    The face of the company yelling at me across the lobby.

    I would pay extra to not deal with this place ever again! I called 9 times at opening NEVER received an answer from the physical location but the call center assured me that they would have my vehicle I paid in advance for! I came on time for pick up and the vehicle was being held for someone not ever there yet to pick up and I have to wait an hour while one is cleaned! Then I was yelled at with two other customers in between me and the "customer service rep" that two other people came EARLY for their reservation so they gave the other cars away meanwhile we were on time for our reservation and having to wait for over an hour! The lady and gentle man with his marijuana charm refused to give me their name. Horrible service!!! Never use the Brandon Town Center Location!

    Avoid this rude woman at all costs.

    Does Not Honor Reservations and Has Terrible Customer Service…read more I just received an email from Suncoast this morning regarding a trip I booked through Turo on March 26, which is about 40 days from now. Suncoast informed me that the vehicle I RESERVED and PAID FOR was damaged and they would not be able to fix it in time for my reservation on March 26. It's unfortunate that someone damaged Suncoast's property, but as a local rental car company, I would expect other cars to be available. I asked them to please find a suitable replacement for me, considering I had already booked this reservation and pre-paid. But they declined to help me for some reason. I am guessing it's because the Chevrolet Spark I rented is priced much lower than other rental cars in the Greater Tampa Bay Area that weekend. Perhaps they saw that other rental car companies were charging higher rates, and decided to cancel my reservation. Whatever the reason, there's no denying that Suncoast has terrible customer service and their actions seem akin to racketeering. What's worse is that they left me high and dry without a rental car! They told me to go online and book "one of the hundreds of rentals in the area." That's not true. There aren't even CLOSE to hundreds of rentals available in the price range I secured with my RESERVATION. As a result, Suncoast left me in a position where I am now forced to pay much more money for a car reservation. If Suncoast was concerned about their level of service whatsoever, they would find me a replacement car from their inventory. In the meantime, I would highly recommend using ANY OTHER rental car company in the Tampa Bay area that's fair, honors their reservations, provides good customer service and doesn't cancel on you at the last minute for no good reason.

A few minutes later, I was informed that the vehicle hadn't actually been checked in and was apparently still out on rental. No problem--things happen. The employee then offered me a Buick Encore and assured me that it was both a midsize SUV and all-wheel drive. Since I had an eight-day trip ahead of me, I accepted it based on that information. Spoiler alert: it was neither. The Buick Encore is not a midsize SUV, and it was not AWD. After spending eight days in a vehicle that wasn't what I reserved, I mentioned it to the same employee upon returning the car. His response? "Who told you that?" Well... you did. At that point, I was told that reservations are not guaranteed and was handed the billing department's phone number to sort it out myself. The bright spot in this experience was Hertz customer service over the phone. The representative confirmed that I was, in her words, "thoroughly correct" and acknowledged that I had not been given the class of vehicle I reserved. I did receive a small credit, which I appreciated. I understand that inventory changes and substitutions sometimes have to happen. What I don't appreciate is being told I'm getting a midsize AWD SUV when I'm not, especially when I'm about to head out on an eight-day road trip. So, if you reserve a specific class of vehicle at this location, you may want to double-check exactly what you're being handed the keys to before driving away. I didn't have time to fight; I had to get on the road for my trip. Apparently, "midsize AWD SUV" can be a very flexible definition here.
