Buddha Vegetarian Restaurant was recommended to us by my Mom's dear friend and her daughter. Thank you! It is located in the same plaza as Thuan Phat Supermarket in South El Monte. Plenty of free parking. Interior was nicely decorated with gold, black, and gray theme. Very clean with lots of inside seating. One all gender restroom available. It was our first time here. It is a vegetarian restaurant. I am not a vegetarian, but I love vegetarian foods. Their menu offers a variety of common Vietnamese dishes. I had my eye on Bun Rieu and that's what I got. I also ordered a side of egg rolls. My Mom got a dish with some kind of bean or tofu cake and thin vermicelli. I saw the name of her item on the receipt, but I can't trace it back to anything on the menu at least not by name. The picture of it is on the menu though. I enjoyed my Bun Rieu very much. Tomato based flavor was on point. Lots of fresh ingredients. Plenty of rice noodles. Love the tofu skins! Highly recommend to anyone who loves Bun Rieu. My Mom loved her plate, too. Veggies were fresh and crisp. Good amount of thin vermicelli. Plenty of the bean or tofu cake. Perfectly balanced! Egg rolls were good. Filling was tasty. They had taro in them. Funny, there were 4 egg rolls, but only one big green leaf. Wished there was one green leaf per egg roll so we could get 4 individual wraps. To our surprise, we were given two complimentary mung bean desserts. It wasn't too sweet. It was quite delightful to end our meal with it. Thank you! Overall dining experience was nice and pleasant. Staff was friendly and attentive. Amazingly tasty vegetarian foods. Very reasonable prices. Total bill was less than $40. Can't beat it! We're coming back to try their other dishes.

I came here with my family on a Monday afternoon, luckily there was not a long wait during that time. However, due to it being so busy in the store, it did take some time for the server to come take our order. We got an order of banh hoi, banh beo, and bun bo hue. Everything turned out so delicious! The soup was very flavorful for the bun Bo hue and everything tasted like very authentic Vietnamese flavors. The server was really nice and so were the rest of the staff.

FOOD: all so delicious, with big portions. couldn't believe it's all vegetarian! my friend who isn't very well versed in vietnamese food really enjoyed it all too. LOTS of options SERVICE: good, they gave complimentary dessert and tea which was very kind! AMBIANCE: a nicer casual restaurant, not too loud. small parking lot

Authentic Vegeterian Food that I'm obssessed with! I often come here to order for vegetarian days, I've tried almost everything in the menu and nothing has ever disappointed me. They also have free meals every month ( I've never encounter one so I can't share my experience) The ambiance is nice, clean and organized. My regular dish would be caramelized fish and egg rolls and bun bo hue! Service is nice and quick!

Amazing vegan restaurant, everything tasted really good !! Tried their lemongrass chicken (vegan) and their spring rolls. The portions are filling and they also give you complimentary tea and dessert. Service was fast and the ambiance inside for dine in is good. Will definitely be back to try their menu again.

We stumbled on this place after running an errand in the area. OMG what a gem! We were there really early - like, 4:30pm on a weekday. So they were empty. Food was amazing. Service was fine. Food was AMAZING (this bears repeating). Vegan fish sauce FTW. Can't wait to go back.

I honestly hate vegetarian food or anything green and healthy but tried this place because my vegetarian aunt said we were going to buffet but somehow ended up here. Anyway I had no idea what they order but there were some good ones. The one with the sesame seed chips , the plate with the square thing, vermicelli and veggies, and the circle baby dishes were good. The soup was okay it did taste like hot and sour soup but if they had meat it'd be good but I know vegetarian restaurant so they won't so. Food came out really fast. My aunts and uncles say this is the best vegetarian place around here and they are glad they don't have to go to OC to eat vegetarian. As a meat lover, I would only go back. On that note they also have vegetarian bun rieu and bun bo hue.

Buddha Vegetarian is my new favorite vegetarian restaurant! I'm not vegetarian, but I love vegetarian food. I have been going to many around the area, and was really happy to see it open. I have been here 3 times so far and the food has been excellent each time. Everything tastes fresh and healthy with great flavor and texture. Service is fast and friendly. They are open every day from 9am-7pm. There is plenty of parking in the lot shared with Thuan Phat Supermarket. If you're looking for a fresh, flavorful and healthy meal, Buddha Vegetarian is a must-try.

This is a new Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant in the SGV. They have a variety of vegetarian food on their menu at reasonable prices. I've been here multiple times. Whenever I visit, banh beo is a must. The topping was well seasoned, and it tasted like real shrimp. The fried chives, crunchy croutons, and vegetarian fish sauce really elevate the taste of banh beo. I definitely recommend you try this place, whether you are a vegetarian or not; it will not disappoint you. I can't wait to come back to try everything they offer.

It's located in a small plaza so parking is limited. I thought it was takeout only so I was surprised that we were directed to sit down. The man who took our order was... quick and efficient. I say that because he'll just point at you and ask what you want and not go in a particular order. He didn't write down our order and repeated what we want before we finished talking. Hey, as long as the food is right, I'm not going to get mad at how the order was taken. The food didn't take long at all. I ordered curry and we were given a plate of veggies to add to our soups. I'm not a big fan of Vietnamese food but I absolutely loved the food here. The soups came in large bowls so it's something that's definitely shareable. I tried a bit of my friend's food and they were all so good. Especially the fish! It's probably the best fish I've ever had. At the end, we were given mung bean soup for dessert. It's not my favorite thing but it was tasty. I will be coming back for the fish!

We were greeted right away and sat down, service overall was very friendly. The meal started off with complimentary soup which was surprisingly hearty. We ordered the banh xeo, crispy chicken, and the yellow noodles. The portions here are no joke! The banh xeo came with a generous portion as well as a lot of lettuce/herbs on the side. The crispy chicken was very delicious and fresh...taste just like chicken! We were very surprised. The yellow noodles came on a huge platter and they did not skimp on the vegetables on the plate. Out of all the dishes, i think the banh xeo was my favorite because it was so crispy and flavorful when everything was put together. They were even kind enough to offer complimentary dessert which was mung bean based. I love bean type desserts so this was very delicious. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back to try all the other items I think next on the list will be the roasted chicken, rice rolls, and lemongrass chicken.

Extremely disappointing experience. I will never ever recommend this place!!!…read moreI came here with a friend expecting a decent meal, but the entire experience was frustrating from start to finish. I ordered the $16 tomato and egg noodles, while my friend ordered the $17 zhajiang noodles. Before ordering, I specifically asked the owner whether I could get a noodle refill. He told me yes. After I finished my noodles, I asked for the refill and was suddenly told that only the zhajiang noodles could be refilled. If that is the restaurant's policy, it should have been clearly explained when I asked before ordering. Telling a customer "yes" first and then changing the answer after they have finished their meal is simply poor communication and poor service. The service was the worst part of the experience. My noodles took an unnecessarily long time to come out. More importantly, I felt that the owner treated me noticeably differently from my friend. He was friendly toward my friend but cold and impatient toward me, which made me feel genuinely unwelcome. I understand that tipping is customary in the US, but customers should not feel that the quality of service depends on how much they order or whether they leave a tip. I came here as a paying customer and expected basic courtesy. The food was also nowhere near worth the price. My $16 tomato and egg noodles were extremely basic, only noodles with tomato and egg and they sell it for $16!?? The flavor was nothing special and certainly did not justify the price. My friend's $17 zhajiang noodles had very little meat, and the meat was chopped into tiny pieces. For nearly $20 after tax and tip, this level of food is simply not acceptable to me. The value is poor. $16-17 for a basic bowl of noodles can be reasonable if the food, portion, service, or overall experience makes it worthwhile. Here, none of those things stood out. The ambiance was also underwhelming. There was nothing particularly comfortable, welcoming, or memorable about the dining environment that would justify the price. Combined with the poor service, the atmosphere made the meal feel even less enjoyable. What makes this experience especially frustrating is that I hadn't eaten all day. I came here genuinely hungry and looking forward to a good meal, only to leave feeling irritated and disappointed. There are plenty of other Chinese noodle restaurants in the area where I can spend $16-17 and actually feel like I received a meal worth paying for. For the price, the food is mediocre, the value is poor, the ambiance is unremarkable, and the service was unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this restaurant, do not come!

Opening the menu was both exciting and dangerous because everything looked incredible. It felt like vegan comfort food heaven. We were craving something that tasted like a home-cooked meal, and let's just say...rice is life! We ordered the Clay Pot Veggie Fish with a basket of white rice, and WOW. The savory sauce was packed with flavor, and the fresh crushed peppercorns added the perfect kick. It came with a fresh salad and pickled vegetables that balanced everything beautifully. We also ordered the Banh Ot Cha Lua, the rice paper rolls, and the vegan egg rolls. I loved that they served the egg rolls with lettuce and fresh mint for wrapping--exactly how I grew up eating them at my mom's house. That nostalgic touch instantly earned bonus points. What really stood out was the hospitality. When we mentioned it was our first visit and that we had driven all the way from Torrance, our host smiled and asked, "Would you like to hear our favorite dishes?" Umm...yes, please! That's the kind of genuine customer service that makes people feel like family instead of just another table. Everything arrived piping hot, fresh, and made with care. It was so good that before leaving, I ordered another Clay Pot Veggie Fish to go because I knew I'd be craving it later. THE PET dish (yes, that's actually what it's called, no I didn't question it) pumpkin, eggplant, tofu situation was ridiculously good. Super aromatic, layered, one of those dishes where you keep going back for "one more bite" like a liar. Then the vegan drumsticks. Look... why did they nail the texture like that? It gave McDonald's nugget energy in the most nostalgic, slightly concerning way. I don't know how to feel about it but I finished them, so there's that. Service was fast, efficient, not trying to be your best friend. Honestly, respect. Menu? A full novel. You will not read all of it. You will pretend to skim and then panic order. It's a fusion situation but leans Thai, and somehow it all works. Price point is definitely on the pricier vegan end, but portions are shareable so you can justify it to yourself.
