Had the beef laksa soup with rice noodles. It included a free drink - I chose milk tea and added pearls to it for an extra dollar. Requested the milk tea to have very little sweetness - it was really good for a "free" drink. After payment, I soon saw a sign that a bubble waffle could be added into any noodle soup for $2. They allowed to me add on a waffle even tho I had paid with credit card already, which was nice of them. The waffle was yummy. The laksa was just ok. Meat and veggies were plentiful but the north could have used a lot more flavor. Not bad for mall food. read more

I have to hand it to Groupons giving me a good excuse to try new places. When I saw a deal for the Bubble Waffle Cafe, I was eager to give this place a try. The restaurant is situated in a strip mall complex with T&T with plenty of free parking. The place was about half full and finishing their dinners (it was a weekday night and after the dinner rush hour). Decor was contemporary, clean, and looked much newer than I thought, given the place has been in operation for a few years. We were seated right away and given the Groupon menu when the waitress heard we were planning on using it. It was a limited selection of items we were allowed to order, but a large enough to selection to have something for everyone. Boyfriend and I chose to the Fish Sui Mai, Fish Noodle Soup, and Lamb noodle Soup with spicy soup base. As part of the deal, we each also received either an Original or Green Tea Bubble Tea, and Original or Green Tea Waffle Dessert. The soup portions and bubble tea portions arrived first and were huge and delicious, meeting my spoiled expectations about the value of asian-style cafes. The egg waffles arrived with the sui mai appetizer; delicious, but the noodle portions and pearl teas already left us happily stuffed. I ended up taking my half of the egg waffle home for a late night snack. Overall, this place is a win. Even though there seemed to be only one girl working the entire restaurant, service was prompt. I bought a Groupon just before Covid happened and have called the store four times to inquire how to redeem the deal. First two calls I was told I cannot redeem it yet due to Covid, third call was that they were only accepting June Groupons and finally today (3 days before expiry), I was told to go call Groupon to get a refund. I offered to pay extra for take out packaging during the third and fourth call inquiry as the deal was for dine in only. I do not get why they are still advertising on Groupon if they are not allowing customers to redeem the deal. Also, why not tell customers to get a refund straight away and remove themselves off Groupon so people do not have to go through the hassle? I have dined here throughout the years and now they lost a customer permanently. Lastly, I cannot get a refund but can only get a credit off Groupon because of the pandemic. Came here with my family because we got a Groupon. Our Groupon allowed us to choose our own entrees and an appetizer to share. Everyone gets bubble waffle at the end and were able to choose their own drinks (Milk tea or Green milk tea). We got: - Curry fish balls (appetizer) - Homemade Duck Breast with rice - Hainanese chicken with rice The appetizer was disappointing, as the fish balls were really fishy and were presented to us dry with no curry sauce. The entrees were meh. Duck breast tasted like black forest ham (which was weird...). The Hainanese chicken was ok... a bit slimy. The best part of this entire experience was probably the bubble waffle. It came out fresh, crispy on the outside and the right texture in the inside Overall, I wasn't really impressed. What the f*CK was that?? Because bubble world only took cash and I was lazy I decided to settle for bubble waffle. Having been to other locations I had an idea of what to expect (or so I thought) I ordered the hainanese chicken combo, which I've had many times at other locations with no issues. When the dish came I noticed right away there were less chicken. And instead of the red tangy sauce and ginger onion garnish, they gave me soy sauce and SWEET THAI CHILI SAUCE instead. But I guess it's okay since the chicken wasn't even hainanese chicken, just cooked chicken with no flavour. What drove me over was the stinky tofu dish. Before ordering I specifically asked the waitress if the dish was any good , she said it's a popular dish, and I've been craving stinky tofu so I decided to give it a try. When it arrived, I was immediately disappointed and was shocked to see a plate of small dice sized tofu with no pickled cabbage and vegetable. I asked the server and she said they didn't have any. I had a bite of the tofu and it just tastes like fried tofu, not stinky at all. Clearly this place doesn't give a shit and has no standards. Would not recommend or come back. This chain restaurant is starting to become one of my faves. But this location in particular is one that deserves some recognition. Every time I've gone there, the service was always excellent, and the owners are genuinely nice. I love the HK/Taiwan style of food they offer. I usually go for the laksa soup and try different proteins each time. The food is comforting and so is the atmosphere. They also have great combo deals that make your meal worth it! The only thing about this place rn is that their door always gets stuck when people open it, and it brings in the cold draft. But the owners apologized profusely about it and are getting it fixed the last time I was there. I know they have locations in some food courts as well, but I personally enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant. read more

We had a Groupon to come here and we found the place to be pretty decent. We each had original bubble waffles, cumin lamb with rice, fried shrimp balls (shared) and milk tea. The food was good but some of it was brought out in the wrong order; we received the bubble waffle before the appetizer (shrimp balls), which were brought out after the entree. The shrimp balls were good but I looked inside one of them and I saw imitation crab meat. If I lived closer, I would order take out because the inside of the restaurant is small and it was busy while we were there for dinner. Overall, good dining experience. read more

We came here for dessert and got our food within 15 minutes. The service was fine - the server saw as we entered and told us to sit anywhere we wanted. I ordered the cheesecake waffle - I was very disappointed because it tasted like cheddar cheese inside of a bubble waffle rather than a dessert. My husband got the black and white parfait. The oreo waffle was light but tasted much better. What they should have done however is put a layer of ice cream at the bottom, then the cereal/Oreo crumble, then ice cream and the waffle on top. We barely ate the cereal/Oreo because it was at the very bottom. They also do not have any hot drunks except tea and hot water. Not sure if I'll be back. Oh, I need to add this. The restaurant wasn't busy and we had to go to the front to ask for our receipt. Also, as we were paying our bill the server never thanked us. The lady that served our food was was nice but too bad. After seeing bubble waffles on Instagram not long ago I was extremely excited to see this store open and stopped in for one. The restaurant was having a "trial" opening and it seems like they still have a few bugs to work out. The food looked delicious but we ordered two bubble waffles to go, one came in about five minutes but the other took an additional 10 minutes to arrive. The ease of eating the treat was comparable to popping popcorn in your mouth. I feel it needed something additional like powdered sugar on top or a sauce. The outer edges were a but on the burnt side but I personally enjoyed that. The one item that bothered me about this place is that on the way to the washroom there was a waffle iron on the floor. Even if it is not in use i have a burned image in my head of this. Keeping a kitchen item next to the washrooms on the floor prompts sanitation concerns. I'm going to pretend that they won't use that one again so I can sleep well. read more

It's been awhile since I have done a review, and what better to kick start my hiatus of reviewing by reviewing one of my favorite places. This was a surprise for me since I always thought that bubble waffle only existed in Richmond.I would always go back to Richmond every weekend (obviously to do stuff not just to go to Bubble Waffle. If I did, I would have to say im a hardcore Bubble Waffle fan) This location differs from the other 2 places. Surrey has Bubble Waffle ICE CREAM! Ya it's probably not a huge new thing and probably can get it anywhere in Richmond too but the Landsdowne and Aberdeen locations don't offer that (well not that I know of..) The place is conveniently located nearby Guildford town centre. This place is actually located within the plaza where T&T is. The menu is essentially the same, where you can select and make your own soup noodles. Drinks are all the same as well. The only thing is different is the management and the bubble waffle ice cream. They only have 3 flavor but they give a pretty big portion. The place is a sit down style cafe. Unlike the other 2 which are located in food courts this one has its own unit. Most of the people who come here are in large groups. At times orders can be slow even for take out but the food is generally the same. I really liked the ice cream and I feel like this is the only place that has it in the area. The customer service is pretty good. Very attentive with your orders. Definitely one of my go to places, and much more convenient to have a location nearby. read more

Had lunch here and we ordered a side of salty peppery chicken. The chicken came out quite quickly so we thought it was great..until it wasn't. At first the chicken seemed fine but I noticed some pieces were especially more chewy. When we split the final piece open to share, we realized the chicken inside was RAW. Like, supermarket raw. Unfortunately, we ate 90% of the dish already. When brought up to the counter, they apologized and offered a gracious 10% off the bill. The soup dishes weren't that great either. One of my favourite places to go whenever I crave bubble tea and bubble waffle. Great food, good atmosphere, and fast service. Their new purple rice yogurt drink is my new all time favorite. I drag my friends with me to drink it at least once a month. Low-key addicted it's so good . The potato tornado are awesome too-- night market style but all year round. So we show up just looking for something to kill our sweet tooth. So we gave this place a chance. Strongly a bad experience. We arrived came in and a number of people are sitting, there is a number of tables open but still have crumbs, plates, cup, or not cleaned. We find the nearest cleanest table to sit at. The gentlemen next to us was silent, but later gets up and starts managing the staff. So we sat for 10 minutes before anyone came to greet us. We placed our order for a Cheese cake waffle and the Black and White (Oreo Cookie, Ice cream, and Waffle. So by the time we get our items we were not happy. Cheese cake waffle tasted like Cheddar Cheese and not Cheese cake we didn't even finish it. The Black and White was not what was advertised. So It said oreo cookies but looked and tasted like chocolate cookies, then the bottom was filled with cereal. The chocolate waffle was ok, not much ice cream as they topped it with whip cream. I have been to this place twice. From my first take out experience, I have waited approximately 30 minutes for a chicken combo and ice tea. In addition, the waiter made a mistake about my order. During the waiting time, I have seen the cooker just putted a sheet ( I think it is something like receipt) into the noodle soup, and the waiter took out the receipt before she served it. In the end, I have watched my ice tea on the table like 10 minutes , So I just walked into the front desk and took my ice tea, because no one cares about customers. My second experience is shorter. My girlfriend and I came decided to try this place out after seeing that my beloved Bubble world was closed for renovations. Upon entering, I had high hopes! A quick glimpse of the menu, and I realized this place is more focused on food, as there were only maybe 7 or 8 choices for drinks. When we finally got the waitress' attention, we found out that they didn't have two of the drinks we wanted, and they didn't have taro balls -.-, so really their drink selection is maybe 5 or 6 drinks. Anyway, I ended up ordering a green tea smoothie, and a cheesecake bubble waffle. My girlfriend ordered a mango smoothie. Drinks took forever to come, and when I got my bubble waffle it was cold on one side, and barely warm on the other. Also, everything was in to go cups/bags. The bubble waffle tasted like a regular bubble waffle, no hint of cheesecake or anything. My girlfriend's bbt wasn't that great, didn't really taste mangoe-y. My bubble tea was pretty decent though. It had a nice subtle taste of matcha. Overall, bill came to about 15.75, give or take a few cents. Everything was pretty subpar. I was excited to see one of my favourite Richmond go-to's open up so close to home. Sadly, this has to be the worst bubble waffle cafe location. We came here three times (twice dining in and once taking out) and waited over 30 mins for our food all three times. The staff seemed frantic and one was quite apathetic looking. The food is so so, similar to the other locations but with more msg. The laksa is my favourite-a hearty and generous bowl-but the waffles were a little soggy. My suggestion to the restaurant is to hire more competent and experienced staff so customers will come back. read more

They have picked up their service. The food did not take long to arrive. We ordered the noodle combos and the bowls were giant! Enough to serve 2 adults or 3 kids. The waffles and other delicacies were okay, but not yet up to par with the Richmond night market or Richmond in general, but the price you pay when you get the combo is worth it. It has happened a few times that when my family and I ordered combo meals, which come with drinks, we asked for milk tea when the waitresses asked us what we would like as part of the combo. However, the waitresses ended up ordering TW milk tea for us (they taste the same in this store so we couldn't tell the difference). Yet, TW milk tea isn't part of the combo option so we had the pay the full drink cost. First off, I have no idea why people say this location is closed. It is OPEN! I was extremely happy when I found out they had this location in Surrey. I go here all the time whenever I work in Richmond. Whether it be the Aberdeen location or Lansdowne. Secondly, if you have heard of Deer Garden, this is somewhat similar in the way you order your food. You choose your soup base, your meat, your noodles, and you can include a drink/combo. The only "con" is pricing is $2 more than the ones in Richmond. But hey, business is business. The people there have been nice to me and the food comes out within 15 minutes. To eat somewhere that is good in pricing in Surrey is hard to find! This is a great option! Especially if you're craving noodles. read more

Normally I check yelp and other review sites, and they are pretty accurate. However, the reviews for Bubble Waffle Cafe in Surrey couldn't be more incorrect for me. Or maybe they've changed chefs and had an upgrade. This spurred me to register for yelp for the first time ever, as its not right how low the reviews they are getting. Compared to the bubble world place a few doors down, I prefer this place hands down. Their menu may be smaller, but the quality of the food feels so much fresher. The hainanese chicken rice is so good. I am an aficionado of hainanese chicken rice, and this gets my blessing. The chicken seems free range, the rice is properly made, and the ginger sauce is how I remember it to be from Malaysia. The prices are excellent as well. I tried a few other dishes and the quality is excellent, as well as the bubble waffle deserts, which are fresh, hot and tasty. read more

This place is a total joke, obviously trying to get "bubble world's customer", I fell into the trap when bubble world was full and we were in a rush. Though we'd try a new place, total regret. What you can expect is hard cold bubble waffle, and cheap tasting waffles. What i'm most angry about is the Hainanese chicken dish, with a little bit of ginger sauce like seriously how cheap can you be it's freaking ginger sauce. Never seen Chinese people screw up Chinese dish so bad. Their noodle soup, was pretty much just plain and a large quantity of noodle and soup. I get mad cravings for their honey milk tea and HK style bubble teas. So refreshing and not too sweet (unlike Bubble World and Pearl Fever imo). I have only tried their desserts and milk teas, so unfortunately I cannot rate the food (although it always smells delicious when I walk in). If you're going for a snack/something light, I definitely recommend the HK Style Waffle (it is a little small, so be wary of that if you're sharing) and, of course, bubble waffle. The bubble waffle with ice cream is also quite good, but by the time you get halfway, I find the waffle is too soggy. Definitely give this place a try. Btw, they take debit! Hallelujah. read more

I've been hooked on the Bubble waffle in Richmond ever since it opened at the Aberdeen mall so naturally I was elated to see Bubble waffle coming to Surrey. I know it might be premature to judge early on but this place is currently a let down. Food service is slow, waitress is still sort of in training mode and unsure about a lot of things and doesn't greet customers in a normal manner. I even see them averting customer's call by quickly looking at another direction. I'm only giving it 3 stars and not 2 because the soup noodle is reasonable, in taste and price. It is also lacking some of the food items that Richmond Aberdeen offers...siu mai rice cake - a popular HK style street food and different arrays of dried noodles - one even mixed with a cheese sauce! Delectable!! Bear in mind the aberdeen branch is only a food court stall and they offer even more choices than this full fledged restaurant.Hopefully in time they will upgrade their service, food quality and choices but for now, it's only worth a 2-3 stars rating. read more

THIS IS A TERRIBLE RESTAURANT!!!! First of all, I am chinese and I am proud to bring Filipino friends to try out this restaurant. Every time we go, we always see the owner. Tonight owner was not there. I walked in and asked table for 12. The chinese lady said I cannot accommodate you unless you want to sit separately, slightly rude. Then we sat down and she didn't come take our order? So we went up to cashier individually to order as I said to my friends she is only person and look so busy. Then when our food came she didn't give us chopstick so I went up to get my own as again I said she look busy. Then at end of night we pay separately bills of 3 families. Two families including myself paid but my friend look she saw they charge her 6 bubble waffle but she only receive 4. The lady went to kitchen and with an attitude said in mandarin, this Filipinos , they come and eat and ALWAYS not willing to pay what they eat, Then my friend went to her on cashier and said can I look at the bill and check. The lady tried to grab the bill from her rudely. My friend said can I check and you don't have to be rude to me. Then my friend said for extra 2 waffles $8, I will just pay. Not worth it that she treats us like that. So as my friend pays I walk up to cashier. I finally had to say something to chinese lady as I am also chinese.i said my friend is willing to pay you so you don't have to treat her rudely. She then told me 16 Filipinos came yesterday and ordered And complain they didn't get waffle or drinks.
