As if we needed any more reasons to love Bubb's Grub - the outstanding service (Cole, Steve, and Delaney are excellent servers) and delicious food (and VARIETY), despite that we eat here with some regularity, on our last visit, we tried two menu items we hadn't had before - the cod fish and chips (available on Wednesdays for fish fry day), believe it or not, and the chicken wings. Both were big winners and just add to the pile of great menu items such as the juicy sliced brisket, the don't sleep on on it, thinking it's just an ordinary burger at a barbecue place, burger, because it, too, is delicious; the chili, the crispy yet fluffy French fries, and the tobacco onions (thinly sliced crispy onion rings perfectly seasoned). Well, on this last visit, the cod fish and chips was crispy and flaky and hot and delicious and boy those wings are excellent just naked with only the dry rub and no sauce. And we had a server we hadn't had before and she, too, did a great job with service - Lydia. Wow, that was a fun dining experience. It's not just the food, the service and the more than decent wine list that keep us coming back to Bubb's, it's also the warm and welcoming atmosphere and the feeling of true camaraderie and community we get at Bubb's. Hadn't been here for a couple years. Their Big 10 Bar is the best place in Tucson to watch the Badgers games, so we decided to go for the Big 10 final. The Badgers lost, but we won because we had great beer and food during the game in a great atmosphere. My wife had the reuben which was absolutely fantastic. I know that because I had to help her finish it :-) I had the pulled pork sandwich, and it was wonderful but I would have liked just a little bit more pork on there. We start with the onion rings which are great, and ended with a shared piece of cheesecake which we agreed was top notch. It's on the drier side, but that's the style I like personally. I lived in Texas for many years and I own a smoker where I regularly do long slow cooks. Bubb's Grub is the real deal. I didn't find anything on the menu that I wouldn't try again. The sauce is good, and I even like the fact that you have to technically go outside of the restaurant to use the "facilities" that is jokingly called an outhouse (it is outside the restaurant, and it is a bathroom, but it is a fully functional and clean space, and the path to it is completely covered and paved). There was a cup of beans (supposed to be 'baked beans' that were BURNT beans (literally the entire top layer of the teeny tiny 3 tablespoons of beans were BLACKER than black beans) - we didn't partake in THAT old ass cup of mess. We stopped in for dinner while visiting my in-laws. Bubb's is their go to bbq joint in town. I'm glad we went! The food was really excellent. I had a 1/2 slab of ribs that were smoked out back. They were very tender and flavorful. My wife had a brisket sandwich that she really liked. For sides, I ordered baked and beans, and buttered corn. The beans were good but the corn was honestly so-so. But being from Illinois, I'm a bit biased when it comes to corn. The were done great selections for dessert. We chose the chocolate cake sundae. Restaurant is even suitable for children. I was happy to find beer-battered cod fish and chips on Friday's menu. Two piece or three piece. Tried the three piece and it was delicious. Generous selection of sides; tater salad, coleslaw, french fries... Tgerestaurant is decorated in cowboy Tucson motif. Very comfortable. Waitstaff was fantastic. This family-owned steak/BBQ venue was really tasty, using their own Bubb's Texas Style BBQ sauce. Yum! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Our starters were Jalapeño Poppers and Tobacco Fried Onions. They were so good, and just want we needed. We liked choosing the sides....Mac/ch, cinnamon apples, corn, green beans, cowboy beans, slaw...two sides for dinner, one for lunch. The steaks and ribs were amazing. The medium rare prime rib was spot on. The Reuben was delicious. The ribs, and brisket sandwich was pull-apart tender. The hamburger was a good ole burger. We had come here a few times in the past. We ordered what we normally do and was was good. Got the check and items on there are higher than what we remember on the menu. We got a menu off another table to review our check and sure enough did not match. When asked about it to our server, he brings over a sheet that he said was on the table showing the increase in prices on certain menu items. I said I don't look at other things on the table except for the menu because I know what I want and the prices don't match. He said well prices have gone up because of Covid and such. I don't care why prices have gone up but the business should have printed out new menus with updated pricing, not rely on the customer to have to review everything that's on the table. Ate here a few years ago and was not impressed with the BBQ (I grew up with KC BBQ and am very picky with BBQ), but figured we'd try their Fish Friday this time. I called and specifically asked if they still had their all you can eat fish and the lady said yes, so we excitedly drove there specifically for that. Once seated, we were told that there is no all you can eat fish. What they did have was painfully overpriced walleye ($25 for one piece... an extra piece for $17.50) and decently priced cod (3 pc). I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous for one piece of fish, even if it is walleye. In fact, the entire menu is pretty pricey for what you get. Instead, I got the chef salad, which was a nice twist with brisket, smoked chicken, and pulled pork. All of that was pretty good, although I think it was more the mustard BBQ sauce that did it than the meats themselves. Good though. My girlfriend had the pork slider appetizer as her meal, which included easily less than half of a typical order of very dry pulled pork spread across the three slider buns. You could barely even see any pork on the bun. Again, the sauce saved the mediocre meat. Two stars for good, friendly service and really good sauce (our very cool server also cut the bill in half due to the claim of all you can eat fish on the phone, which was very nice), but very, very doubtful that we'll return.
