Great location , Excellent service, many different flavor margaritas and piping hot fajitas

My friend and I each enjoyed a tasty and potent mango margaria which was a summer special for only $9. We shared a Mi Tierra pizza with shredded beef that was delicious! We each ate our fill and had 3 pieces left to take home. Our waitress was lovely and cheerfully answered our questions. We also enjoyed the nice cool and relaxing atmosphere with quiet Mexican music playing in the background. read more

So, I believe I am doing a service when I review restaurants. Please keep in mind that this is like judging an animal competition. It is what I experience on the day of my meal. My husband and I go out to eat too much in my opinion; however, there are two of us in the house. I have posted good reviews and not so good reviews. Tonight is a great review of Mi Tierra Mexican Restaurant. Carolina, the owner is always so welcoming and friendly. Tonight our server was Diego. He defines great service. He was not overboard with anything; however, anything we asked for came quickly and with a smile. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they were wonderful; although, for my taste a little salty. My husband had the ground beef burrito served smothered with red sauce. He said "Now this is what a burrito should taste like". The chips and salsas were plentiful and speaking of salsa they have brought it up a couple of notches. I mentioned this to Carolina and her comment was "do you remember our other salsa " I responded "yes, like ketchup". Her response was "yep, you remember the other salsa". This was Tuesday, April 28th and they were packed. No music except for the Mexican music on the speakers. Personally, I don't enjoy Craig who plays here a lot; although, perhaps many do. All I know is the food was great, the service was great and I truly hope you will all give them a try. read more

Surprising, Food's really great, service is phenomenal, our waitress today with Susie. She's excellent attentive and New the entire menu. The ambience today was amazing. Got a great singer today. Not sure of his name but he's here on Sundays. Please the guitarist really good music. read more

Food is very good and so is service. Now their Marguritas are way to expensive and they have no happy hour prices. They're outdoor patio is dog friendly which is great and if they dressed it up with plants and some Mexican flair it could be fantastic read more

Three of us went in for a late lunch. Service was very good and the food was very good. We all had different items and all agreed that we liked the food. We also had dessert, one had fried ice cream which she said was delicious and two had churros which were delicious. Drinks were also good. read more

We are infrequent customers as we've been coming here for 30 years when visiting family. The customer service was outstanding. We got a pizza to go and had a Cadillac margarita while we waited. Wow! It's good. The restaurant has returned to its roots of quality food, great customer service and outstanding drinks. There was also good music served up by Craig Plotner. I need to make more frequent visits to Tucson and Mi Tierra. read more

My parents used to tell me that they'd stop here on their way to Phoenix and always enjoyed the food. I've since taken my family there, now around fifteen years later, and I've enjoyed it, too. I hear there is live music most nights which I'll have to assume to be the case since I try to be in bed by 8:30. The food has always been pretty good and I think it's a good value for the money. I've stuck to the by beef/chicken fajitas. I'll check it the carne asada one of these days. The menu is extensive, offering just about anything you can imagine and the service has always been great. I've frankly never been there when it's busy and we've had the same friendly server. She is kind to my son and you can tell she genuinely likes kids. I definitely recommend giving Mi Tierra a shot. read more

Visited Biosphere 2 and discovered this amazing restaurant. Ordered their steak fajitas and margarita. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The food was authentic and full of great taste, and the service was warm and welcoming. read more

We have drove by this small place lots over the past few years but never stopped. A friend brought us here a couple months ago and we have been coming back since. We had been going to a place down the street but the food and service there was hit or miss at best and they seem to cater to the snowbirds. As full time residents it behooves places to realize we pay the bills all year, not just in the winter. This place has always had great service and we have never had a bad experience here. We've tried most things on the menu and they all have been great. As long as we keep getting good service and food we will continue to come here, year round I might add. read more

Food was bland, rice looks like cauliflower rice. Beans tasted like canned beans. Don't get the chicken mole. They cut the chicken breast in cubes and they pour the sauce on top. The sauce looks more like watered down BBQ Sauce. Service was okay. We were a big party and the girls were maybe a little overwhelmed. The ambiance is nice. But they need to replace the plastic on the tables as you can tell it's been used a lot. I tried giving Mi Tierra a second try but I won't be going back anymore. read more

Had the small 1 item a chicken enchilada. It was very good. Then , had the Flan it was super delicious .

We went to lunch with family here today. The service was great! Estephanie was very attentive, personable, and friendly. Three out of the four people that went there all enjoyed the same dish. We had (from the lunch menu) #C which was two sour cream chicken enchiladas. It was served with rice and beans. It was so good that I cannot wait to go back and try some of their other dishes! Since we went on a Monday we also enjoyed their house margarita for half price! We got there around 12:15-ish PM on a Monday so it was nice and quiet so we were able to visit with our family. The atmosphere was very welcoming as well. We also found out that they have an outside patio that is covered by trees so if we have our fur babies with us we are welcome to sit out there with them. Estephanie also shared with us that they also have live music most evenings! All in all this was a fantastic experience and we will definitely go back! read more

Ya know, the food remains good. Not great, but good. However, the prices of their margaritas have skyrocketed. Twenty bucks for a regular sized margarita! Even for a cadillac, that's way WAY too much. Carlota's has better food and drinks at far more reasonable prices. read more

Had such a good time at Mi Tierra. The food was great. I got the chimi style burro and asked to make it vegetarian and they totally nailed it. Super tasty and super satisfying. The margaritas were really good too. Refreshing and not too sweet. But honestly the best part was our server. She was so nice and friendly and made the whole experience awesome. Been going to Mi Tierra since 1999. Our favorite restaurant for its atmosphere, good food, excellent margaritas, and background music. The owner is a delight and the musician (Craig) encourages diners to request their favorite songs (he has an extensive song list if you need help). read more

Another great lunch at Mi Tierra in Catalina. We ate on the very expansive, shaded, pet-friendly patio and enjoyed that. The lunch specials are ample and delicious as well as very reasonably priced. The service was equally great. We'll definitely be back again. read more

Very nice to try this restaurant again and be pleased with the changes in the food and service. We were seated immediately and got a front row seat to live music. We even danced! Jessica wanted on us and was very attentive. I ordered the catfish and it was cooked perfectly with a thin crust and no heavy oil taste. My husband got the quesadilla with both beef and chicken and it was very good. The restroom was spotless (means a clean kitchen). So, for those who had given up on this place in the past, like us, give it another try. It's worth it. read more

This place has been around for many year. So we stopped in at noon to see why. Very friendly staff is definitely the 1st thing we noticed. Not very busy for lunch but told dinner and happy hour is popular. I ordered off the lunch special menu. $10 for 2 beef or chicken tacos, rice and beans. As for the grilled taco shell "best". They offer tacos in the ( Taco Bell ) shell, soft taco shell ( warm tortilla) or the grilled. Wife got the carnitas burrito with green sauce over the top. Also on their lunch special with rice and beans. Lastly we got the endless ice tea to drink . With chips and salsa the bill was $30. Both the chicken in my tacos and the pork in her burrito were very good. 5 Star experience. read more

We used to dine here all the time until new ownership. We stopped dining at Mi Tierra when they could not keep inventory in food and beverages to fulfill the menu. So we thought we'd try again. Tonight same issues. It also seemed empty at 5:30 a 7 on NYE!!! If I may offer my suggestions for improvement...maintain your menu and inventory, or change the menu. Establish a webpage link, get back on Facebook and use Social media for marketing! You have a great venue...the interior is cool and cozy. The outside is so nice when the fire is lit and heaters on.!! And please open your bar!! read more

What has happened with Mi Tierra? I have been there several times, and something is wrong. We go to order margaritas as usual and want to get their special. The only problem is that the overpriced margaritas are even more overpriced if you want one with a decent tequila. We ordered the house margaritas, way too much for what you get, and they were okay at best. I ordered the Chicken Sour Cream Enchiladas. Normally, they are really good, but this time, they really sucked. One good point is that it was served hot. Unfortunately, that was all of the good points, well except the rice, which was great. The enchiladas were supposed to have green chile sauce on top. The chicken was good, but the sauce was terrible. Very little flavor, taste more like vinegar than green chile, and had absolutely no spice/heat that a real chile should have. The servicer was okay but not very attentive. It was several minutes between getting water, about 15 to 20 minutes, and asking if we wanted something else to drink. It then took another 20-plus minutes to actually order dinner. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with Mi Tierra. They have changed, and it is not for the better. I can not recommend MI Tierra to anyone who likes good Mexican style food. The only reason for two stars is that the service was okay. read more

Stopped by today for an early dinner after hiking in Catalina State Park. This was my first time at this restaurant, but I pass by it daily. I ordered the chicken tacos with rice and beans, along with a few Carta Blanca beers. Chips and salsa were served shortly after being seated. The chips and salsa were delicious. My tacos arrived and we're absolutely tasty! The rice and beans were also flavorful. Growing up on Mexican food, the food here was close to authentic madre style. A lot better then their competition up the road in Catalina Arizona. I definitely will be back to this restaurant. Give it a try, 8m sure you'll like it 8f you like authentic Mexican food. read more

We hadn't been here in a long time. Food we had was really good. However under new ownership and they charge for chips and salsa after one tiny bowl of chips and tiny tiny bowl of salsa. We asked why and were told they cant afford to keep giving chips and salsa for free! They nickel and dime customers. Unbelievable for a Mexican restaurant. Made us feel like we were under pressure to not eat to much salsa on our food. We did order a extra tiny bowl of salsa. Service was ok but not like the old owners. We wish them luck.
