They are great for selling your old beater that doesn't run, a bit stingy on the price even for cars that are less than 15 years old they only give $300, $200 if you're having it towed. In a pinch though they'll clear that spot in your drive way for the car you thought you'd have time/money to fix but never did. How is a person supposed to figure out if they have parts for a vehicle we're looking for if they don't answer the phone?

I was going to this yard with my father since I was a kid even before they got bought out, now this place is awful, staff is very unfriendly and they absolutely need to know what car/part your after before even stepping into the yard, they have a whole other section of cars that you can get stuff from but you MUST tell them what part you need from what car before even knowing the car is in there (there's no list anywhere, and there's a giant fence blocking your view). about a month ago I was trying to get a spoiler off a z32 and I was told if I want the wing now I have to get the whole trunk (their reason being "if I only take the wing rain will get in and it will ruin the interior making it hard for other people to get stuff")...umm yeah if I take the whole trunk then water will definitely get in bud...the staff almost hates you for just even being there. iv been told by someone in the yard that they literally slide the old dude with white hair some money to let him know when good stuff gets there so he can resell...cmon bro im just trying to put together my car. they charge up the wazoo now to say the least, almost not worth in some case's. I was buying a throttle Body cover (thing of plastic) and mirror Controls...it took this lady 10 minutes of clicking before giving me a price on it when it used to just be "yeah I'll take 20 bucks for everything" unfortunately it's one of the last remaining do it yourself car scrap yards so I have to begrudgingly shop their sometimes but I'd rather not give them the business. read more

After buying a used 2004 Toyota Sienna Limited, I wanted to get winter tires, mounted on cheap wheels, without breaking the bank. I also wanted to use the same tire size as the summer tires -- 17" -- so that I could just keep one set of snow chains that worked on both sets of tires. The largest I'd had before was 15", so normally this would cost quite a bit more than I was used to. Doing that through tirerack dot com or Discount Tires would be over $900 all told. Instead, I found a local guy on Craigslist who was selling his barely-used excellent brand winter tires because he was moving to southern California. He was asking $200 and accepted my offer of $150. Next I needed to find a good price on wheels. Budget Auto Wrecking had them, and for only $25 each. They're ugly but that's what I expected. I might repaint them this summer. Most of the wheels they offer for that are not ugly, but they did not have as many 17s as smaller sizes. I wonder if that's due to less supply or higher demand, or both. I was also pleased and startled that they would mount and balance them for only $15 each! I don't remember when I've paid so little. Lately it's been nearly twice that. So for only $160 I got a set of 4 wheels and got the tires mounted and balanced on them. Grand total including the sales tax I paid Budget, $326. And Budget will now be my go-to place for having any tires mounted and balanced. On the other hand, come to think of it just now as I'm writing this, I don't know if $15 is a special price for if you're also buying the wheels. FWIW there was a bit of a language barrier; English seems to be a 2nd language for everyone in the tire shop. There were a couple of times when I just could not understand something they were asking me until they'd repeated it a couple times. But they were all super friendly and helpful. And I don't think even the high end fancy performance shops have more competent people mounting and balancing tires. Oh -- don't come here in nice dress clothes. This is a greasy, dirty place. I don't blame them at all for that; for prices this good with service this good, that comes with the territory. Just dress down in old clothes, and wear sneakers, and if you're going to put wheels inside your minivan or wagon, bring plenty of blankets or something to put them on so you don't end up having to clean dirt and grease off of the interior. I brought one blanket but should have brought more. It kept the carpet clean but I had to clean dirt & grease off of the leather seats. If I could do it all over again, I'd go with the 16" wheel & tire size from the other Sienna trim levels (XLE, LE. etc) instead of 17". Both the tires and wheels are so much more plentiful. It would have been much less work and time overall to just have two sets of snow chains for the two different sizes of tires! read more

You need to know at least a couple things before you come to an auto wrecking yard in search of parts. First, bring your own tools. Second, you pull the part from the vehicle; somebody else doesn't do that for you. We didn't know any of this until this week, when we found we needed a bolt to keep the driver's seat in our car from rolling off into the wild blue yonder, or so it seemed it was going to do. I wonder where the original bolt went... So of course we came to Budget without tools, but the friendly guy at the counter shared with us what tools he had. We went out back and found the car he had directed us to. JP went to work and nabbed the bolt we wanted. When we came back in to drop off the tools, the guy at the counter waived us goodbye without any charge for the part. I like that. read more

There were 2 pros to this company: 1) they were willing to pick up my vehicle, 2) they paid the most for it ($75). The cons were: 1) It was hard to get a hold of them, 2) Their customer service was terrible, 3) They were VERY late with no communication that they would be, and 4) The driver was very unprofessional. They told me they would meet me at my mechanic's at 10:30 and they would give me a call when they got there. At 10:45 I still hadn't heard from them so I gave them a call at which point a lady in an annoyed voice answered and I explained that I was told they would meet me at 10:30. The lady said they were running late so I asked how long and she said "I just had a driver pull in, so 40 min." I got upset and she said "Well if you want to just leave the title there, we can get the car and mail you a check." I said no thank you, I'll wait and hung up. I decided to go run a quick errand since I had 40 min. at which point the tow truck driver calls and says he'll be there in 16 minutes! Overall, I'm glad to be done with the experience and I doubt I will use this company again until it makes some improvements. read more

In case you don't know, self-help wrecking yards is not really a service business. You traipse out through a muddy lot to comb over the carcasses of dead cars and either find what you are looking for, or you don't. It's a pretty straight forward business. But it didn't hurt that the guys were nice and helpful: they lent me tools, let me use the indoor bathroom to wash up, answered questions, and made some small talk. Price was okay, too; I got a part here for $150 that is selling for $125-$350 on Ebay. read more

They have a good selection, but the guy at the counter just guesses at how much stuff costs. "The more you have, the cheaper it is." -In the words of the sales guy. No set prices. They just charge way too much. They even wanted to charge me for the nuts and bolts that came with a certain part! Usually that's just standard protocol: you buy a part, you get the nuts and bolts that go with it. But if you're desperate, they have a descent selection of Japanese cars (i.e. Honda, Acura, Mitsubishi, Toyota, etc). You pull. The yard guys are helpful, sales guy (at least the one that bragged about being there for 24 years) is a jerk. read more

Got stuck with an engine that was a non runner for $650 and they will do nothing about it. they said they could do nothing about it and that walked in the store with an attitude. This is for the truck yard only. I know the drill, I've used salvage places like this up and down the west coast since the 80's. A good place will have some idea of what kind of vehicles they have in stock, and the rest is up to you -- you find and pull the part, don't hurt yourself or do anything dumb like dump oil in the yard, and they charge a fair price. Not this place -- or at least the truck section. They have no idea what vehicles they have in the yard, and the meagre inventory is picked bare. I'd been looking for a seat for a F150, and had been assured they had plenty to pick through. When I got there, I see they have only a dozen Ford trucks at all, half picked bare, and not a single truck from the year range I'd asked about. There's nothing malicious about BSing me over the phone, it was just a lazy lie that cost me a half tank of gas and a wasted morning. If you're a good vulture, save yourself the trip, there's no meat on the bones down here. I'd give them one star, but they're fairly nice, have a good selection of wheels, and you might get lucky if you're looking for common engine bits. Just don't expect them to have any clue what vehicles they have. read more

Best wrecking yard around, hands down! The team at the counter is fantastic and the lot is laid out by manufacturer which makes it easy to find what you need. You get consistently fair pricing plus the autonomy to pull the parts yourself which I favor heavily over being forced to let an employee pick/choose for you like some other places. If you aren't as well versed or mechanical, the guys are helpful and very knowledgeable on part/year/model interchange and are on top of what's currently available; they can usually tell you right away if they have the car/part you want and even what row it's in! Heading in again later this week for a new project and figured I'd leave a quick review. They should have a much higher score than they do. It sucks that some folks apparently have no idea what a recycle/wrecking yard is and expect to be spoon-fed brand new parts at lower than used prices without putting in any effort of their own. I never had any issue with these guys at all. I come in with my tool bag they ask what I'm looking for then I'm in my way. I didn't have a 10mm socket and an extension so they even let me barrow some tools so I'm not sure why so many bad reviews but these guys have helped me out so many times and not once was I disappointed at all. When you pull up it's your standard junk-yard but the office is air conditioned, clean, and well lit with free coffee and hot chocolate. There are also some vending machines with reasonably priced sodas and snacks. I never actually ventured out to the yard but it looked nice from the window. I just talked the rudest and laziest employee on earth. God forgive him if he was the owner. I was asking for a sunroof for a 1998 Subaru Outback. This person just told me that they have outbacks and to just come over and purchased the sunroof for $50. That is really a bargain. After calling the dealer to verify the parts, I called Budget again and asked if he can tell me what Outback model do they have. My Subaru has two sunroofs and the size of the sunroof from double-sunroof Outbacks are different from single-sunroof Outbacks. The guy said he does not know. I asked if he can check since I live quite far from their location. The rude person told me that if I live far, then just don't come....... "if I live far, just don't come???" He could have just told me all sorts of reason why he can't check inventory, but instead, he wanted me to try my luck, waste my time and gas and look for myself. what an as***! Instead of lifting his fingers or butt and look at their inventory, he wants me to do his job. This person might be having a bad day. From what I read from previous reviews, the employees were helpful. But it is this kind of attitude that brings a business down. Get a life, man. read more

I spent half the afternoon on the phone with various wrecking yards today. I was simply trying to find A place that would tow My old vehicle away. I don't know if it's because it was a Friday afternoon or that it was rather warm outside, but everybody at all the Auto Parts & towing businesses I spoke with on the phone seemed to be in a very bad mood !!! After having been on the phone for 3 hours with no success, I had the distinct pleasure of speaking with Becky at Budget Auto Wrecking of Kent tonight! Wow! Talk about a breath of fresh air! She was extremely kind , helpful , and accommodating. I mentioned how much difficulty I had in trying to arrange to get my car towed from Kirkland to a junk yard . Every single similar Business I called responded to my request as if I was speaking in a foreign language. Even though I was requesting a Service that these businesses advertised as their specialty, answers ranged from moderately rude to cursing to verbally abusive to just hanging up on me!!! All this, just for asking my opening question about getting my car towed . Becky at Budget Auto Wrecking of Kent , went out of her way to apologize for her towing / salvage competitors from Mount Vernon to Everett to Lynnwood to Seattle. I just want to publicly thank her for restoring my faith in humanity!!! It also turns out that Tony, the tow driver ,who was supposed to call Monday morning between 730 and 8 to arrange the time of the tow did call at exactly 730 a.m. They did everything as they promised they would do and followed through with everything politely and professionally . Budget Auto Wrecking of Kent did exactly what they promised they would do !!! If that isn't a recipe I mean recommendation for a wonderful business, I don't know what else one could hope for. Because I like restoring old cars, I am in and out of wrecking yards all over the Puget Sound area. I must say that Budget has been my favorite go-to yard for quite some time. They always go out of their way to help and if you treat them with respect you will get it back in spades. It is easy to recommend them if you are looking for a part. I read some of these negative reviews and I can't square any of them with my experiences especially the guy that wrote about a "bunch of fat old guys." Literally their entire inventory is ready for the metal scrap yard and what little they do have to offer is overpriced and incomplete . Yet they still gouge you with demanding high prices and if you don't agree to their demand, you just wasted your time and pulled the part for the crooks to resell to another unsuspecting client.
