Very nice local spots, we've had meatballs, pizza sausage with broccoli , hot honey w ricotta, and plain pies from here. Specialty pizza all taste excellent. Hot honey can fill you up very quickly thanks to heavy dollop of ricotta cheese, at top 2 slices for a healthy male adult but the plain red pie was overly sour with little cheese. I'd heard Bucky's Detroit style pizza was amazing, but since I was just stopping in for a quick lunch and they don't offer Detroit slices by the slice, I grabbed a vodka slice and a white slice instead. The vodka sauce was the best I've had in years. So many places serve what amounts to a creamy tomato sauce and call it vodka sauce, but this was the real deal- rich, balanced, and packed with flavor. The white slice was equally impressive: creamy, garlicky, and loaded with ricotta. The crust on both slices reminded me of fresh pane bread, with a wonderful crust and just the right amount of chew. I also grabbed a cookie that was soft in the center, crisp around the edges, and filled with chocolate chunks. It was excellent, but the pizza is the real star here. We have been coming to this location since they opened. We first gave them a try when they had their pizza truck. This place never disappoints . The owners and staff are awesome very welcoming. Always great to have a good team behind you . A lot of customers order take out but they have a decent amount of seating in the back if you want to try to dine in . They have a very simple menu which makes it much easier to decide . Decisions Detroit style or NY style pizza. also they have some must try salads and meatballs. I know they have been crazy busy since they were reviewed and they deserve that point scale every day of the week . So I hope those that haven't gotten to try it will be able to try it soon . This is THE BEST pizza I have ever had! We tried several of their NY and Detroit styles... and my favorite was the Detroit pepperoni pizza... but the rest were close runners up. The vibe in the place is so laid back like a typical pizzeria, but the pizzas coming out of those ovens are incredibly delicious. Top quality ingredients, seasoned and cooked perfectly with pristine presentation are the reason this place stands out from all the rest. The dining experience doesn't match the setting... but somehow it still works! Even the appetizers and desserts were akin to what one would expect to be served at a fancy upscale restaurant. Don't let the strip mall location fool you - Bucky's is serving up some delicious pizza! Plus they have plenty of parking so that's an added bonus. Bucky's closes at 8pm (why so early!?!), but when we arrived at 7:40 on Friday night, we were still able to snag a table. There were also at least 5 people waiting to pickup to go orders. My second time trying Detroit pizza (neither time in Detroit). While I do not like this style as much as other styles of pizza (too much bread), I did still enjoy the pizza overall. The best thing was the crust, so its good that they cut each of the 6 slices to have at least some crust. Quite cheesey. Also there were a generous amount of toppings... for instance my pepp pizza was loaded with pepperoni. Pizza is a little expensive for the size versus other pizza spots, but not unreasonably so. This place has kinda gone viral so we decided to give this place a try on a Saturday night. We got there and was told it was about a hour wait, it turned out being less which was good, we were seated in the back room which is a little tight and loud. The decor is pretty standard pizza place, The waitress came over and took our order. They were out of garlic knots and their fresh cookies so that was a bit of a bummer, Their drink selection is pretty limited but they did have Italian soda which was nice, We got the square sour dough pizza which was really good. Bucky's Pizza is pretty gosh darn good. My five year old declared the plain pie to be the "best pizza he's ever had" and trust me, the kid knows his plain pies. The specialty pizzas are thick and doughy, which is different from what you normally find in NJ. The flavors are delicious. I recommend going in a group so you can share a few different flavors. These guys started out slow. $5.50 for a very small slice. And no offense it was not a good slice. Yet, they have since become an anchor in the CVS Plaza. Good solid pizza. Love the sour dough base. Background: and I'm hoping the owners of Bucky's reads this - I have a Brick Oven in my backyard not less than 1/2 mile from Bucky's. I'll say it, my homemade dough and sauce are great. But I can't do this on regular "Commercial" basis So, while I love Dave Portnoy and his Schtickla, which is great fun, Bucky's is a 9.2. In my book. Detroit style pizza is definitely more difficult to find in NJ, but really good detroit style pizza, that I thought was impossible. Then I came to Bucky's and will tell you, this place is worth it. Came in at lunch time on a sunday shortly after it opened, and was able to seat ourselves as a group of 4 immediately. We were able to place an order pretty quickly after being seated. The guy taking our order was very nice and efficient. Ordered 1 order of garlic knots, 1 detroit style cacio e pepe and 1 detroit style plain pizza. Garlic Knots: This is how prefer my garlic knots and to each their own. Crispy on the outside and doughy in the middle, with plenty of cheese and garlic flavor, a great start to our delicious meal. Plain Detroit Style: Beautifully crispy on the outside with caramelized cheese flavor. I love that there is NO MIDDLE slice, because you don't miss out on the crispiness of the crust, and the rest of the pizza was nice and chewy, as detroit pizza should be. the tomato sauce does not overpower anything and it was absolutely delicious. Cacio E Pepe: This is a must have. The dough, crust was exactly as it was above, but I actually preferred this tomatoless pie. Very solid pizza place. Saw how good the reviews (and photos) and had to give this place a try. They're too slammed to take phone orders but can order and pay online through toast. Friday night wait was about an hour for a large half cheese half pepperoni pie. Think they have a back seating area with the front for take out or solo seats which was very modern looking. They were pumping out pizza like mad inside and felt like it was Santa's pizza workshop (most employees were people in teens/20's) Pizza and dough particularly is really great, like how it was crispy but still soft for the crust. It seemed a bit more sauce than cheese and they sprinkle a lot of parm on top which I'm personally not a huge fan of. Also a little unique in that they apply the pepperoni on top after it's cooked which I've never seen before. They don't stay on as well in my observation. I've never had Detroit style pizza before, just knew that it was on the thicker side. The pizzas are slightly smaller than I expected, but they are enough. We ordered the plain Detroit pie, which is cut into six pieces. The sauce is amazing, I could eat it on anything, and I wish the cheesy crispy crust was on more pizzas. We also got the garlic knots, which I usually never eat. I was pleasantly surprised that it had the same crust on the bottom. The sauce, again is amazing and it tasted super fresh--there were fresh pieces of basil in it. The cannoli wasn't too sweet and the cream was light and fluffy. I kept hearing rave reviews on social media about Bucky's sourdough pizza and finally decided to take the leap. Placing an order through the website is relatively seamless. Real-time availability is reflected, and I can't tell you how crushed I was when I waited too long to place my order and discovered they were sold out of the pies I wanted. In fact, my sister shared that this is a common complaint about Bucky's - there's a high demand and a limited supply, so get your orders in as soon as you plan on having pizza on the menu. If it helps, orders can be scheduled well ahead of time. We decided to try a cheese round pie and the hot honey pepperoni grandma pie. Both were smaller than I expected, so much that a slice of the hot honey was just a little larger than my palm. That said, they're delicious. The hot honey with pepperoni was the clear favorite of the family, with the spiced pepperoni doing a flavor waltz in my mouth against the sweet ricotta and hot honey. The deeper crust of the grandma pie remained relatively crisp, with leftovers being enjoyed by a latecomer hours after we'd eaten. I'll leave this an added note for those watching their blood sugar - the sourdough crust seems to affect the glycemic index of these pizzas. I wear a continuous glucose monitor, and pizza typically makes my blood sugar spike off the charts. I was pretty surprised to find that Bucky's pizza doesn't have the same effect, and my levels remained within a normal range. Of course, pizza isn't the healthiest meal around, but it's nice to know that a slice or two from Bucky's won't tip the scales too far. I had a few suspicious glances sent my way when I made a statement that I wasn't overly impressed with Bucky's pizza when sharing my first impression with my friends...having said that,perhaps I'll give it another shot sometime,to try the round pizza next time,and a couple other toppings. On this occasion,my husband and I ordered 2x square pizzas- Cacio e Pepe and Hot Honey with Ricotta,and only the latter topping was enjoyable. Whilst I really love sourdough (I'm also gluten-intolerant), the dough was too thick and too oily (likely because of the amount of cheese) for our liking. Cacio was also wayy too peppery (I know,I know...it's kinda supposed to be,but perhaps it's better as a pasta sauce rather than a pizza topping for me personally). What I truly appreciated,was premium ingredients being used,which you can tell. What was not as enjoyable during our visit was our server who seemed to be a bit distracted-he didn't bring us water for the table until asked,and we received our cutlery only after the pizza was served,which was unusual. I took the trouble to place an internet order 24 hours in advance to pick up at 1:00 p.m.. they made the order at 12:40 so I picked up a steamed pile of slop.
