to accept. Cheers! "CC"
