After reading all the negative comments on here, I feel I need to share my experience with this business. I had the pleasure of meeting with the owner, Jeff Cohen, this week and I have to say, I never felt pressured from him the entire time I was in his store and he was a delight to talk to. I told him that I was looking for a good vacuum and had been researching online and wanted his honest opinion of what would be the best bang for the buck. I just can't justify spending $600 or more for something to clean my house with...........if that were the case, then I would just hire a maid! He guided me over to a lovely green Panasonic vacuum cleaner that has to be the quietest vacuum that I have ever heard!! It works on both carpet and hardwoods, is automatic adjusting, is light as a feather and has all the bells and whistles of the Dyson that you hear so much about for half the price! I came home and researched this vacuum and went back and bought it. Jeff was extremely knowledgeable about all the features of the vacuum and I could not have asked for better customer service. Jeff, you have a customer for as long as you are in business and I thank you for suggesting this vacuum cleaner to me. This is a great place with superior customer service. I had a broken part from a Hoover carpet shampooer that is still under warranty. My local Sears had given me the run-around, wanted me to bring in the whole machine, and then told me they could not service it. Distinctive Appliances greeted me warmly and took care of the part with no hassles. They walked with me to the car to look up the model number, I signed the form, and they handed me the new part. Easy!!! And they have a TERRIFIC assortment of Miele vacuums, which I plan to purchase soon. They offer "trade-in" for your old vacuum, and they well refurbished units as well. AVOID - RIPOFF REPAIR SERVICE. I have purchased 2 vacuum cleaners here - they do a good job selling but terrible on repair. They overcharge and try to pressure you into "trading in" to a new one. This has happened to me three times. The owner/main sales person must have been a used car salesman in a previous life. This time they have lost me as a customer for good. They go totally against the rule of buying local - in their case, it does nothing for you - go ahead and buy that vacuum online and send it off for repair - you will save $$. read more

I just called Jeff at Buckhead-Midtown Vacuum as my Simplicity vacuum stopped working the other day as a result of me accidentally vacuuming the fringe from one of our oriental rugs. I was convinced I was going to have to bring my vacuum in and pay for a repair service so I was calling to make arrangements for the repair. To my surprise, Jeff was able to walk me through how to reset my vacuum over the phone and viola! Problem solved! He identified the issue immediately and it took him less than 5 minutes to walk me through how to reset the vacuum and fix the problem. Thank you JEFF for saving me time and money!!! read more

I became a fan on my first visit. Jeff Cohen was locking up for the day, saw me pull into the parking lot and reopened the store. That defines the service and respect with which customers are treated. No pushy sales tactics. My Miele vacuum lasted for 15 years which makes the appliance an excellent value. I had never been to a vacuum repair place before I went to Midtown Vacuum. My Dyson suddenly seemed to be working but there was no suction, which when it comes to vacuums thats what you want. I couldn't figure out what the issue was for the life of me even taking it apart a bit before I decided to let the professionals look at it and I took it to Midtown Vacuum. I dropped it off around 2 pm on a thursday and they called me back by 4 that day! Which I found absolutely wonderful since I was hoping to have my vacuum back sooner rather than later. They told me the issue was a single clear water bottle top that had perfectly plugged the vacuum reason it seemed to be working but wasn't. They were able to fix it, quickly and cheaply which is exactly what I needed. The friendly customer service was an additional plus! I had it before the end of the day, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. read more

I brought in my Miele Alize vacuum for repair work(cord not retracting) in the late morning, and the shop was able to repair it the same day! Of note, this is my second Miele vacuum cleaner. I bought my first one from this store over 20 years ago, and it finally wore out. Amazing vacuum cleaner, great store and very friendly owner. I have an expensive Electrolux vacuum cleaner that my mother-in-law talked my husband into purchasing as a present for me, and I never use it. It is a big LUG. LOVE my Miele, and highly recommend Buckhead-Midtown Vacuum for retail and repair services!!! read more

This store has been there as long as I have lived in Atlanta and that says a lot! They really know their products! Now I know why so many people have a Miele vacuum. My Miele is easy to use, light weight and worth the price. I will continue to support this business because their products are the best! read more

It's an ok place, they couldn't fix my vaccuum because it didn't worth and tried to sell my a vaccuum almost twice the online price.

Onto my second Miele in over 13 years and as always the service and recommendations were stellar. I had been comparing other brands online but the quality and features of the Miele won out. Although I rarely have a need to visit the retail location because the Miele is such an excellent machine and never really needs repair, I was welcomed and treated as though I was a frequent visitor. It's really refreshing to do business with people who are local and truly invested in their customers as opposed to just being a number in a big box store - they forget you the minute you walk out. Outstanding customer service and great products! When my Kenmore quit on me, I called this store to inquire as to whether or not they had a certain Miele vacuum in stock. Jeff was very helpful and after ensuring me they had the model I wanted, he offered to wait on me and keep the store open a little past its normal business hours so I could pick it up. Once I arrived, he put the vacuum together for me, demonstrated its features, registered it with the manufacturer and answered all of my questions. It was the most pleasant vacuum buying experience and I was very impressed with Jeff's level of expertise and customer service. I don't think I'll buy a vacuum anywhere else again! This place is NOT in business to repair your vacuum, but rather to sell you a new one or a refurbished one. I was pressured from start to finish to replace or trade-in my perfectly good vacuum. All I wanted was a belt replaced -- simple enough, but after paying $20 for diagnostics, I was given no information except that it would cost $107 to "fix" my vacuum. When I asked why so much I was informed that the vacuum needed a new filter, cleaning, and new belts, even though at least one of the belts was brand new and I had been told by the technician that the belts weren't the problem. Also, my vacuum is rarely used and is a very high quality vacuum. I don't believe the filter needed replacing, etc. A customer who came in while I was in the store, picked up her vacuum (another make/model from mine) and expressed shock at the fact that her bill was $107 (does that number sound familiar?) The technician explained that the "filter needed replacing." So, bottom line: this place isn't going to monkey around with doing a simple repair -- they want to do more of an overhaul so they can charge a bunch of money OR, better yet, sell you a new vacuum. Buckhead Midtown Vacuum is a VERY DISHONEST business. I will NEVER use them again!! Last year I brought my Kirby vacuum cleaner in for service. They said they would diagnose it and call me back. I was told I needed a new fan and I told them to replace it. The next year around the SAME exact time the fan broke AGAIN. Took it in and they said I need to replace the fan again. Now I'm suspicious because I know a brand-new fan should not be breaking within a year's time. It was the first time ever I had the fan replaced and I had owned my Kirby for years and years. Purchased it new and never had any problems with it. So I asked Jeff did he install a new fan the first time and he said yes. LIAR, LIAR, LIAR!!! It could not have been new breaking within a year's time. I hardly ever use my vacuum cleaner because I don't have to do a lot of vacuuming and I'm very careful of what I'm vacuuming on the rare occasions that I do use it. When my fan broke the second time, I was vacuuming up a dead spider, as if that would break the fan! This last time when I picked up my vacuum cleaner, I asked Jeff to show me the replacement part and he did. The next day I took off the hose to inspect the so-called "new" fan that Jeff installed only to find a VERY OLD USED FAN that was even DIRTY on visual inspection. When I ran my fingers across the plastic blades, I could feel ROUGH EDGES and INDENTATIONS on all edges of the blade!!! Clearly this "NEW" FAN had been WELL USED!!! I paid over $120 for each repair. These people are nothing but RIP-OFF artists and I would not give them my business if I were you. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!! I HATE THESE DISGUSTING THIEVES!!!! can you give negative stars thought I should share so others will not fall for the same trap took my dyson which was losing power every once in a while but otherwise running fine thought the plug needed to be replaced took it to this store since they are supposed to be the best I told them the problem, and wanted to show them what it was doing they said that i had to leave it with them and pay a $25 diagnostic fee days later get a call with an estimate that it would cost $125 to fix I said don't bother I'll come pick it up they said the $25 was not refundable....whatever this was in February....my parents have been sick and I have been traveling and unable to get there....I have two messages from them telling me to come pick up the dyson I went today and they said that they disposed of it and offered to give me a $25 credit towards a purchase This was a $400 machine that needed its power cord replaced do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for repairs read more

Researched Miele vacuums on the web comparing prices. Could not decide between a couple of models so I looked for a store and found North Buckhead Vacuum and from their website photograph I saw that they had a bunch of models to compare. Went in and got an excellent description of the lower end models I was interested in purchasing. I got to see and hear the difference between the two models I finally got down to. Then when I decided to go ahead and purchase them - happy surprise - the owner, Steve, said they upgrade the filter to the $50 HEPA filter for free! Then he gave me a box of replacement bags for free. Then he opened the box and put the vacuum together for me and showed me how it worked. He carefully explained that I should be careful to use only the bare floor setting - showing the difference with the brush for the rugs. He took the serial number of the vacuum and placed it into his computer system and said that if there was ever a problem he had the number so I would not have to look it up. I'm going to go and check out their other appliance store too. read more

I have used Buckhead-Midtown Vacuum on several occasions and would not recommend them. Every time I have taken a vacuum cleaner in, they have tried to sell me a new one. I had a Sears Kenmore cannister that lasted 20 years and they convinced me that their Panosonic was better- it died after 3 years. I went back to Sears and got a new Kenmore (great vacuum!); the wheels on the power broom were frozen so I took in into Buckhead-Midtown because it was more convenient. They wanted over $300 to fix it and I laughed when I got the list of things they said they needed to replace- it was ridiculous. They charged me $20 just to look at it. I took it over to Sears- they gave me an estimate of $90 so I left it to be fixed. When I picked it up, they said no charge, since I purchased it in 2010, they felt it should be covered by the warranty! I will never use the scam artists at Buckhead-Midtown vacuum again and Sears has retained a valued customer! read more
