Today we stopped by Buddy's Burgers after kayaking the San Marcos River and we were definitely ready for some real food. I ordered the bacon burger, seasoned fries, and a strawberry lemonade. The burger was juicy, well seasoned, and really good. The fries came out hot and crispy, with just just. Enough Cajun seasoning. The strawberry lemonade was sweet and tangy and comes with free refills. You can also choose strawberry, mango, or classic lemonade. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The building is pretty big with family-style tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had a group of eight and were able to sit together by adding a chair at each end of the table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (All of my friends have "restaurant names" which I have never heard of.) After you place your order they call your name when the food is ready, and they may even bring it to your table. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stopped in on a recent road trip and are happy we did. The place has several tables inside which we took advantage of to get out of the car for a bit. The menu is simple, but we enjoyed our burgers. We tried the regular and the seasoned fries as well as a chocolate shake. The burgers were great and the fries were tasty. Original smash burger was pretty tasty and really enjoyed it. Their sauce seemed familiar but couldn't pinpoint where the similarity stemmed from. While Ienjoyed the burger and it was yum, the buns seemed cold which was odd and a striking contrast to the hot patty. The fries were good and well seasoned but the only issue I had was that a few of the fries at the bottom were still frozen, like these were at the top when they were frying them and didn't get fried all the way . Overall 4.5 rating. Stopped in here for the first one, Sunday, for lunch. I immediately noticed the Double Spicy burger in the menu. Anything with jalapenos will grab my attention quickly lol. The beef was super tender and seasoned well. The melted cheese and jalapeños was such a great mesh, so almost ordered a 2nd one to go. It's a very simple menu - single or double, regular or spicy...and beer on tap. They didn't blow my mind, but they weren't skimping on meat and the fries were seasoned a bit strong maybe; next time I'll temper the seasoning with some ketchup. We had milkshakes to go.
