This place needs to be recognized more... or maybe not and I can keep it to myself haha. I love how the restaurant is 'hidden' but also in plain site. Inside, the restaurant is covered with plants, arts, and has that dark, sexy vibe. We came here for a double date for restaurant week but opted for the main menu. Our server was Shreese and she made the entire experience top notch. We got the crispy rice egg yolk nigiri and hamachi crudo. Per Shereese's rec, smear the cured egg yolk on the hamachi and it's so good! Shereese also brought us ravioli to try with fried sage which was decadent and exploded with flavor. For entrees, I got the wagyu NY strip with bone marrow butter and a pommes puree. My boyfriend got the bison ribeye. Both were delicious and had a nice crust on the outside. Didn't have room for dessert but you only live once so make room. The banana bread banana split was to die for. If you go here for one thing, it has to be that. But you should go anyways to try the great dishes this spot has to offer. read more

I mainly went here for the happy hour- I showed up exactly at 4pm when happy hour started and the host stated they were very busy that night and there was a 1 hour and 30 minute limit in the dining area for happy hour. I decided to sit at the bar instead as there was no time limit. The bartender was not very good as providing recommendations of stating what did and did not go together. Come to find out the nigiri pairs well with the yolk rice cake, but we didn't know that so we ordered them separately and didn't get the full experience. The meatball was just odd as it was mixed with bison meat but the tomato sauce was very acidly and the cheese was a weird consistency. Not sure if that was what they were going for but it wasn't my thing or my friend's either so we just finished it as we paid for it. Happy hour cocktail menu is very limited as I'm not much of a brown liquor girl or martini person and that was all that was available outside of wine. I do understand the restaurant does not have seed oils however the pasta we got was very salty and peppery at the same time. I was so excited to finally visit The Ends. I was a huge fan of Anthony Bourdain and just knew the food here would be phenomenal. We originally tried to make the reservation by calling and said it was for 6 people on Saturday 5/30. We were told any parties of 6 or more would need to speak to the event planner. Odd, but okay. The event planner essentially offered a curated menu that was $150 a person or said if we went with the full menu we would agree the minimum spend was $150 per person. What lol and no thanks. We moved our reservation to another restaurant for Saturday but had someone have a change of plans so went on OpenTable to make a reservation for Sunday, since now we were only a party of 5. When we went to do that it would let us make a reservation for 6, so I'm not sure why we were told our original party of 6 needed an event planner. Anyway we were still super excited for our reservation on Sunday. The hostess was very nice and our table was ready for us. However, that's where our great service ended. Our waitress was Krissy G and it was odd from the beginning. I ordered the Crispy Egg Yolk Nigiri and she said "oh so one for everyone at the table?" What lol no, just for me, the person who ordered it. Others had ordered different appetizers so it's not like we just ordered the 2 pieces for the table and that was it. We also had an order of the fries (super disappointing btw they literally looked like a bowl of fries served at Denny's) and the meatball. The Nigiri and Meatball were phenomenal. I'd reorder both. When we placed our drink order she said they were out of iced tea so I ordered a Diet Coke. It was not disclosed soda refills were not free. I get it, this is a higher end restaurant, but if you are charging $5 per Diet Coke something should be said. For my main entree I started with the Cesar Salad and had the Short Rib Pasta. After taking out order that was the last we saw of Krissy until she came back asking if we wanted dessert. No check ins at all and we did have a couple of things that could have been easily corrected should she have bothered to stop by our table AT ALL. I would have LOVED some pepper on my salad. It's not in the table and I didn't see her anywhere to even flag her down so just ate it how it was. When our entrees were delivered we had 2 people sharing the Bison Ribeye, but they only brought one fork. Again, we sat and waited to see if we could catch her. Finally flagged down another employee who brought my friend a fork about 15 min after his entree was delivered and by this time food was cold. I will say everyone raved about their food. The quality of ingredients and preparation is evident, but the lack of service really ruined our experience. Of course when it was time to pay Krissy was very chatty and seemingly attentive which is normal when you are about to ask for a tip, but just makes it worse to the paying customer. Ambiance of the restaurant is excellent. Very chill vibe, low lights and while others say it's loud we didn't find it to be. I loved the decor and of course the huge portrait of Anthony Bourdain. Our little group decided to treat ourselves for a job well done. We decided to try this place, and we did not make a reservation. We walked in and told the greeter that we were hoping to get a table. She told us it was nearly impossible without a reservation. I guess she saw the disappointment on our faces, because she said she could seat us at an "hour" table. We took it. This place was upscale and a little fancy for me. . . lol. . . it was beautiful, but a little too dim for me. We all had to turn on our phone lights to read the menu. . . lol. . . I had brisket burnt ends and Brussel sprouts. The others ordered short rib agnolotti and handmade ravioli. The girls all had alcoholic drinks, and I had housemade lemonade. The lemonade was very tart; I don't believe I finished it. I think we were all surprised at the portion size. My portions were perfect and tasted fabulous. I even had some to share. I guess the girls who ordered the short rib agnolotti didn't realize it was pasta. They thought they were getting short ribs. Despite the portion sizes, we all shared. Everyone truly enjoyed their meal and sadly wanted more. I think we stayed past our hour, but no one said anything. I was really excited to try this place since it first came out but the rumor mill was that this restaurant paid for hundreds of positive reviews to get the hype it was getting. I purposely waited a year after it opened to see more of these genuine reviews flow in and it continued to be positive. I also loved the fact that it is seed oil free. Based on all of that, I was a bit disappointed with the entrees. Their appetizers were my favorite part. The meatball is pretty great and the biscuits is actually the best I've ever had. But that's all I liked. The ravioli had a huge peice of fat in one of them that it was so hard, like a peice of bone with fat. I did mention this to the waitress who was willing to replace the dish but I declined since I didn't want to wait that long for another meal. However, I was disappointed to see they didn't at least discount that meal. Also, the vinegar was a bit overpowering that it made the meal a little cheap tasting in my opinion. My date had the Branzino and personally, it was pretty basic. That turned me off enough to not really want to come back which is such a shame since there aren't many seed oil free restaurants. Came here for the first time for my birthday dinner with my girlfriend and was excited to try it. I had received gift cards beforehand, which is what led me to book a reservation here in the first place. Starting with the positives: the staff were friendly, and our server was helpful when it came to recommendations. The steak has good flavor and I could tell it was good quality. That being said, the experience had a few letdowns. It was a Saturday around 5pm, so I expected it to be busy, but it still took well over 20 minutes just to get our drinks and put in our food order. I also overheard the table next to us mentioning similar issues with the service. For the price, the portions didn't really match up. The steak itself was a good size, but the mashed potatoes were very runny and the portion was small. Also, I specifically asked if there was any sauce or gravy on the steak or potatoes and was told no, but when the food came out, there clearly was- which I would have ordered without. The biggest disappointment came at the end when I went to pay. I was told only one gift card could be used per transaction, which kind of defeated the whole purpose of coming here. So, reservations are definitely recommended (easy peasy on OpenTable). We had the: *Brussel Sprout Salad ($18.00) - honestly I was hesitant to order this salad but it was so good - perfectly dressed, good balance of crispy fried brussel sprouts as well as raw. yum. *Mushroom Pasta ($26.00) - sooo rich and shroom forward as expected *Tomahawk Taco Tuesday ($165.00) - it's higher since we added shrimp but the usual cost is $200. This was A LOT of food. We had plenty leftover for a party of 3 gals. *Banana Bread Split - i've noticed that banana bread is VERY popular on dessert menus in Scottsdale/Phoenix/Tempe for some reason but I will say this is probably the best rendition I've had. The hostess and our waitress were both very friendly and gave solid recommendations. We shared everything so we could try a few different dishes. We started with the burnt ends, which were super flavorful, and we both loved the sauce, but the portion felt a bit small for the price. For our main, we had the wagyu NY strip. It was cooked perfectly with a great crust, which is my favorite part. It was a good steak, though I am not sure I would have been able to tell it was wagyu. The bone marrow butter was good but a little on the sweet side, I think from caramelized brown sugar, and we would have preferred it more savory. The potatoes were phenomenal, we just wish there had been more of them. We also tried the mushroom pasta, which was really good with perfectly cooked noodles. A friend and I recently came here for a birthday dinner, and it did not disappoint! I absolutely loved the vibe from the get-go, it felt intimate in a high energy setting with modern interior. After looking over the menu, we ordered the carpaccio to start off with. It was exquisite. Every bite was a bit different; the flavors were complex and worked well together. For our main entrees we ordered the mushroom pasta to share, the pan seared scallops, and the prime beef filet as our respective dishes. We also ordered a side of the tallow fries. My friend who isn't a big fan of mushrooms, highly enjoyed the pasta. The pasta was tender and fell off our forks easily. You would think it would've been heavy and rich, but it was surprisingly light, which we loved. I would also say the same thing about the risotto part of my scallop entree. Usually, whenever I get risotto, it would be overwhelmingly rich, but this one was not. The scallops were also tender and well-seasoned, not overly salted. Since we always have room for dessert, we ordered the croissant bread and butter pudding. This dessert tasted a bit citrus-y with the usual buttery croissant flavor being more subtle. Overall, we had a great dining experience at The Ends. Service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. Appetizers were okay. I'm a sucker for beef carpaccio, but this is the only time I ever didn't like it. I love beef, and I love arugula, but it tasted like the arugula was sitting in lemon juice for so long before plating that the bitterness of it bled into the beef, so the beef itself was strangely bitter. Sides and entrees were fantastic except for pommes puree. Well made, but it was extremely salty and almost inedible. The scallops were well cooked and the pasta was very good and cooked perfectly tender. Some of the best pappardelle I've had. We sat at the bar and service was great. The bartender was very friendly. Went to The Ends with my family and loved the restaurant from the second we walked in! No sign outside but The Ends symbol was there and when you enter you feel like you're about to enjoy a great meal in an intimate setting. Great place for friends to catch up, family to spend quality time, or to take the loved one! We started with the night with the Crispy Egg Yolk Nigiri which our server told us to eat with the Hamachi Crudo. The crispy rice, furikake and Hamachi paired perfectly together, this should be a required duo to have together. The Brisket Burnt Ends were also delicious and the dipping sauce they came with was incredible. This was my second go around at The Ends and it was delish. First time was for a group of 8 for my fams birthday. Second, was out for the taco Tuesday tomahawk. And let's say, I will be coming again. The service first time was a bit slow, but second trip was grand! Our server took good care of us, but wasn't overbearing like some places. We came out for the taco deal and wow, was it worth every penny. Just look at that picture. I wish it came with guac like their instagram posts but that must be extra, I forgot to ask. The steak was the perfect portion for two. Cooked to perfection, and the sides were tasty. The vibe was a bit loud but that was mostly because the scottsdale bros behind us. I like the restaurant's atmosphere. It's a lil crazy to charge $20 a person for reservations if you don't show or cancel, especially for a group of two.. Overall, the ends is awesome. Love that it's a seed oil spot and use tallow, my faaaaav. I want to come back soon to try the other dishes as they all sound awesome. Have been to The Ends twice now and overall really enjoy it. The martinis and cocktails were excellent, and the steak with the biscuits and fries was hands down my favorite. So good and definitely what I'd order again. The chicken was flavorful but pretty hard to eat, so I'd probably skip that next time. We also tried the hamachi crudo and while it was good, it didn't quite feel worth the price for what you get. One big plus for me is that they're seed oil free and cook with tallow, which I really appreciate and don't see often. Both times we went, our waitresses were super nice, helpful, and attentive without being overbearing, which made the experience even better. The vibe is a refreshing change of pace and a nice break from the loud music, bachelorette packed, overpriced spots that dominate Old Town Scottsdale. I visited The Ends with a friend for a dinner night and I honestly cannot stop thinking about how amazing the pasta was. We tried the mushroom pasta and the bolognese, and both were outstanding. Some of the best pasta I've had in my life has been in Italy, and I can confidently say these homemade pastas at The Ends rival some authentic Italian dishes. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts salad, which was very good and a great starter. Our waitress was extremely kind, helpful, and outgoing, and she checked on us frequently from the moment we sat down until we left, which really elevated the experience. There was a small mix-up with the wine at first (we were brought the wrong one), but it was quickly corrected and I was able to get the original wine I ordered, so it didn't take away from the evening. For dessert, we shared the homemade banana bread split. My friend loved it, though it was a bit too sweet for my personal taste. Next time, I'd love to try their tiramisu. Parking was a bit difficult since the restaurant is located in the middle of Old Town Scottsdale, so plan accordingly. The ambience was overall okay. It did get a bit loud, but for a table of two we could still comfortably have a conversation on a weekend night. I could see it feeling louder with a larger group on a busy weekend night. Top notch -- go! The Ends wasn't on my radar for a recent trip to AZ, but I'm so glad a local friend pointed me there. They're one of the few restaurants truly committed to clean ingredients and cooking with tallow instead of seed oils, which I really appreciate. Reservations: It books up quickly, so plan ahead. Service: Fantastic across the board. Food Highlights: * Hamachi crudo + crispy egg yolk nigiri: Excellent on their own, but unbelievably good layered together. * Bovine tartare: Top-tier flavor and texture; the pickled blueberries are such a smart pairing. Bone marrow on the side was great. * Roasted half chicken: Cooked perfectly. * Wagyu & bison Bolognese: Rich, hearty, and delicious. * Stir-fry snap peas: Bright and fresh. * Charred broccoli: Didn't realize it was fried and wouldn't have ordered it otherwise -- but wow. The beef broth it's served in makes it next-level. * Special veal sliders: Excellent. Dessert: Went with the Croissant Bread & Butter Pudding instead of the split -- zero regrets. A place like The Ends Restaurant is always a bit tough to get into. Good spots, hot spots, are busy and sought after. So when our party of eleven arrived just before 7:00 pm on an October Sunday evening, we were excited to have a reservation for their Shared Journey Menu. But to our surprise we then discovered, as did their host staff, that our reservation was made for the right day of the week - Sunday - but with the wrong date! We were booked in their system for Monday night! Whose fault was it? Likely mostly ours - but they agreed that the day of the week and date did not match and that they should have caught the error. Now - what to do about it. We couldn't come back on Monday night and the restaurant was already very heavily booked on this night. Here's where The Ends showed their focus on their guests - they said "Give us a few minutes and let us see if we can figure something out." We told them that with the error we were fine splitting up into smaller groups and separate tables and that we'd forego the Shared Journey Menu. In about ten minutes the host came back and said "OK! We've got you all set. We've assembled a table for eleven and you'll be served the Shared Journey Menu, just as you reserved." Wow! Above and beyond what we expected. We were very happy with this outcome and we tipped the hostess well for her excellent work. We were seated in a very nice part of the restaurant, back away from many other diners at a long rectangular table with a great view of their iconic Anthony Bourdain painting. Service began immediately from Sharisse and her assistants. Immediately we knew that this was going to be a special night. Sharisse had the command and polish of a service pro and she made you feel right at home. She (and others) moved quickly, yet warmly, around the table as if she was welcoming us to her very own home. After drink orders were placed she described the Shared Journey Menu we would be served. The menu is extensive, creative, and exciting. Drinks took quite a bit longer to arrive than we expected, but given how fortunate we felt to just be seated, we were fine with that. A great night was commencing and we were enjoying ourselves. The cocktails, wine, and beer were all excellent - attractively prepared and served. 1st Course: - Tommy's Biscuits - Fermented Honey, Seasonal Jam, with Grass Fed Butter - Oysters - with their House Cocktail Sauce, Coconut Mignonette, and Key Lime Rating: Five Stars on both 2nd Course: - Hamachi Crudo - in Barrel Aged Tamari with a House Aged Chili Flake and authentic Fresh Wasabi - Crispy Egg Yolk Nigiri topped with a Soy Cured Egg Yolk and Gochujang Aioli and coated in a Crispy Ginger Rating: The Hamachi was a three-star and the Crispy Egg Yolk Nigiri was a strong five-star! One of the favorite dishes of the night based on comments from across the group. 3rd Course: - Handkerchief Bolognese in a Wagyu and Bison meat sauce - Cacio Pepe with Bucatini pasta Rating: The Bolognese was very flavorful, as was the Cacio Pepe, however both dishes were a bit off on temp by the time they made their way around the table. The cooler temp took away from the punch of the flavor and left many of us less impressed - so just three-stars on this course. 4th Course (Proteins & Veggies) - Wagyu NY Strip with Bone Marrow Butter - Dirty Veal in a Vodka Sauce topped with Mortadella Pistachio - Sweet-Tea Marinated Chicken - Miso Glazed Smoked Halibut Veggies were Stir Fry Snap Peas, Charred Broccoli, Peewee Potatoes, and Tallow Fries Rating: The two favorites were the Wagyu steak and the Dirty Veal - both five-star (and personally I'd rate the Veal as the top dish of the entire menu). Veggies were good, but that late in the dinner, not as appreciated as they should have been. The Tallow Fries were the best of the group. So summing it all up - atmosphere, service, bar, food, and overall experience - The Ends easily hits a five-star rating. Came by on a Sunday evening right at the tail end of happy hour. Had reservations, which was good because the place was rather lively with only a few tables left. Very nicely adorned with modern decor and a cool art piece of Anthony Bourdain (whom inspired this restaurant). Our awesome waitress (Anissa) promptly took our order and gave great recommendations. Happy hour portions were perfect for the two of us. We really enjoyed the oysters, biscuits, and cacio pepe. Brussel sprout salad was decent, but I enjoyed the beets & burrata salad more. Our main was the Wagyu NY Strip which was cooked perfectly and was served with bone marrow butter and potato mash. The marrow butter greatly accentuated the steak and the mash had a different taste than expected (in a good way). Overall, great service, great food, and an elevated ambiance made for a great date night. Definitely a recommend place! read more

My Son and I dined at The Ends during our San Francisco Giants spring training trip and loved it. The vibe is modern and fun, lively without feeling crowded. The food was absolutely delicious and the ends were incredible. Our server Abby was professional, warm, and went above and beyond to make sure the kitchen handled all of my food allergies, which meant a lot. Came here for happy hour and enjoyed everything we tried. Staff was great and our bartender Ben was awesome. We loved the food and felt great knowing that everything was seed oil free. Definitely recommend and will be back many times. If you've never been to this area, there is a parking garage with free parking right across the street from the restaurant. read more

Came here for date night on a Saturday and was thoroughly impressed. We made a reservation a few weeks in advance. Upon arrival there was about a 10 minute wait despite our reservation. The hostess and servers were so friendly and welcoming. We did the restaurant week menu and added a few additional items. The biscuits were as amazing as the other reviews stated and are a must! Brisket burnt ends were okay but I wasn't floored by them. The cacio Pepe was handmade and absolutely delicious. The steak was fabulous cooked to perfection and the marrow butter was out of this world. There was a bit of a backup on the steaks that night so we had to wait 30 minutes for it but I will say it was worth it! Overall I say this place is pricey but the service and food match the price point. We have found one of our new favorite celebratory date night spots! read more

My boyfriend picked this restaurant for my birthday and I'll say he did pretty good! We will say that he ordered the wagyu steak and we are not 100% sure it was truly wagyu. I had the braised short rib pasta and the potion size was fairly small for $38 but it was overall a good dish. The beverage I had was about a 6/10, I expected a fancier glass versus a regular low ball for the price. The biscuits were definitely a 10/10!!! The hamachi crudo and crispy egg nigiri were the star of the show - 2 appetizers that they highly recommend you get together which I kinda think they should just make them 1. Had a great dinner at this Anthony Bourdain inspired place. One thing to bl note is that there is no sign of the name anywhere. You just have to know what suite it is in and look for the compass symbol. This is Scottsdale parking, so if you don't want valley, you have to get lucky to find street parking. We were lucky and got a spot just outside the restaurant. There is a great ambiance, dark with lots of plants. There is a great painting of Anthony Bourdain, and a siding room with black walls. There is a full bar with seating. We had a fantastic server. We were given the happy hour menu and ordered our cocktails and "Tommy Biscuits" from it. I had wanted to order the lamb, but they were in the process of changing the menu and there was no lamb--sad. But no worry, I enjoyed dinner none the less. We ordered: *Classic Old Fashioned *Cherry Pistachio Negroni *Tommy's Biscuits with Strawberry Jan *Bolognese (blwagyu and bison) *Caccio e Pepe *Croissant Bread-Butter Pudding Everything was delicious. Hubby, who was adamant about not wanting dessert, ate the majority of the bread pudding. Servings are not huge here, which is good. Was a good dining experience here as service was good and the place was super aesthetically pleasing. The food was not bad as the only complaint I had was that the beef tartare was pretty salty. The restaurant is sleek and modern. I love all the beautiful plants. We had dinner around 5 and found it happy hour was going on from 4-6. We ordered the veal slides which tasted like beef parmigiana sliders. We also got the biscuits appetizer which was so delish the butter was whipped and creamy and the honey jam was perfectly flavored not too sweet. I ordered the Prime Rib Fillet with asparagus and cream mashed celery, the fillet was tender and flavorful. Friends ordered the chefs special short rib brisket raviolis. They loved it but could have had a bigger portion as it only came with 8 raviolis. The Au Gus sauce for the raviolis was perfect. Another friend ordered the bolognese and it was a larger portion than the raviolis. It has lots of meat but not very sauce. We had to try the beef tallow fries. They came with ketchup and a tallow mayonnaise sauce. The fries were good, but had too much salt. read more

Had an awesome dinner at The Ends. Our server Caeline is phenomenal we would go back just to have her as our waitress! She's so personable and very knowledgeable on the menu ! We started with an Aperol Spritz and a Pistachio Espresso Martini both were excellent. For appetizers we had the beef tips, which were tender and packed with flavor. For dinner we ordered the bolognese, the prime filet with chimichurri, and the soy-glazed snap peas. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. The atmosphere was great, service was attentive, and every dish was well thought out.Definitely one of the best dinner spots in Scottsdale we'll be back! read more

This place was really delicious, but very expensive. I really enjoyed the food and it felt like I was in a hip and young restaurant. It was also very loud and I had to yell to talk to my friend. My drink was really good, but unfortunately, I was given it in a broken glass that I didn't notice until I drank from the broken part. You can slightly see the broken part in the picture I added. I took it when the server put the drink down. The staff was really nice about it and took the drink off. I was a little afraid if I had glass on my lip. Next, I got the biscuits that were basically five dollars each since it was $15. They were handmade and definitely worth it. The jam was also really good. My friend got the egg yolk appetizer and I thought it was tasty, except the Sriracha mayo that they used was a little too spicy, and I could not taste the egg yolk, which I think was supposed to be the star of the dish. I was recommended the fried hibachi collar with the sauces. I absolutely loved it when it was fresh but when it cooled down, it got really dry. Unfortunately, they were out of halibut, which is what I wanted, and they were replacing it with snapper which I don't think is a good substitute. I also ordered the mushroom pasta and I have no complaints of that. Lastly, I got my dessert to go. It was a sourdough chocolate cake, which sounded really good. It was good, but the sourdough flavor was definitely too strong. Overall, there was certain things I liked about the food and certain things I didn't like about the food and that's why I gave it three stars. It's in a very popular area so parking was extremely hard. Just because of the prices, I don't think I would go again. read more
