TLDR: They let me book a van on Friday. On Sunday at pickup time they said "nope". On Friday afternoon, the website allowed me to book a cargo van for Sunday morning at 8:00 am. I received a confirmation email at 4:38 pm. I received a "your move is almost here" Reminder on Friday at 10:53 pm. No communication on Saturday. On Sunday as I was driving to get the van, at 7:59am, they left me a message "we have no vans for you. Don't come." Not having picked up my phone, I arrived at 8:01 to get the van. Since the mall wasn't yet open, I had to call them to let me in, but was instead told they had no vans, trucks, or anything to rent. I was also told by the worker that he was not aware of my booking until Sunday just before 8. Seeing vans in the parking lot, I was told that they were all under a recall and could not be rented. Hey- they had the big truck with lift gate that we needed, even during burning man prep week, 5 stars . Was quoted the wrong price on the phone but was told it would be honored and it was, 5 stars. Customer service was to the point, courteous, easily communicated 5 stars. The vehicle I don't think has ever been cleaned, was pretty gross, but it served its function, 2 stars. My sister in law made a reservation for a car at the East ridge Loop location, we get to the mall try calling because we were not exactly sure of the location inside the mall. No answer, but we end up finding the store ourselves. We walk in and end up waiting for about 5-7 minutes meanwhile the whole time I am calling and still no answer nor anyone walking out from the back. No one was there when we arrived so my husband sat down. Another customer came & sat down too. When employee showed up, my husband offered the reservation number & his name. The employee proceeded to yell at him for being 2 hours late. He claimed our time was 10:15am and my husband showed him the email that said 11:30am. Yes, we were 50 mins late for pick up but not 2 hours like he kept accusing. Regardless, we still needed to pick up the truck so we're like ok time shouldn't be a problem right now unless you're not giving us a truck because we're 50 mins late. The guy continued to yell at my husband for being late and saying his email time didn't matter. He was slapping paper in front of him saying "you're late!" My husband told him, "I think you have the wrong person. I'm here to pick up." The employee realizes his mistake and says "oh it must be that guy" as he points to the guy who came in after us. Then he tells my husband to wait and he has to help the other guy first. At this point we're upset with how he's treated us because he mistook us for someone else despite trying to tell him repeatedly. As the employee was doing the return for the other person, another guy comes in. Once the employee finished helping the first guy, my husband proceeds to approach the counter. THE EMPLOYEE TELLS HIM NO! He told us we have to wait while he helped the other person who JUST WALKED IN first! We called Budget to confirm we wouldn't be charged and cancelled. We had no problem renting from this site. The price to rent was good after discounts since it wasn't a Holiday Season. The Jeep we rented was brand new and clean. I gave this place a 4-star because it was weird that we were told to keep the car clean so we actually vacuumed the interior before returning it. Wondering if they even clean it after usage. Overall, however, good experience. Customer Service was just OK. I am not sure though if I will rent from here again. It's a 50/50 chance as of now. read more

Scammer location: Do not rent here!! I would give this 0 stars if I could. The van was dirty inside and during covid thats unacceptable but my main issue was what I was charged. They were supposed to out a hold for 188 and charge me correct amount at drop off. I only use the truck for 3 hours and drop it off and that location has no record in their system of what to charge me because systems aren't linked. We both call Eastridge location and they say I should be charge 98 only and that's what they're putting through. They can email me q receipt or provide me any copy of what they charged and said to check c.c. statement which showed the pending 188. 3 days later I see that the charge goes through and 188 is what I was actually charged. Called location and they were rude rushed me odd the phone said that was the right amount, said to call customer care, took another call while talking to me and then hung up on me. Then called budget customer care and they wouldn't get a supervisor, only would give me 50 back and hung up on me twice. Now I'm being told different terms for miles and stuff then what the man told me when I picked it up, which was miles will be reflected at end of service and charged appropriately. The WORST rental experience of any type in 35 years of renting cars and vans. I wanted to avoid this location due to bad reviews but my reservation at the Santa Clara location was switched to here by budget. Starting with the fact the location is very hard to find because believe it or not it's inside a shopping mall, when I was taken to where the rental vans were in the mall parking lot they were filthy dirty inside and out and very beat up. When I asked about one of the cleaner, newer ones I was told they were not available and were "owned" by Amazon and Fed Ex. Interestingly the piece of junk I got was filled with Fed Ex crap, so I guess when they beat up a budget van, individual renters like me get what's left over. The dirt covering the dashboard and vents was so bad we didn't want to turn on the air for fear we would breathe in whatever dirt and germs were inside. When we asked about why the van had not been cleaned the Franchise owner or rep (who should have his franchise license revoked) to us they were not allowed to wash cars because of Califronia restrictions. He lied and left us with no options other than to drive away with a filthy beat up vehicle and the breaks grinding against the rotors (another story but not worth my time to go into that as well). I've just had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE with Budget Van Rental at Eastridge Loop. I made an online reservation for a van to be used three days later. A few hours after making the reservation, my plans changed and I cancelled the Reservation through their website. I discovered later that my credit card was charged a $75 "No Show Fee" despite cancelling the reservation three days before the rental. I disputed the charge with my credit card. Over the course of three months, Budget Rental provided FALSE & MISLEADING information to my credit card company, disputing that I had cancelled the online reservation. These guys are CROOKS! We rented a truck from the Budget in Eastridge San Jose to move a bed. The truck itself was already disappointing. The brakes would squeal whenever you stepped on them, and then they would continue to squeal again for a few seconds after you release the brake pedal. The right sided back door would not stay open, which was a huge pain when we were trying to maneuver heavy furniture in and out. On top of that, the Budget representative who helped us had the gall to charge us an extra $35 in fees. $25 for "late return" when he clearly documented the time BEFORE he brought us to the vehicle for the walk around check and AFTER we returned to the desk from examining the vehicle again upon return. Then, when we contested the Drop Off fee since we had picked up and dropped off at the same location, the representative told us that he was a trainee so he couldn't remove the fee and we would have to call back the next day to follow-up. Well, I called the next day and the representative assured me he had removed the fee. When I asked him if there would be an email confirmation, he said "No, but you can check the website" and hung up on me! Try as I might, I cannot find anywhere on the website where I can confirm that this fee has been removed. I have no choice but to wait until the transaction goes through on my credit card and see what they charged me. From beginning to end, the Budget representatives have been unprofessional. Even when trying to calculate the mileage, the number didn't show in their computer system so he asked us to make an estimate on distance traveled! Well I ordered a truck, picked it up to drive cross country. Not a problem loaded it found out it was overloaded so I thought. Had it weighed the following morning. The payload was at max but not over. Had a mechanic from budget come out and even he said it was not overloaded but due to the set up it kind of was. Should have duels in the back but this had a single tires. According to the mechanic it was basically a box on wheels that wouldn't carry anything. When I call to upgrade they didn't have anything asked if I could just return the truck there response was sure but it would still be 3300 dollars. There customer service was we have your money and we don't care. Offered no solution as long as they had there money. So I had to find a storage center in a pinch and offload some things costing me more money. Well I get to destination unload half the stuff and still have a problem with the tires. Like the mechanic said just a box on wheels will not hold anything. What I learned from this. Budget is not a good standing business pay the extra for better quality and service read more

The truck itself was decent. This review is for the representative "Leo" Never have I encountered such rude, derisive and condescending behavior from a customer service representative. We asked about returning the truck on Sunday as it would be very difficult to return before going to work Monday morning. He insisted they were closed on Sunday for Easter and that we'd have to just return it on Monday. Upon arriving Monday morning he stated we'd be charged a late return fee for not bringing it in on Sunday. He claimed they do inventory late Sunday nights even when they were, in his own words, closed on Sunday for Easter. At no point during the rental process did Leo show an ounce of interest in being remotely helpful. I am writing this review as I do not want anyone to experience the same disrespect and disregard as I did. I have rented from this location multiple times through my corp account and given the type of truck needed this was the most convenient location. However the trucks are absolutely filthy, the service agents (especially Leo) are absolutely inconsiderate, no service skills, do not communicate effectively, and basically are lucky to have a job. On my most recent visit we rented a truck in advance in which we went to pick up the truck on our rental fay to be informed that the truck was "under maintenance " and not available. We were informed after driving 45 min to pick up the truck on our reservation day. We were told to go ahead and drive the truck but it was our issue knowing the truck needed some sort of maintenance. "Are you serious?" Drive a truck that is in need of maintenance and put myself in danger...I don't think so. I was told I would get a call in 24hrs after it was fixed. The next day I didn't receive a call so I called and once again not ready. This went on for 3 additional days. 5 days after my original reservation the Tru k was ready. I went to pick it up to identify once again the truck was disgusting, had no gas, and now I had to adjust my day to sanitize the vehicle and put gas. I returned the vehicle to the location at the end of the day be a use I would not be ae to use it for the next 2 days do to qork conflict. I returned 2 days after to pick up the truck again to identify that the truck had been vandalized in their own parking lot(yes the parking lot at the mall with security and all their other trucks). The back door to open the truck had wires removed and could not open. As I was desperate for a truck I asked for a smaller vehicle to try and help me move product for the day. I was provided an even older truck with over 200k miles and absolutely disgusting interior. After a long day I returned the vehicle and stated I would need a copy of the receipt. After being given a copy of the receipt I questioned the billing to my company as we only used the large tru k for 1 day and shouldn't be charged for a vehicle that was unable to be used. Leo immediately began yelling at me(I am a female that never once raised my voice). I stated that he needed to stop telling at me and understand that his company was ripping my company off. He threw his hands in the air and stated its not his concern, I can call corporate, and that it was my fault the truck wasn't able to work. I asked for the manager in which I saw a name "Amir" and Leo stated he isn't the manager and just laughed. Stay away from this location, they are not worth it, the trucks are terrible, and these individuals do not deserve to represent the budget company. read more
