The food was amazing! I had the center cut filet with asparagus. The asparagus btw were gigantic, I have no idea where they find these things lol so cool and delicious. We went for my birthday so I was able to take photos of a lot. The fries were great, filet was cooked to perfection, I really loved the tuna nicoise rice cakes although they took a very, very long time to come out. I brought my 3 year old and she enjoyed the basmati rice. The wagyu surf and turf roll was not what I expected but OK- probably wouldn't get it again. Catch roll was great from what I hear, I don't eat salmon, the seabass was clearly amazing, two of my friends devoured it. The blue cheese olives in my martini though-- now those were ! The chefs really know what they're doing and the drinks were good. Now to the service- the girls at the front were superb (especially Emily!) but our waiter was not very pleasant. He kept rocking back and forth and didn't really help us with the menu, he kept asking if we were ready to order, didn't really engage at all, was a little short with the answers. We wanted more recommendations and he just told us what we could already read. For this caliber of restaurant, I expect a better server. The restaurant itself is stunning. Absolutely great dinner. It's pricey, which isn't a surprise in Scottsdale, but it was worth it. The interior is also lovely, it's a great place for a date night or celebration. We had several dishes including g the Caesar salad (best croutons I've ever had), two rolls (hellfire roll was good and the baked king crab roll was delicious), the waygu gyoza (absolute fire) and the lobster pasta- also delicious. We were celebrating a promotion and they gave us some really good desert cookies for that as well which was kind. Celebrated my moms birthday here on 5/31 and we had a great time. I made the reservation online and booking it was super easy. We arrived about 10 minutes prior to our 4:30pm booking and we were greeted by the friendly door man outside and then the hostess inside. We were then seated a few minutes later. Once seated, our server came over right away, introduced himself, welcomed us in, and dropped off some nice cold water. We looked over the menu and ordered: One Lychee Martini - Smooth and refreshing One Caesar salad - Delicious, fresh, crunchy. The loud music was a bit annoying but not uncharacteristic for Scottsdale, just had more of a party vibe over a classy fancy upscale vibe. Otherwise the staff was attentive and friendly. The Truffle Mushroom Spaghetti was the star of the show, perfect flavor and sauce while maintaining a lightness, not too rich at all. The portion was good too. It reheated well the next day as leftovers. The Salmon Nigiri was delicious and flawless, so buttery! The Oysters were tasty as well, 6 for $28. The Crispy Rice Cakes with Tuna Tartar weren't perfect, the rice was a bit too crispy, and the tuna was spicy (but not that bad). Probably could have walked in without reservation on a Wednesday night, but to be safe, have one. Dark and clubby interior. Feels like place you go when you don't want to be seen with that special someone. Fashion Mall valet right outside the door, although the price has gone up to $30 recently. It's very efficient and well manned though. The menu is an interesting mix of fun starters, nicely done Nigiri sushi, steak, and seafood entrées. We started with a Nigiri sampler, and the house special catch sushi roll. Both were really good and the bluefin tuna Nigiri with a bit of caviar on top was outstanding. For entrées, we sampled the miso Seabass and a lobster pasta. There was nothing left on either of our plates and the portion sizes are not too big to encourage you to try different things on the menu. The wine list is extensive, maybe one of the most extensive list of international wines I've seen in a long time. They are aggressively marked up in price and would be the only thing I could complain about in the whole evening. The wine the Sommelier recommended was outstanding but at $330 a bottle. It really made the whole place seem overly expensive for what you get. Service was very attentive the whole evening without being overbearing. For $10 extra per oyster, yikes, expensive and did nothing. My miso sea bass was quite tasty, a little on the sweet side. Not sure you can count three small pieces of Bok choy as a side. Small portion too, you want to have someone try it and there goes 20% of the meal. The desserts were all great. The chocolate chip cookies for a special birthday were amazing. We've been here twice since it opened. Once with a group of over 70 for a Christmas party with my car club and again for a work dinner recently. Both times the food and service were exceptional. The restaurant is located adjacent to Fashion Square and has valet parking. We've had so many items we loved here: SHISHITO PEPPERS, OMAKASE BOAT, TRUFFLE SASHIMI, WAGYU SURF & TURF ROLL and the CRUNCHY RICE CAKES. Steak and fries both tasted like they had been sitting on the counter for a while. The food was paced well but probably at the cost of leaving the food out. I felt like this place was over hyped The restaurant itself is beautiful and the concept is great! Service was decent. For food the Brussels were good but we got oysters and they weren't shucked properly/ had shells in them. We also got two nigiri flights and I felt that they were mediocre at best. You can get omakase for the same price that's better elsewhere. Also the water bottle on the table had some substance all along the outside. I ordered two rolls, the catch roll and hellfire roll. The fish is so fresh and flavorful. I've tried a lot of sushi in my life and I have to say these were the best rolls I've ever had. After 20 calls and 2 weeks from New Years Eve, we were finally able to get confirmation from Catch that they were hosting a fixed menu on NYE. The interior is beautiful and the dress code was dressed to impress. We were not disappointed. There were so many small selections that I can't recall the dishes in detail. The presentations were beautiful and most of the dishes were good but portion divided by 4 made it hard to breakdown each dish. There was to much activity to focus on the specific dishes. As one would expect on NYE, volume was loud, limited service and a rush to turn the tables. My feeling is that my assessment of Catch needs to be accurate, but I need to return to re evaluate on a normal night. This evening was atypical. read more

My favorite item from catch was the spicy shrimp and the tuna tartare. The shrimps were fried in a very fluffy better and coated in a sweet spicy mayo. I loved the tobiko in the sauce! It added great texture. The tuna tartare was also super yummy and great tasting tuna. I loved the noodle shape for the spicy gigli pasta but I didn't get much spice. That is probably not something I'd order again. The service was overall good. It was a little bit odd but when we first arrived the host wasn't around for a few minutes. Although to be fair we did come in for a late meal. It is a really cute restaurant however they sat 6 of us at one of the small round tables and it was quite a squeeze. This location doesn't have that instagramable flower wall and has a more classy feel. Our server wasn't the warmest person, but the hosts were nice and the other associates who kept our waters and switched out the plates were great. Probably the worse service I had if this restaurant is considered fine dining. Food portions pretty small compared to other fine dining. One crispy tuna piece is $10. The Catch Roll had a cool presentation but not my favorite flavor of sushi. I don't mind paying higher prices if the food is worth it but I don't think it is. At the very least simply inquire if "I may remove the plate. ". We tried the crunchy rice cakes. Very good. Would order again. Signature Nigiri. Quite good. We had several portions of the Albacore. Apparently flown in from Japan daily. Hellfire roll. Another win. For entrees we shared New York strip. Slightly overcooked. Tender and not as flavorful as I would like or expect for this cut. Miso glazed sea bass was delicious. Sides Asparagus and mashed potatoes. I prefer the thin asparagus. These were large stalks. Mashed potatoes were good. Get two for 4 ppl. I've visited Catch LA a few times, and the last experience was so disappointing. Initially, I was hesitant to try Catch in Scottsdale because it was so new, and I wasn't sure if I would encounter the same issues. However, I was completely wrong and regret having any doubts. Catch Scottsdale has already proven to be superior to the LA location. The service was way better and the quality of everything tasted so fresh. Everything was delicious, and you truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Next time, I will probably opt to get two nigiri flights (instead of the coursed meal we did during this visit), as the nigiri was the highlight of this entire meal. The fish was buttery soft and melted in my mouth while the wagyu was so fatty and rich. The mashed potatoes are also a must-try. They achieved the perfect texture/taste -- creamy and smooth. I polished off the whole side myself. The strawberry shortcake dessert is so refreshing and the perfect dessert after such an indulgent meal. I couldn't stop eating it. Connell, the manager, is an absolutely gem. She was attentive and sweet. She checked on us multiple times throughout our meal to make sure everything was going smoothly. We were so excited when Catch opened in Scottsdale! I've been to other locations and it's always a good vibe with good food. I got the makrut cooler (gin cocktail) and would order that again! The table next door all got an espresso martini that I would love to try next time! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share and loved the Truffle Sashimi, bluefin otoro nigiri (absolutely divine), catch roll and hellfire roll, crispy cauliflower, baked king crab hand roll, center cut filet, waygu fried rice, and Whole herb roasted branzino with truffle fries on the side! I don't think you can go wrong with any of the dishes here. Since we came here to celebrate a birthday, they presented their signature Hit Me chocolate cake. What was funny was it said happy anniversary instead of happy birthday but that's no problem since we ate everything! Staff were attentive and our waitress checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. This place is perfect for a date night or night out. I noticed they have a bar in the back of the restaurant. Fair warning that as the night progresses, the lights go dimmer and the place gets louder you can barely hear the person next to you in the main dining room. My husband and I love tasting menus and omakase restaurants. It takes a lot of the guess work out or ordering. We ordered the omakase boat. It's pretty large, but it was all very delicious. Nothing was left and no one was hungry. This is a good way to get a variety of rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. The sushi bar is open so I thanked the staff for the beautiful presentation and flavors. The kids got filets with sides of mashed potatoes and Parmesan truffle fries. We still talk about the fries. They were so good. They were crispy, yet soft, and very flavorful. The potstickers were incredible and I don't even like beef! The miso sea bass was delicious! It started off salty and had a sweet finish. My boyfriend loved the steak mostly due to the chili butter it was so good I told him he should ask for a box just for the butter lol Ambiance: cute vibe, didn't feel pretentious at all just kind people Food for thought: overpriced for sure. Chili butter for $8 and the sushi roll was $25 and in my humble opinion it was just a glorified spicy tuna roll that tasted the same as my favorite sushi spot that I get the same roll at for $11 on HH. However I will say that the items we loved we would comeback and pay for just because of the service. Also we had a 9pm reservation and didn't even get sat until 9:30pm. Restaurant is beautiful, I was so excited to try this place but after a humiliating experience I'll probably never return. Went for a birthday dinner. With my party all similarly dressed. I was pulled aside and told I was not appropriately dressed, the only difference I could see in our aesthetic was complexion. The concession was if I closed my coat I could stay. I chose to keep my dignity and left. I have been to the neighboring fine dining restaurants, in the same development as well as fine dining restaurants both domestically and internationally and have never had an issue with appearance or appropriateness of dress. It did feel especially validating when I left as I was standing outside of Catch waiting for my uber having two separate parties of women one older than me and younger randomly walked over and complimented my outfit and look. read more
