Dentist is polite and nice, I never have problems switch days if we need modify it appointments. All the assistants are usually on the rude side. Poor social skills. Recently I was asking the main doctor to give a referral, my daughter needed wisdom teeth extractions, she sent me to an endodontist. . I also contacted them again about a concern for my kid , I left 2 messages and she never called back. I was talking today with someone that has a horrible experience there, fillings falling off, wrong tooth extracted, that is a very serious concern. I am not changing dentist at this time, I am glad we have good teeth in this family, just a 20 mins cleaning, but I will be more careful. To all those before me who had good success, I am happy for you; I just wish I could have been one of them, too. 6 months wasted! All I wanted was a new lower denture, but instead I was told I need a crown first. i was approved by Medi-Cal, and we proceeded. The crown is actually much larger than the original tooth, but I can live with it. The denture, however, they just couldn't get it right. Multiple 3D scans, x-rays, molds, and impressions. Then, 3 different fittings, and it still didn't fit right. When I voiced my disappointment and dissatisfaction, I received a call from the office manager, and he informed me it would be better to seek a different provider and not waste their time trying to satisfy me. He was rude and arrogant and treated me as if they were the one being inconvenienced. He went on to say how they treat hundreds of other patients and didn't have time to try to satisfy me. I already filed a complaint with the Board of Dental for California, and I am voicing my frustration here. I am going to have to start all over again... read more

Lack of communication, care is subpar, and bill insurance inaccurately for services rendered. !!!!!!!!!! Gentle Dental accepts Medical if you are looking!!!!!!!! When I initially booked my partner's appointment I informed them you can visibly see he needs a filling, cleaning, exam and imaging. They said no problem and booked the appointment. We went in and they informed us after his cleaning that we would need to book a separate appointment for fillings that he had two cavities . I was a bit surprised but we went ahead and did that and booked me as well. We go in the second time I noticed some black stuff still on his teeth they said it was marker and that we needed to come back a third time for another filing and if needed an adjustment. Which I then asked why it wasn't done today and how many cavities did he have as we were told it was only two. The receptionist said due to our allotted time slot and other patients and said she'd look and comes back and says he had five cavities. I go to the front desk and ask moving forward how we could go about booking services in one appointment as three separate visits isn't do able. A man chimed in and stated they don't do that due to patient discomfort they don't do that, I then asked if he's okay with it and he says due to clinical procedures we don't I said that's odd Lone tree Dentist does everything in one day. This prompted me to call our old dentist to see how much out of pocket we would have to pay and call around finding a closer dentist nearby who accepts our insurance and who's willing to condense appointments to at least a minimum of two visits and that was more communicative as they failed to inform me and my partner when we initially called, when we went in, and the second time we went in until I started asking questions. Due to the change in dentist offices we needed medical records of services rendered. Imagine to my surprise when I went in the same man refused to contact the new dentist and stated they needed to reach out to them directly. Imagine it even more surprising when they said they don't provide the records to the patient. I then asked again so you guys don't provide patients their medical records upon requests? The man said well we do it is $35. He failed to provide a consent form releasing his records. I was even more surprised when we asked for his records for our own personal records that they tried to charge $35? I've never heard of being charged for your own health records before. However, I agreed and I waited they could only print the x-ray at first and then all the sudden the printers weren't working then they were able to print the progress notes. I then asked for the consent form he said just to text them and had him sign a copy of his progress notes. I waited to be rung up for the $35 and he said that was everything so we left. I returned to the new dentist and asked them what tabaco counseling was if he doesn't smoke cigarettes nor did they obtain any consent or inform patient of it, why they put they did a filling on our first visit when they specifically said we needed to book it separately, why they only put two fillings for our last visit when they said they did four. Their receptionist said she had never heard of the counseling that she would contact them directly to receive records but that it isn't normally the case as we have to sign consent forms. I explained to her what occurred and she said she would get in touch with Buchanan and informed me to dispute claims with my insurance. Buchanan response to me asking questions for a second time "Hello, this is Buchanan dental. We examine all patients who turn 18 for tobacco habits irrespective of the patient is smoker or a non smoker. This is the insurance guide lines. You did not pay $35 for the report. Please pay $35 and collect your updated report showing completion of all 4 fillings. As opted by you we have removed you from our patient list. Buchanan Dental runs a professional business with a friendly staff. I contacted this dental office because they provide service for adults and children. The gentleman on the phone was patient and informative. He scheduled a full exam for myself and my daughter's first check-up in one appointment. I was anxious leading up to my visit, worried about the outcome and how my child would react. Upon arrival I was greeted by a nice young lady that started the initial paperwork. I was promptly welcomed by Dr. Shobha Narsimhan and her assistant. They both went above and beyond to ease my nerves and accommodate my child's comfort. First time coming here and it was such a great experience!!! The older gentleman at the front was VERY polite to me and welcomed me ! A younger man and a woman at the front as well were very nice. Dr shobha is AMAZING ! I've had nothing but issues at my previous dental office and she was able to walk me through every issue with my teeth! She wrote me my referral for my wisdomm teeth she scheduled me for the following week to begin the process of removing my old fillings and getting new ones put in ! She advised me on the BEST dental options for my teeth (extractions/ filling type) and was very informative ! She is just a rockstar total difference from my previous Dentist. Buchanan Dental is not respectful of their patients' time, they don't submit paperwork in a timely fashion, and they have the bizarre and frustrating attitude that the patient should be thankful and beholden to them, even though we're paying THEIR bills. I definitely can't recommend them. I will explain further; I first saw Buchanan Dental in July of 2019 for a three-part dental procedure. The first stage was a deep cleaning. In July they took an x-ray and I immediately got concerned. I was looking at their x-ray screen and saw my x-ray was pure static. They told me I was done and I had to point out to them "Hey, I think your x-rays didn't turn out". They said "oh yeah, you're right" and retook them. That should have been my first warning sign. During that July appointment, they said they would submit paperwork for my deep cleaning authorization to my insurance. I patiently waited for 2 months, checking in occasionally. Each time they would tell me "well, it takes a while". I finally decided to call my insurance in mid-September to see what the holdup was. They reported to me that they haven't received ANYTHING from Buchanan Dental. I called Buchanan, calm but upset, and ask them why nothing has been submitted for 2 months. The office manager took on a bizarre and frustrating attitude and started lecturing me on why I should be thanking them for even seeing me because my insurance was difficult to work with. This went on for a while, and I know in the back of my head that I'm tied to them because I don't want to start over somewhere else, so I just tell them I don't really understand their attitude and I think it's a little odd, and then I move on. A month later it's mid-October, and I inquire again. Buchanan tells me they still haven't heard anything, so I call my insurance. My insurance tells me they finally received the request for a deep cleaning in mid-September (coincidentally when I called Buchanan to complain), and that the very next day (mid-September) they requested better x-rays before they could approve. Buchanan didn't mention this to me in the past month from September to October. A month later, in November, I finally get my SECOND x-rays and the waiting begins again. My insurance gets the x-rays 2 weeks later (hey it's better than 2 months) and approves the cleaning the next day. Another month after that, mid-December, I finally have my deep cleaning. 6 MONTHS HAS PASSED SINCE MY FIRST APPOINTMENT! Now that I am no longer tied with Buchanan Dental, I transfer to Bay View Dental in the same office complex. At Bayview I have a very different and much more expedient experience. I am seen within a week for my intake, stage 2 of my treatment happens the next week, and my insurance has the paperwork for stage 3 a week later. And that brings us to today. There were two other irritating things about Buchanan Dental. At one point I missed an appointment by an hour. When I got seen for my next appointment (which was already scheduled for the next day), I apologize profusely to the doctor, accepting all the blame on myself. Instead of even acknowledging my apology, she literally just stared at me in judgment and said nothing. She just stared in awkward silence. A simple "thank you for the apology" would have been nice. Buchanan also told me on numerous occasions that they had submitted paperwork for stage three of my treatment. To this day my insurance says they have never received anything. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would!!! Took my 7 year old here because of tooth pain to one of her Cap's on her back teeth. They quickly took a X-ray of mouth(not a good one) and said there's nothing wrong with her tooth and sent us in our way with antibiotics for just in case(appointment was less than 10 minutes time)Took the 7 days worth and still in just as much pain as the first day momma intuitions said there was something more going on, so I took her to a great place still close by,got us an appointment for next day they took tons of xrays and quickly gave us anwsers we new were there, the new place said she couldn't beleive this place let her leave with out telling me that same tooth needs to be Extracted thats there's no saving it and it's going to cause a lot more problems if it doesn't come out while there checking out that tooth and looking at other xrays they say her spacer on top needs to come out as well that it's blocking her adult tooth from coming down causing her swollen gums to cover spacer causing more pain to her small child mouth.. These people sent my babygirl away like she had nothing wrong didn't even take time to really look at her problems and thought just sending us with anabiotic's would shut us up.. I have 2 other small children I will not ever take here this place disgusted me the way they turned my girl away not caring if it was going to help or not.. If your looking for a place to take your child I would not recommend this place at all!!! This place is amazing! Excellent customer service from the staff and Dr. Shobha. Not to mention her husband at the front desk is awesome as well. I liked them so much after taking my kids, I decided to come here. Dr. Shobha explains in detail what's going on so you don't feel left in the dark. This dentist is terrible. Here's why. 1/ The dentist has no bedside manner. She doesn't know how to treat young children with kindness. Today my son needed a tooth extraction. She needed to give him a shot of Novacaine but he was scared, as expected of an 11 year old. She brings out the needle and puts it in his face which freaked him out. As an adult the needle freaks me out too. My son is crying because he's afraid and the dentist is getting frustrated. So I ask her to put more gel on the area. She throws down the needle and gets the gel and tells me she can't just keep doing that. She's rude, condescending and disrespectful. My son's father tried to discuss this with her and she's talking over him. A dentist should know how to ease your discomfort, especially with children. To top it off, the dental assistant that was with a patient, actually stopped what she was doing to come over and say that we are not here to argue. There would be no arguing if the dentist would listen to our concerns rather than talk over us. 2/ Appointments. They schedule everyone for the same time. I usually go on Saturdays with my son and the appointment is usually for 9am or 9:30am. We would arrive 10 minutes early and there would be people there and they are being seen. Sometimes we would have to wait 20-45 minutes. Today my son arrived first and he was being seen. I arrive a few minutes before my appointment at 9:30. After a few minutes I ask the receptionist, am I going to be seen soon and he tells me, no because I'm late. He checked the appointment and said, "oh it was 9:30". He didn't even apologize. They take me into a room, set me up and had me waiting there. After the debacle with my son, we left. I waited at the reception desk to pay my co-pay and he looks over and says "what?". Just plain rude all around. Why even set an appointment? 3/ The office is not very clean. The chairs are dusty. The equipment is not wiped down after use. It just looks dingy. 4/ We have to ask for our dental kit every time before we leave. Isn't it a standard thing to give your patients a little care package after the visit? I am a believer of giving people chances to do better. I did not like this office on my first visit, but I chose this dentist due to convenience (a few minutes from my home). After today, I am going back to my original dentist in Concord. I see good reviews on here because most come from Western Dental or have never had an amazing dentist. And most have just had regular visits. The true test of a good dentist is when you have to deal with more difficult tasks. This dentist failed. went to Buchanan dental in Antioch, as a new customer , went in to have a molar and my wisdom teeth removed, after telling the dentist that i am in pain, and haven't been able to eat or drink with out pain, let alone get any decent sleep with out waking up due to major pain, and all they did was take some x-rays , and sent me home with Motrin , went back the next day because the pain meds weren't working , and asked for something stronger, and all they gave me was Tylenol, and told me they couldn't even remove the wisdom teeth and had to refer me to another place, only to find out that the first visit would be a consultation , and it would take 4 weeks for me to have the work done. This place is the saddest excuse for a dental office, its more like a dental monitor that only tells you about an issue with out doing anything about it. read more

I gave them 1 star but they don't deserve that. The front desk receptionist I believe her name was Erica is very rude and unprofessional. She called the day of my appointment and told me she needed to reschedule. I asked why she stated the system was down for dent-cal patients but if you had private insurance you could come in. I told her I have private insurance. I came in the office with my daughter did all my paperwork then she stated she couldn't see Aetna patients after she knew what insurance I had. I called Aetna that stated they would call so I could be seen. They refused to service me and my daughter. What a waste of a day. She doesn't need to be working at a front desk if she's passing judgement on what insurance you have and lying about it. I will also be submitting a claim to the dental board.
