After living in Tucson since 2013, I've learned that there are a few fast-food Mexican restaurants…read morethat are basically the same: Los Betos, Filiberto's, and Nico's. Of the three, Nico's is definitely my favorite. I think the food tastes better, and they put both sour cream AND cheese on their veggie burrito without charging extra for the cheese. Los Betos and Filiberto's, take notes. That said, the prices at Nico's keep creeping up, and I honestly don't think it's worth the price anymore. I'll still splurge every now and then and pay the $13 for my burrito, but it's definitely getting harder to justify. The biggest pros are that it's close and fast. I always get my food to go. There's no drive-thru, so you do have to go inside, and the place always smells strongly like Fabuloso--so I guess we can safely assume it's clean. The food isn't always as fresh as I'd like. Sometimes the tortillas are hard or taste a little stale, which can really make or break a burrito. Overall, Nico's is my favorite of the three, but mostly because it's convenient, fast, and I like the flavor better. If the prices keep going up, though, I'm going to have a harder time convincing myself that a $13 fast-food burrito is a splurge worth making.
