Bucky's Pizza is phenomenal. Located in a strip mall in Chatham, NJ. I first went here when it was a pop up. Now went to the brick and mortar joint which has seating and a super friendly crew. Ordered through the Toast App for pick up. Ready on time and very hot. Got home and we dove in to the best Detroit pizza in the area. I got the Sausage, ricotta and chili oil pie. Ground sausage with uber fresh ricotta and sone spice from the chili oil. The char on the crust was fantastic. Everything you want from a Detroit pie. So damn good. My Daughter got the pepperoni ricotta and hot honey on Detroit pie as well. She loved it again. Everything is made fresh and with a. Obvious love of their craft. If I had to pick a favorite for the Detroit style, it would be the plain! Really happy to have Bucky's in the area. The pizza is high quality. You can taste the difference in the chewy airy crust and incredibly flavorful "fancy" mushrooms. This place has decent pizza but the customer service is inconsiderate, disrespectful, and racist. I walked in on a Saturday and was treated like I was stupid. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened. It was crazy and almost impossible to get in when they first opened but they have a super easy online ordering system now. After the online order, my order was ready and I received a text confirmation when my order was ready. I ordered for pick up but there is also seating in the back. Overall the pizza was fresh and I loved the Detroit style pizza. It is a little pricey, but I understand why it because the sourdough is fresh, tasty and the pizza is filling. I was passing through the area and decided to try their NY round pizza based on the positive reviews. Unfortunately the char on the bottom of the slice was too much and ruined it for me. Not sure I agree with Dave Portnoy of Barstool. The pizza was ok. We ordered a large cheese pie and a Detroit style cheese pie. We live 25 minutes away so by the time we picked it up and got home the pizza was cold. Pizza was mid. I didn't like the pepperoni. Tasted more like a cheaper commercial pepperoni. Too much pepperoni was on the pizza. It didn't need that. Sauce was slightly sweet, very good. Not enough cheese, would have preferred an option to add extra cheese. I'm not sure what the appeal of the crust is. It was a tougher chew, not tender, which is more indicative of a sourdough crust. We tried the Vodka 16 in round and the detroit style cacio e pepe (8x10 square). The spicy vodka came out looking amazing and tasting equally stellar. After burning the roof of our mouths, we enjoyed the slightly spicy and rich flavor of the pizza. The ratio of sauce to cheese was perfect for how we like it (ie, generous on the sauce, but still cheesy enough that you get those cheese strings stretching off after a bite). Notably, the Vodka does not come in the detroit style. The cacio e pepe was - wow - very rich! First bite was breathtaking. The dough is fluffy and thick, with a very crispy outer shell. We were passing through and were starving. We are from out of state so we don't know the area. Wanted something quick and close to the highway but not fast food. Found Bucky's and it was perfect. First, this town was super cute! Bucky's was also cute outside and inside and was busy in a Friday night. We were hoping for slices to go and they hooked us up with a variety. All were delicious. The friendly owner greeted us when we walked in and made sure we well taken care of. My impression was that he cares about his business and his customers. I have been looking forward to trying their brick and mortar spot for months. Rewind to June when I had a grad party to go to. They used Bucky's to cater the event. The best pizza! Not just Detroit style best...overall best. Made from scratch. Friendly owners. Great overall. Now I know they are not officially open in Chatham. When they do open I will be waiting outside as they turn the key. They are going to do exceptionally well. There is no good pizza in the 5 mile radius. Tried Bucky's for the first time this past Sunday, April 25, 2026. They serve pizza slices which is fabulous and those slices are 1/6 of a pie rather than the smaller 1/8 most other pizzerias serve. I had their vodka pizza slices. They also offer complementary hot honey, special dried chili peppers, etc. I put on their special dried mildly hot delicious chili pepper flakes. Pizza magic! Finally a real pizzeria in the area of Chatham, NJ. If you know what good pizza is supposed to be you'll love Bucky's. If you're one of the many midwestern transplants in the area that's been relocated here by the conglomerate you work for, there's a Domino's down the road for your Wisconsin bland palate. So I finally tried Bucky's. Well the Detroit Hot Honey Pepperoni Ricotta pizza lived up to the hype. It was delicious! I'm also glad we tried a round sausage, delicious as well! The only thing that kept me from giving Bucky's 5 stars was the Caesar Salad. It was bland, not enough dressing, and no croutons. It basically had no flavor. When you have a limited menu and you only offer 1 salad you better you do it right! Figure out how to make this salad shine or don't do it. read more

I give these guys a lot of credit. Opening up on Halloween in Chatham not an easy task. It is literally one of the busiest pizza nights of the year!! They handled it with professionalism and calmness. These guys were literally sold out in a couple hours. For anybody that had to wait, it was well worth it!! The meatballs and the marinara sauce that went with it were fantastic. The sausage pie was great as was the pepperoni. We also tried the Cacio Pepe and the round plain pie. Both were perfect. I prefer the pies and I loved the long hots pepper and shallot topping, it was a balance of sweet umami and a nice peppery bite, a drizzle of hot honey elevated this to something special especially in the local area. The square pizza doesn't hold the same value due to the price and since it is much smaller, however the cheese crust and flavor makes it reliably enjoyable. Finally something a little different on the NJ pizza scene. Tried their Hot honey pepperoni Detroit style pie today and it did not disappoint. At first it looked too small for 3 of us for lunch but with the thick crust it was plenty. It was fresh and very flavorful, loved the fresh ricotta dollops on top. And when pizza places do this, then sprinkle a bunch of parmesan on top of the pie, it eats really dry, almost mealy. I don't know why you'd go to the trouble to make a great sauce, then not use it.
