Exceeded expectations It was much cleaner and nicely kept than I was expecting. The village itself is very nice. They have a very quaint and classy equestrian theme. I wanted to sit outside and im glad I made reservations. Their courtyard is stocked with pretty annuals and properly watered plants. Healthy potato vine and rosemary plants accent the stone border. Antiqued lanterns and lights are strung up and they have two large gas heaters for when it gets cold out. We had a eight seat table to ourselves. It was like being over a friends backyard bbq but with better food. The bread was nicely warmed and the soup smelled fresh. My entree could have easily fed two. I would go back again. I really like the area. My only wish was that they would have checked in more often. read more

If you're a fan of cremation, this place is for you. They shouldn't bother to serve food here. They'd be far better off if they offered reasonably priced cremation. Order any of their famous burgers. The convenience is that although they'll ask you how you like it cooked, you'll get it absolutely fired to a crisp, black outside, black inside. The good news is that, like a broken clock is accurate twice a day, if you ask for well done...and I mean VERY well done, you'll get your burger exactly the way you ordered it. You'd think they'd make up for it with their signature waffle fries, but even they are horribly overcooked. They're crispy on the outside and, voila! Crispy on the inside as well. I ate here often, 2 decades ago, and it was pretty good, but these days, run, don't walk, as fast as you can from this pretentious crap hole. Buckram's is true staple in Locust Valley. I have never had a bad meal here and am always raving about what I just consumed and wanting more than I can eat. Portions are generous. This establishment is just as great of a bunch spot as it is for a celebratory dinner. Stand out meals include the Warm Country Salad (one of my all time favorite meals/salad and my go-to when I am in town), Strip Steak (the vegetable side is the only time I actually eat all of my veggies), and Buckram Stabilizer (special mention: the waffle fries). They have indoor and outdoor seating during the warmer weather. The kid and equestrian in me always makes sure to request a booth, which are situated in what imitate horse stalls (as you those would see in a stable, duh). Based right in the center of town you need only walk a few feet from the LIRR station for a satisfying meal and then it's off to stroll by the shoppes that surround this special section of Forest Avenue. It's not only nostalgia that brings me back time after time; it's the wonderful dining experience. **Notable fact: the decorations change with the season and they always rotate a cute themed display above the booth section. read more

Service is friendly, but not overly attentive. Annoying full price on a $4 soda refill. Food was okay -- famous burger is a lot of food and a fatty, fun delight. Thin, small piece of fried fish with a few waffle fries was overpriced at best. Tiny piece of pie for a high price. The chef was on fire tonight! First we enjoyed a delicious crab cake on a bed of lettuce with a vinaigrette appetizer, it was delicious, best I ever had. We both enjoyed a meal from the specials menu. Coconut crusted halibut with a couscous mixed with pineapple and mango and other fresh ingredients, this was so fresh and delightful. My wife enjoyed a mango salad with coconut crusted shrimp, this had blueberry goat cheese, candied nuts withjust an amazing mix of flavors. Ended with a light & tasty toasted almond cake with specialty coffees with enough alcohol to make me almost walk home. Always a great meal. Bow to the chef. We'll be back soon. read more

as we were walking in the owner was preparing to leave. a waitress went behind the bar, she ignored us most of the night and we were the only customers at the bar for a while. service was horrendous! I've eaten here 30 times over the years and loved it! I loved it so much we took the trip from Roslyn just to eat there last night! each time (3) we wanted another drink it was a process to get the woman's attention. at one point a bunch of college age kids came into the bar area and a different waitress that seemed to know them came behind the bar. she was actually worse then ours! didn't pay any attention to us and we were the only ones sitting at the bar other then the kids! I ordered a simple bowl of chili, it comes with chips. After finally getting the waitress attention and asking for more chips she brings out bottom of the bag broken tiny pieces of chips, I said to her "these are all broken" she responds "yes it's the bottom of the bag"! Odd, rude response, but ok. Then I ordered the steak tidbits. the steak wasn't done as I requested it to be cooked, waitress never came back to check how anything was. I asked for the bill and she tried to over bill us for 4 drinks! we only had 3! All around disgusting experience, but when the owner isn't around I guess thats what happens. Neither waitress could care less about us, our experience or the food we ordered. read more

We were passing through the area and thought this place looked interesting so stopped in. We were seated somewhat promptly although the restaurant was quite crowded. We ordered the Stabilizer burger and the adult grilled cheese. Food came quickly and the portions were pretty large. The stabilizer burger was extremely good, perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The adult grilled cheese was equally as good, simple but full of flavor. Only thing I'd say is that the restaurant seemed a but overcrowded with covid in mind, otherwise the food was great and I'd highly recommended it! read more

Went to Buckram the other night and was somewhat disappointed. 12 buck spritzers during happy hour and it had to be a 3-4 ounce mixed drink. (Mostly club soda). Overall food dishes were so so... just not impressed with this place and won't return. read more

Just had lunch here. While the food was good , the waitress decided to pay us no mine. She was sitting down with the bus boy in the back of the restaurants, did not check up on us once. We had to flag the bus boys boy down to get a refill on our soda as well as for the bill. When the bill came it was over $60 for a quesadilla, wings and a salad. Not too mention the additional $11 for 3 sodas. Keep in mind there were two of us so they charged for the refill. $3.75 for a fountain soda. Come on. Give me a break. End result decent food , terrible service and ridiculous prices. Wouldn't ever go back !!!! read more

The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the food is reliable, in a glorified pub grub kind of way. Staff is typically friendly and accommodating. My kids love the place! One maddening habit is their devotion to finding anyway to add an upcharge to your bill. In our experience this has included nearly doubling the price of a cobb salad when my wife asked to substitute the turkey for chicken, asking if they had a children's burger for our 5 -year-old, and ending up with just the regular adult burger to the tune of $15, and being charged .75 cents for requesting dressing on the side (not requesting an extra side of dressing, just dressing on the side-lol). It seems like poor business to nickel and dime customers in an already kind of pricey place. They have a pretty loyal local following though, so I guess they're not concerned. read more

we were here on sunday for their brunch special, which was priced at $14 however if you wanted to have mimosa, beer or bloody marys along with irish soda bread the price was $18, which to me is bit over priced, but hey you are in locust valley so I can understand boost in price. I went for the eggs Florentine, and Jack (my husband) had the three eggs, with home fries and sausage. I have to say the eggs florentine, were some of the best I ever had, and since we saw they were offering banana pancakes we also order a side of those, man were they great. I wanted to bring jack to Buckram Cafe, because I feel like there is a sense country, and the welcoming staff makes you feel at home. I love the cafe, also for their theme. read more

Peculiar space. I mean this in a good way. Good food though it takes long time to get it. Friendly service and nice people. Mostly locals and regulars it seems. I love the atmosphere. One thing I don't like is that people (customers and owners) know each other so well they alienate normal customers. Customers talk over the tables and yell at each other. It creates friendly atmosphere but not very professional. It is still a public space and I am not interested in listening to other people's conversation but it seems I have no choice. read more

I love where I grew up. I love Buckram Stables. I've been going here since I was a teensy tiny kid with new tastebuds. The burgers here are off the hook. They're always cooked perfectly - and they're BIG. My pops is a regular for the cheese and mushroom and onion topping, but I'm a straight up buckram burger kinda gal. They have some delicious soups, and fries...they're waffle fries. Waffle fries. Its small and quaint, and sometimes you're going to have to wait, but this place is a staple in my small little town. Don't try parking on Forest ave, just cause its a little tight and if you make the Locust Valley Lock Jaw peeps rockin out in their Astons, they ain't gona be happy. Park in the back. Or park down the block and walk over - if its nice out. Stop at the stores, look at stuff you probably can't afford, and get a burger. I'd give it 4 1/2 if I could. It is THE best bar/restaurant on LI. I moved to FLA, via W. NY state, and when I visit LI, Buck's will be my first stop. I started going there in 1990, an 26 years later, the staff is largely intact. The service is great, and the bartenders/wait staff are well-educated, smart, and very friendly. Once I was stuck for hours on a bug in a spreadsheet; bartender, now manager Glenna found the problem in 15 seconds. In addition to the service, the food is top notch. Given that it's in "low-cost" Valley, it is not cheap; the fancier meals are a bit pricey, but you can' go wrong with a "Stabilizer" (hamburger or turkeyburger), which is reasonably priced. The drinks are also reasonably priced. Unlike most other LI pubs, there is very little back-stabbing, and the customer base is good. They serve breakfast 6 days/week, and have a great Sunday brunch. It is also the cleanest bar or restaurant I've ever seen. It is not a sports bar, but it has a large Mets' following and large Yankees' following. There is just one TV, and if they add a 2nd, I'd make it 5 stars. read more
