Very disappointing experience at the this location. I was made to wait for around 20 minutes while the staff were constantly giggling among themselves instead of properly assisting customers. After finally being called, I was asked to sign the contract and was handed the keys without any proper explanation or vehicle walkthrough. When I checked the car, it was in very poor condition both inside and outside. The vehicle was not clean at all and did not meet basic rental standards. I immediately went back and requested an exchange, but I was told it was not possible. This completely wasted valuable time during a long weekend trip with my family. I also requested a supervisor's contact number to escalate the issue, but I was only given the same location number again: 813-653-0033. For reference, the receipt states the vehicle was rented to me by AH-NEJAH. If anyone from management is reviewing this, please contact me at ginjupallivgopinath@gmail.com because I would like to formally escalate this matter. Hesitated to try this Avis based on the poor reviews but it's convenient so decided to give it a try. Glad we did. Arrived an hour early than our requested pick up time and the car was ready. There was no wait to get help, we were the only customer at 10 am on a Wednesday morning. Filled out paperwork and on our way. The only issue we had was the car needed windshield washer fluid, which we filled up. A little inconvenient but not a big deal. Returning the car was just as easy. Make sure you write down your mileage and take a picture of the full tank of gas before returning the keys to the location, since they do not have a person in the lot to do it for you. Overall we were very pleased with the rental and will use them again. read more

The only downside here was the address points you to the wrong spot at the mall. But thank God for Yelp, and people that posted the location. Pickup was easy, but the tank was almost empty, the car smelt bad and they didn't put a fob with information on the key ring - just the key, so drop off was insane. The drop off people were not easy to work with AT ALL. After we were there and just trying to drop off and leave (we had a 15 hour drive and were trying to beat rush hour traffic) I was told to go repark in a specific area way further away that I originally parked and walk back to give them the key, (they didn't tell us beforehand to park there) then said if we didn't repark, we'd be charged $100? so I repark then go back and they can't find my information in their system, then tell me I have to go back out to the car and back in the office AGAIN because I have to get them a photo of the mileage and gas tank. Why can you not get that information when you go out to the car?? It took over 30 minutes dealing with these people before I got to leave resulting in late drop off which I showed up 30 minutes early to. It was my first time using this company and it will be MY LAST. Sticking with Hertz and I recommend everyone else do the same. read more

This is one of the worst rental places I've been to. The manger and her partner in crime are complete idiots. 1st off they call 1hr before we are to pick up the rental to say they don't have the car we requested. Mind you we rented this vehicle a week in advance. 2nd we used our credit card as form of payment however due to fraud/scamming in the world we use virtual cards to submit payments online. We get there and are told they cannot take the card we used and would have to cancel the reservation and cannot honor the prices we paid for originally. After all that we called enterprise and got a cheaper rate and was in and out of the office in 30 minutes! All in all this place is a complete joke! I would stay away far far away! read more

I made a reservation. My ride didn't come through so I had to take a ride share to the place. I was more than 20 minutes late. I'm generally very punctual. Anyways, when I arrived I was told there were no cars. I was also told by the person there that she called customers to tell them that there were no cars. She told me that she didn't call me because she thought there would be cars by the time I arrived. Odd because I arrived late. Of course I had questions. I didn't get any answers or any decent explanations. I hung around the mall for about 30 minutes then came back and there was no information. Instead of giving me any new information, I was asked what I was going to do. An odd question since my reservation was nearly an hour ago and I was told there were no cars. Long story short, I took another ride share home and cancelled my long weekend plans. I could've salvaged my plans but I would've been so behind schedule that things would've gone poorly. I spent almost fifty bucks on two ride shares and I have yet to hear from Avis over 14 hours later. No contact, no explanation, no apology. Nothing. AVIS locations are either owned and operated by the AVIS corporation or they are independently owned and operated as a franchise of the AVIS corporation. The Westfield Mall AVIS location is independently owned and operated and should be your first stop for car rental needs. Even within AVIS's paradigm of corporate and franchised locations this store stands out as exceptional. AVIS corporation hasn't quite figured out how to cease 3rd party reservations (Priceline, KAYAK, etc) at locations whose inventory runs out and we were allowed by AVIS system to book through Priceline a vehicle at a location with zero available cars. Upon arriving at the location, we were informed there were no vehicles available at any local AVIS except the Corporate AVIS airport location. Our reservation was amended to pick up at the airport and notes were entered on our reservation to ensure the airport would charge us the price guaranteed by our initial reservation. We diverted to the airport location only to be told that our reservation would not be honored at the price we booked on Priceline because prices are higher at the airport and agents have no mechanism for adjusting prices. We were told we would have to pay double the price we booked on Priceline if we wanted a vehicle. After speaking extensively to customer service the only option we were provided was to pay the full double price and potentially receive a credit after returning the vehicle. This was unacceptable to us, we declined, and we returned to the location were initially booked to pick up. There we explained our situation to "Jeff" and he was very understanding and recognized that it was important to make sure our initial reservation was honored and we were able to rent a vehicle. He explained that the computer system helps efficiency, but that the people whom represent AVIS have a duty to ensure the consumer is treated fairly, with dignity, and that contracts should be honored. Jeff was able to procure a vehicle and make sure our initial reservation terms were honored, which meant we were not stranded without a vehicle and we did not have to pay double our reservation price. Jeff took it upon himself to not only represent his brand with integrity, but to do it because it was the right thing to do. We did not cause a scene or raise our voices, we did not have to, because Jeff immediately recognized the injustice in the Airport location dropping the ball and rather than loose a customer AVIS retained a customer. This location is excellent and their actions are exemplary in a time when artificial intelligence is taking over customer service and the few humans that are left are atrocious. Worst experience I have EVER HAD in regards to customer service. We showed up to pick up our vehicle which we had been getting confirmations for all day. When we showed up they told us that they did not have any cars available for us but that they could upgrade us to a seven seater vehicle for an extra $40. We asked why as the customer we would have to pay the extra money for the company's fault in scheduling. The girl there told us that it was corporate policy that you had to pay for upgrades and that we were lucky to have gotten there at the time we did because there was only one car left and about five people that needed cars. We asked why we weren't contacted ahead of time to be told that there was no cars so we didn't have to drive all the way there. She had no answer for this and said that the person who was supposed to drop off the car called to say they were stuck in traffic and wouldn't be there on time. I again asked why they couldn't just call and relay the message to us so we did not drive all the way there. Again no answer, just arguments and lots of "there's nothing we can do. You have to pay the $40." The two women working showed absolutely no empathy and did not care at all that they were leaving us without a car. We later called customer service and they apologized and said that their policy is to waive any upgrade fees if there are no cars available during your reservation time. He refunded us the money and we had to track down another vehicle at a different location. For anyone out there considering this location, please know that this location does not follow corporate rules and does not have any empathy or sense of customer service. I am absolutely appalled and cannot believe that this even happened. read more

This is a bait and switch operation. They have predatory practices. Worst place ever. Prepaid for a rental car. Reservation was for 10:00 am. As of 11:22am, they have no rental cars and have no idea when the cars are coming. The employees are useless. We called them earlier and they told us there would be no problem with picking up the car. The only car available is a minivan for $391.00 for one day which is way more than what I paid for my confirmed rental. The employees do nothing to make customers happy. They were telling everyone they needed to pay more for their rental than what was confirmed in their reservation. In the past when I had a car rental confirmation and the car I wanted wasn't available, the rental car company gave me an upgrade for free. When I asked for a refund, they said they can't do that - I have to call corporate. We went to the airport and got a car. read more

I prepaid for my rental to get a better rate. My credit card was charged in August. When I picked up the car in October, there was no record of my prepayment in their computer system. I had to pay again at a higher rate. When I came Home and called customer service, they issued a credit of only $18.14. After a week, they did credit my account for the original prepayment. I was still overcharged $26.96 even after the refund of $18.14. Do not prepay your rental as you will only have a big hassle and end up paying the regular rate in the end. read more

I always have a great experience with this location. In fact, I drive out of my way to come to this location (Brandon Town Center in Brandon Florida) because of the friendly staff. Just yesterday, I rented a car from Sahar. She seems to live there. She always has a smile and a great disposition. Renting from her is a breeze. In and out in 5 minutes. Reading the reviews, it sounds like people are unhappy when they don't get the car in the picture on the website. Sahar has always taken good car of me. If she doesn't have what I requested, she takes care of me anyways. Most of the time, the car is better than I signed up for. After 1.5 hours I was offered an upgrade at my expense, no discount. I unwillingly accepted only to find that the minivan was a complete piece of junk. 686 Brandon Town Center Mall Brandon, FL 33511 I have rented from this location four times now. All through a corporate account. First three rentals did not thrill me, as cars were always dirty and sometimes smelled of smoke. But due to its distance from my house I just kept going back. Each time I would take the vehicle home to clean the dash, steering wheel and anything with a screen (radio, back up camera) so I could actually see them. So today I returned my fourth rental. As always I forgot to check the mileage when I returned it, after all why do I need to worry about the mileage (its a unlimited mileage rental). All previous times they would run out and grab the odometer reading. Today I was told to go get the mileage. I did as asked but when I returned, I suggested they not ask a customer to perform such a task. The immeditate response was a swift "it's in your contract" while holding the pamphlet up. This to me was the last straw for this location (closest to me or not). Overall there is a lack of customer apprecition, in overall attitude and vehicle readiness upon pick-up. I have been renting cars very consistantly for the last 30 years of my life. I have never been to told to go back to the car for something on return. Would I recommend this location? I've rented cars from Avis for years. Months after my last rental, they made false damage claims against me and billed my credit card. I spoke to their customer service and their claims departments, and they called me a liar and said "The charges are valid and will not be adjusted". They as much as admitted they didn't really know when the damage occurred, but they figured they could stick it on me so they were going to. I told them I'd use a different car rental company from now on, and they had their little laugh. Update: After complaining on social media, I finally got to a person who cared about the truth. They found that the claim was improper and the charges were reversed. I recommend taking before and after pictures when renting any car. read more

Today, I get there and they tell me my car isn't there (why take reservations when you don't know when the cars will be there, people set times because they have places to be) then the ladies (one named Giovanna I believe) working acted like it wasn't their problem and that I should just wait around all day.
