We had an old swing out garage with springs on the edges and it was a safety concern we've wanted to fix since moving to our home. Sam gave me email quotes and then happily came out to see what we were working with. He gave us all our options on door styles, motors and door openers. We selected a simple door design, mid grade motor that comes with app connections (cool!), and asked for pin pad. The price was a good value compared to Costco and Home Depot so going with a local small business was definitely the choice for us, and we couldn't be happier! Within a week of getting the quote and visit, we paid our deposit and the crew was there installing our new garage door. The other companies said it would take 4-6 weeks or longer to get a new door and that we'd have to move our current storage racks or cut them down. Sam said we had plenty of ceiling space for a higher track installation and we didn't have to move or ruin our current storage racks. We are beyond grateful for this! I know it was a bit more work on their end, but we really appreciate being able to keep our storage racks intact. I had issues attempted to open my garage door arriving home. After several attempts I got it open and disengaged the latch and found the door slammed closed hard which lead me to the torsion spring broke. I called 3 other garage door companies on yelp and Milo at Garage Door Star was the only one to answer. He knew exactly what the issue was as I described it to him over the phone. He arrived within 30 min and installed the new spring and performed a recalibration and full maintenance on the door as well. Of course you never get a warning when your garage door springs break and it's always at the worst possible time. When I called several companies on Yelp and asked for an estimate I get the usual " We can come out no charge to look at it". Well I don't have time to sit and wait while these companies come out waste my time to give me high estimates because they know I'm tired and want it fixed now. Some when pressured quoted ridiculous prices. If you take a photo almost any job can be reasonably estimated without a visit. When I called Garage Door Star Sam immediately gave me a fair ballpark estimate. He came out about three hours later and had it repaired within an hour. He was friendly and professional. My garage door has been jumping back up for several days and will no longer remain closed. Being a decades long DIY'er I did some troubleshooting myself and diagnosed the door as being out of balance, or the spring possibly in need of replacement. There are many things I refuse to pay someone to do for me. Working on a garage spring is not one of them. It can be extremely dangerous without the right tools and knowledge, so I called Sam after finding his business online. Sam promptly responded the next day at our scheduled appointment time. Upon inspection, Sam indicated my spring was in good shape and all my door needed was a basic tune-up which is the lowest service in terms of cost. He also recommended my noisy bearings be replaced on either side of the door since they were in shambles. When he quoted me the total price, I wondered where the profit was and almost felt like negotiating up. Sam could have easily upsold me by suggesting a new spring, a new opener, or a number of other things. The man's integrity was evident when he only sold me what I needed. Once he completed the work, it was obvious he had cleaned and lubed the spring, lubed the rollers, and replaced the bearings as planned. The garage is balanced now and goes up and down with extreme stealth. Honestly, it is wicked quiet. After he left, I grabbed an adult beverage and stood in the garage while I cycled it over and over, showing off the smooth glide of my door in front of all my neighbors who were outside on the hot summer evening. Approximately 4 weeks later the doors arrived and Sam, the owner, called to setup a install date.
