We have been going to the east side restaurant since they opens years ago. This is the first time my wife and I ate lunch at the west side location. I had the plentiful and delicious antipasto salad and the tomato basil soup per my waiters recommendation. My wife really enjoyed the blue cheese salad too. Although the food here is and always been great (pizza and calzone are favorites of ours), this review is about how graciously we were treated. Bear with me.... I inquired if our waiter was from IU: turns out he graduated recently and has yet to find a position in his field. I responded my daughter had also graduated the year prior and was also searching employment. When our waiter moved to another table, my comment to my wife, "one day our daughter will appreciate her degree because it opens so many doors...." was interrupted by a text from my daughter "good news!!" - she had just had been offered and accepted a journalist position... I mentioned this to our waiter.. He offered his congratulations , said it was like a celebratory lunch then , and moved on. When it was time to pay, our waiter announced that the lunch was on them as we were celebrating my daughters being hired. Suffice it to say we were stunned at such a gracious gesture. Clearly this gesture came from the waiter describing our good fortune to the management, and it responding with this stunning generous caring gesture. Possibly a small thing, but something that will not be forgotten. Guess where we will take our daughter and son to officially celebrate her new position, where our take home pizza will come from? They really struck a chord in us, and we felt others should know. read more

I got the angel hair with tomato sauce and two meatballs. It was delicious and not overpowering in flavor like Italian tends to be. Probably the best meatballs I've ever had. And the service was wonderful and prompt! I will definitely be back. read more

I love the pizza here. My fiance and I think their breadsticks are wonderful. They don't look like anything special, and are simple but the dough and flavor are great. ESPECIALLY when dipped in their buttermilk herb ranch and marinara. The paparazzi is by far my favorite menu item. I will say that I ordered a pasta dish one time (Quattro Formaggio I believe?) thinking it'd be amazing and cheesy and it was terrible. I could make a dish similar better at home. Cheap but delicious Italian food. I often bring people here for dinner. The ambience isn't the classiest, but that's not what I'm looking for when I go to Bucceto's. Instead I'm looking for good food (especially their diavolo) and lots (salad and breadsticks come with main entrees). The salad isn't the best I've had, but its better than most. I love Puccini's, so when I was in Bloomington for work, I had to get my favorite pizza at Buccetto's. I ordered carryout over the phone, which was easy and uneventful. My pizza would be ready in 15 minutes, which was perfect since I was staying 15 minutes away. My pizza was pretty good, the cheese was a little burned but other than that it was the Campfire pizza I'm used to. My complaint was the person who rang up my order when I picked it up. I get that ringing up carryout orders probably sucks as far as pizza shop jobs are concerned. But there's no need to toss the receipts at me so I can sign. Generally I love their food and the service is good, but I was a little peeved. At least fake a smile and hand me the piece of paper, a piece of paper with a tip line on it, no less. read more

So I think this pizza rises far above the average college town pizza joints here in Bloomington. I consider this to be as gourmet as it gets without paying stupid prices. We had the Bar 20 chicken pizza, best barbecue chicken pizza of all I tried. Quality in the ingredients is key. We also had the sweet lil' razorback. Arrived at 5:30 on a Wednesday before a 7:00 IU basketball game. Plenty of room in the parking lot, maybe 1/3 of the tables were occupied. We were a party of 8. Ordered and our drinks came out fine, our salads took longer than they should have. After 55 min. We began to look for our waitress and no where to be found. After 65 min. We received our order. We stuffed our food down,and then tried to find our waitress to pay and was told she was now cooking and would be with us when she had time. Needless to say we missed the first part of the game , and we will never eat at this place again. read more

I've lived in Bloomington for 3 years now. I've had nearly all pizza places and Bucceto's ranks among the top 2 in my opinion. While sometimes orders aren't correct, mistakes happen when there's a human factor. Mistakes are few and far between and nothing worth deducting stars. Even when mistakes are made, they're rectified pretty quickly. The food is pretty good here, except for maybe a couple menu items that are "run of the mill" menu items and are just about the same anywhere you go. The pizzas are very good especially to Indiana standards. I can't justify giving 5 stars only because it's just not quite as good as pizzas back home in Chicago (but they are great and a close second!). I also appreciate that a representative of Bucceto's comments back on good/bad reviews on Yelp. This absolutely reflects someone who legitimately cares about their business and more importantly the customers. Bucceto's while not perfect, you're damn good and keep it up. read more

Food is great, service is one of the worst I've ever experienced. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday night at 8 o clock to dine in. Our original server took our order and we didn't see him again until halfway through our meal. We both ran out of water before we received our meal and didn't get a refill until we were almost finished. I had to go up to the front desk with our cups and ask someone to get us a refill. Even after that we still had to wait a considerably long time for someone to come bring us water. Because I have waitressed myself, I understand waiting if it is a busy night, but all the staff were just talking, and one woman was even sitting down at a table drying off and wrapping up silverware. With that being said, I will definitely not be returning any time soon. read more

Ahh Bucceto's.....the place that touts being voted the best Italian restaurant in Bloomington. Ordered up their lasagna which came with a dinner salad along with garlic bread and unsweetened iced tea. Unfortunately the iced tea was one of the highlights of the meal along with the salad which was substantial and fresh. The garlic bread.....was just toast. Absolutely no garlic flavor at all. There's fresh garlic listed as a pizza topping. Not too difficult to add a sprinkle on the toast to turn it into actual garlic bread. Then came the entree.....a piping hot baking dish of.....sauce with some ground beef and tomato chunks. There was a bit of molten mozzarella cheese below the thick layer of sauce. All of the lasagna I've ever enjoyed contained layers of pasta with ricotta cheese. Not at Bucceto's the supposed Best Italian Restaurant in Bloomington. I suppose go there for the average pizza and get a nice salad. Avoid the entree's and head to an Italian restaurant that doesn't specialize in pizza. read more

Incredibly inconsistent! Went back to this Bucceto's because on the last visit I had a delicious pizza, although last time the server exclaimed that the first pizza was not what I ordered. This time I ordered the same pizza, even described that they might leave it in the oven a few extra minutes as the crust was wonderfully crispy last time. What I was served was a pizza with doughy and uncooked crust, lots of tomato sauce and cold mushrooms thrown onto the top. If the last pizza was 10 of 10, this was 2 of 10 - and I ordered the same thing. Similarly, we had tried a particular pasta dish as their Eastside store and enjoyed it. My spouse last time ordered the same pasta dish and it was different. I'd say... avoid this place! After 4 visits, I give up. On that last visit the server told me the kitchen had messed up my order, but I took it anyway and told him not to replace it. The pizza was delicious. When I went to leave he told me the kitchen messed up again and made the replacement pizza, so I ate one slice to confirm it was good. Geesh, they messed up last time AND then again and THEN this time! Service this time was by someone who clearly did not care but did mechanically bring everything I asked for (and did get my standard 20% tip). read more

I eat at the Westside Buccetto's about twice a week and I find both the food and service to be excellent! I purposefully eat in the mid-afternoon, so I am there when the restaurant is usually not crowded. Still, when I have been there with most tables taken, the servers really "hump" to care for everyone. As other patrons have noted, the prices are very reasonable. I recommend this restaurant without reservation (although on weekend end evenings, I recommend also you get a reservation). read more

We had been driving most of the day and happened upon this great place! What a jewel of a place. Modern but homey. Excellent very friendly attentive servers.I'm sorry that I did not catch our server's name ..attractive sweet blonde..(from a Grandma's point of view) She was quick to take and serve our orders with a smile.We were surprised that after our pizza was served she appeared with what I thought was a to go box. She said that a mistake had been made when making our order (wrong size) so instead of throwing it away, we could take it free of charge. When does THAT ever happen.? Every time my roommate and I eat here we feel queasy afterward and all the next day. I'm not sure if it's the food or maybe a chemical that they clean with, but it happens every time without fail. After our last visit we decided that we won't be going back anymore. In addition to feeling sick, my roommate's chicken alfredo had a piece of shrimp in it. Thankfully he's not allergic, but what if he was? I ordered a calzone to go and the sauce they gave me on the side smelled weird. I didn't use it. First visit, ordered the penne with vodka cream sauce and chicken. There was no cream in the sauce, or ricotta cheese, or anything to warrant the descriptor. It was tomato sauce with vodka and an odd tang. It was described as being spicy - didn't get that. Please review what constitutes vodka sauce. read more
