Yea! We did it! Thanks to Jose and his assistant I was able to pass emissions today! Visited on 4.26.16 after reading reviews - thanks fellow Yelpers - and independent referral by a mobile mechanic. Jose was as polite and professional as previous reviews mentioned. I truly appreciated his thoughtfulness and genuine demeanor also. Clearly my vehicle needed a catalytic converter (CC) - which had been previously replaced twice by a Muffler King affiliate that went out of business; wonder why??? :-( I digress, so Jose hoists up my vehicle and points at the red interior since my CC was literally split. Jose said he hadn't seen anything like that in his 25 years working...not a good sign by the way. He did point out that the red area was likely due to a misfire in the engine and should be remedied first or it could burn out a new CC. So off I went to have a couple coil packs replaced...not the easiest thing to find since auto stores can only stock one or none at all, and of course I needed 2. Being sarcastic, but had to go to 3 different stores to locate the 2 coil packs :-( Replaced over weekend and called Jose the morning of May 3rd. I was in his shop by 2:30ish that same afternoon. He checked the engine power and showed me that the red area in CC was gone. While getting service I was able to visit Tower Beverages next door and was perusing through the GW boutique when Jose called to tell me my vehicle was ready. Seemed much quicker than the 1.5 hours quoted. Great service overall, did not feel cheated or taken advantage of as a woman and highly recommend. very good shop. the owner will show you everything and tell you everything. Goodyear asked me the same repair for $480+. I then find this place through google and read the reviews. They got 29/30. I went there. The owner lifted my car and explained me the exhaust system and showed me the problem. They asked for $240 for after market new muffler and pipes, including labor. Later, they found a stainless used factory muffler in stock and gave me that one. The gave me another $40 discount. It turned out $200 in final. Absolutely thrilled with my experience at Buckhead Muffler! Jose, the proprietor, and his great crew provided very prompt and thorough service of my vehicle. The good: it is a nicer area, and they were fast. The people were nice. The bad: Little on the expensive side. You can find a better deal. Also, they routed my muffler very close to my brake line, and used a wire tie to hold it out of the way. Not the most professional. Also, would be hesitant to use these guys for anything other than muffler service. After talking to the guys didn't get the feeling they were the most knowledgable on repairs. read more

I'm very happy that I was referred to this shop. I have an old truck & the parts are hard to find... I knew it needed a new muffler but decided I'd have it looked at by a specialist rather than just slap on a new one myself. This turned out to be a very good idea. They inspected my exhaust for free (love shops that do that). The parts priced were competitive with what I'd have paid myself in an auto shop and the cost of labor was fair & worth every penny. They had the equipment there to custom shape my tail pipe (so if you have a classic this shop is ideal), they reused good claps, welded where needed & didn't try to sell me stuff I did't need. The new muffler & tail pipe sit snug - no more rattling metal! Great shop. I definitely recommend them. read more

I drove my vehicle over and Jose rode with me back to work & took my car to the shop to install the catalytic converter. He called me when the work was completed and I picked it up while on my lunch break. He showed me the old piece and the new one he installed and told me what I can expect. I wish they were full service because Jose is the only person I would trust 100% to do work on my car other than my Dad! I have a bit of experience with cars, enough to know more than your average bear. I woke up to a very large exhaust leak this morning and realized that my O2 sensor had completely fallen out of the exhaust pipe - something that would require welding back in to place. I found this place on Yelp and saw that it had good reviews - naturally I was a bit skeptical of all of them because you can't trust everything on the internet. However I gave Jose a call anyway and within 30 seconds I could tell he knew his stuff. I was confident he knew what he was talking about. He's extremely personable and patient on the phone and calls back when he says he's going to call back. 5 stars just for that. Jose and his crew were able to squeeze me in for an emergency repair and did a bang up job. They were even able to show me where another crack had formed in my exhaust and offered to patch that up as well so I could put all this behind me. Jose was absolutely fantastic. I spoke with him via Yelp and he quoted me a price lower than others in the area. He told me to call the next morning. I called the morning and he said he would get me in when he had a cancellation. He actually called back an hour and half later and told me to come in. When I got to him ~40 minutes later he was waiting for me. He was knowledgeable and retested my codes to make sure I was getting the correct service. He talked about my Lexus with experience. Ive been hearing a ratting sound from my car and guessed it to be catalytic converter. Took my car to Buckhead Muffler and met Jose. He put my car up on the rack identified the problem came up with a reasonable solution and I taking my SLK32 to him tomorrow if i can get a ride. Note here: I'm VERY particular who works on my SLK. Its an AMG and not everyone knows how to work on these. Some research has gone into picking Buckhead Muffler. I went to get an estimate on an exhaust system for a 977 Pontiac Lemans. Jose took the time to explain what was required and gave me a good, fair estimate. However, I did not use them as I decided to wait on this job. So why the 5-star review? I knew without question that Jose understood what he was doing. Jose wanted to make sure I understood what was required and covered the details thoroughly. He was patient and professional. What he didn't know about my experience is that I am not a novice when it comes to cars as I have built many of them from the ground up over the years. I found out about this shop through the great reviews on Yelp. The reviewers were right, this is a great place to get exhaust work done. I picked up an MBRP catback exhaust and after cat h-pipe for my Mustang. I setup a time to drop off the car over the phone and dropped off the car on the agreed upon day/time. Jose got the car up on the lift, laid out all the parts, and looked over the existing parts to make sure everything would work. He made sure we talked about where I wanted the exhaust tips to end up and asked if I was ok with them making modifications if necessary to get what I wanted. I got a call a couple hours later and picked up the car. They ended up having to tweak the left side muffler to get it just right. The install was done exactly as I wanted and it sounds great. They saved my stock parts as requested and had them in my car when I got there. Jose is an A+ guy who treats the customer great and a true expert at his job. Shop is within walking distance to the Lindbergh Marta station if you want to drop it off and take Marta to work. read more

Just had the guys at Buckhead Mufflers install headers on my '05 Nissan Armada 4x4. The factory manifolds were cracked and the ticking sound was driving me CRAZY! Knowing this was not a small task, I shopped around at a few other shops before deciding on BM. Most places declined to take the project on, and the ones that did seemingly threw out ridiculously high price quotes without ever looking at the truck or talking through what the install would entail (Nissan dealer included). The first time I stopped by BM, Jose put my car up on the lift and showed me where the OEM manifolds were leaking. He talked through what my options were to repair the leak and was open to my procuring the parts if it was a better financial option (you don't hear that from many mechanics these days). Note that I hadn't yet decided to have them do the work, he just wanted to make sure he understood my issue and that I understood my options - all for no charge! Given the positive initial experience, I opted to have them do the install. It took a couple days to complete the job, and Jose kept me well informed of their progress along the way. They did a stellar job on the install and even addressed some other small items in the exhaust system that needed attention (and will save me headaches later on). He even recommended a couple of local recycling companies that would buy my used converters - nice! All in all, the customer service alone is worth choosing this place. Jose is an honest guy who will give you a professional opinion, whether good news or bad. More than pleasantly surprised, from start to finish. The shop is small but clean, and even smells good. I had a factory weld come loose behind my resonator / middle muffler that had me partially dragging it into his shop. I received excellent attention and such fast service I barely had time to write a review before the repair was done. Every step of the way he showed me what he was doing (e.g., here's the old part installed, here are all of the options (from $50 to $2000), here's the new part installed) and I appreciated that. I was spoken to like a person, and not like a car guy or a dummy. They explained everything they did in detail and the prices were more than reasonable. What a surprising gem! I'd be comfortable sending my wife there -- it's that kind of place. (For being a small shop they even had a TV and comfortable sitting room for half a dozen folks.) read more

Wow - anyone wondering how to provide excellent customer service need only spend a few hours observing Jose interact with his clients. Last Friday afternoon, my friends, who were en route to Florida from Canada, were experiencing some car trouble. Based on the reviews on Yelp, I chose this neighborhood garage and called ahead to see if they would be able to take a look at the car before the shop closed for the weekend. Not only did Jose spend time with me on the phone trying to pin point the problem, he gave us clear directions to the shop, had the car hoisted up, diagnosed and repaired within an hour of our arrival. He did not overcharge us, or suggest that our "emergency" pit stop warranted an extra fee of any kind. In fact, while there were other little things he pointed out might need servicing in the near future, he didn't give us the hard sell, he simply told my friends to be on the look out for them.
