    Free futon
    Tamara C.

Two great guys showed up, right on time. The job? Move out my trusty futon that I had lived with throughout my 10 year marriage, my 20 years currently living at my art deco grand studio condo downtown Portland, and take it down to the bowels of my building. Why? To make room for my fabulous new Jennifer Taylor burgundy art nuevo loveseat. The guys were great, even though they technically weren't furniture assemblymen, they did indeed assemble my loveseat. Which, in reality, was not that difficult. It was simply a matter of screwing the legs on and flipping it over and putting my stuff back where it belonged. The price was right too. But they did everything with care and with a good attitude so I was happy and tipped them. 2025 - Review #9

We had a terrible experience with Budget Movers in Jan 2025. They caused significant damage and failed to provide insurance that is required under Oregon Revised Statute 825.100. We paid $5,235 for moving services and they caused approximately $8k in damage. They have not refunded any of the charges or paid for damages. Repairing the damage to our home also delayed listing it by 2 weeks. Find a different company and ensure they offer value based insurance and have actual movers and moving trucks (not day laborers and trucks rented at Uhaul). In Jan 2025 we moved 8 miles using Budget movers. Our home is 2,900 sf, 3 bedrooms. The estimate process went well but the lead mover was not onsite during our move. There was a new lead, one person with prior moving experience and 4 hired laborers. 6 movers was too many and created chaos and disorganization that took longer. Multiple rooms and the garage were loaded at once instead of one room at a time so unloading was very time consuming. Many items were put in the wrong rooms and had to be moved again. This is despite 2 color coded labels on all items with a coordinated color-coded sign on each room. Damage Coverage: the movers did not use blankets and damaged our home and many pieces of furniture totaling $7,710. Oregon Statute requires movers to offer insurance to cover the value. This was never offered and the company did not have adequate insurance to cover our claim. We are pursuing other remedies against the company. Damages: Drywall, door frames (not protected), flooring (no protection of wood floors), headboard and dresser (hundreds of scratches, no blanket protection), broke adjustable bed bases, gauges in wood of a Murphy bed by transporting with hand truck instead of carrying (refused to remove doors and drawers so it could be carried), gauges and scratches on wood bookcase, ripped fabric hampers, hauled away to the dump new items with tags for return, failed to haul away large/awkward items in backyard they were paid to haul away (we had to hire another company). The Asphalt of our shared driveway was damaged and we are required to repair it. Hiring people to fix all the damage was time consuming, stressful, and added to our costs. This delayed listing our house for sale by 2 weeks. Moving Chaos: The disorganization and chaos was mind boggling. Red Christmas bins were in every room of the house, sports equipment (baseball bats, basketballs) were put in our primary closet, weed killer in our kids bedroom, bookcases placed sideways on top of small boxes of glass candle votives that were smashed, boxes stacked in front of doors that blocked access, sofa setup to face the door instead of the TV, muddy red rug put on carpet that got it dirty, cereal boxes wrapped in 8 layers of plastic wrap, desk placed on its side that fell. Unlike other movers that quoted our move, they required all items removed from dressers, cabinets, etc. I understand some of this but they wouldn't even allow kids coloring books inside of a locked file cabinet. Almost all our office furniture, file cabinets, etc. were put in a bedroom and we had to move all of it later. I couldn't oversee everything with 6 people doing different things. The labels were often ignored. I've hired movers numerous times and I've never experienced anything like this and it made the already stressful move much worse.

    Moving truck

Had a "moving company" show up without a truck in the morning and had try to find last minute movers. The woman on the phone was really nice and said she would see what she could do. She found a team that could squeeze in a 2 hour heavy and large furniture move. The team of 3 showed up right on time and did a great job quickly. The price was more than fair too. If I ever move again, I'll be going with Budget Movers!

Still left on read with zero apology or accountability by the owner as of six days later. Stay classy, Budget Movers.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They completely ruined my move, tried to put their employees in serious physical jeopardy, cost me nearly $1,000 for no work rendered, and are allegedly banned by multiple Portland apartment buildings because of their bad business practices. I booked with Budget to move last Friday from a 2nd story apartment in PDX to a 15th floor one just a few miles away. My first red flag was that the night before my scheduled move - which they'd already charged me a fee for - when their dispatcher called to ask me if I could move my move for them (!!!!). I said no, reiterating again that I'm moving into a unit on the 15th floor, and the moving elevators were booked prior to my time slots that day, which I'd stated in every prior convo. They said okay, they'd come at their scheduled time, and it wouldn't be a problem. My partner and I both had taken the day of our move fully off - 16 hours of PTO burnt between us so we could do this move. Thirty minutes before they were set to arrive, I got a call that they were running 6-8 hours late. This meant that I now would be doing my move around 9pm on a Friday night, with no elevators reserved in either building. This news set off a flurry of work for me, trying desperately to coordinate between both buildings to try to reschedule the elevator reservations. The building I'm leaving couldn't do it, but the one I'm moving into took mercy and agreed to book the off hours evening time for us. Nearly six hours go by, with no contact from dispatch. I finally call them. They dance around it and then finally inform me that they will not be sending me any movers for my move at any time that day - after we waited at home the entire day until nearly 6pm expecting them to be there then. They push to do the move the next day instead (Saturday), and I explained that this was impossible as there would be no availability to reserve the elevator in the building I was moving into, and I was not willing to have their employees be put in the extreme danger of moving huge pieces of furniture by foot up 15 floors on the stairs. When I expressed how frustrating each part of this was, the only remedy offered was that they volunteered to throw in an extra mover for the next day to move my things up 15 floors by foot. I stated that this was unacceptable and I would not allow them to endanger their employees in this way. I'm considering reporting them to OSHA for clear labor violations. Ultimately I asked for my money back since zero services were rendered, and I booked with a different company days later when we could get elevator reservations synced up again. I can't express how unprofessional this company is, and how much it impacted me - and COST ME MONEY - for them to completely ruin my move. I'm now half a week behind, with family arriving for the holidays and no time to get our new home ready. We lost 16 hours of PTO because of this company failing to even show up on our confirmed moving day after they took our deposit, which they certainly did not offer to compensate us for. I lost hundreds more and many hours of time on sunk costs for other contractors who I could no longer keep my appointments for after Budget completely cancelled our move with no notice - including people scheduled to mount furniture in the new place, folks scheduled to do clean outs of the old one, and other vendors with work related to the move. Icing on the cake is that as I shared what Budget did to me with both buildings involved in my move, I learned from staff that one of the two involved had them on a ban list because of the extent of predatory and dishonest practices they'd repeatedly subjected other residents to in my building. They knew the dispatcher by name as soon as I mentioned the company, and told me horror stories of them lying about move times, locking residents out of their move times when they ran behind, two of their movers walking off the job mid move because of their treatment of them, and more. I'm guessing any positive reviews here are from people moving deep in the Burbs. This company cannot handle moving within the city, when there are deadlines to meet and more challenging logistics. I'm sure they'll respond to this review to try to spin it or pretend to care, so here's a note I sent them sharing these problems the day it happened, where the owner very classily left me on read and never bothered to respond when I first went to him in private over my horrible experience. Bottom line: DON'T TRUST THEM. They CANCELLED MY MOVE day or after they were 6 hours late, they cost me over a grand in lost PTO and cancellation fees for other services, and they made this by far the most stressful move and holiday of my life. I've moved cross country multiple times and done moves in many major cities - never, ever had an experience as bad (or bad at all) as this before.

Two Asian dudes showed up, barely spoke to me, one would only speak his own language while the other would then speak to me in English. They rudely took pics of my apartment, then went and sat back in their truck. After about 20 minutes, the guys came out and said they couldn't do the move because it was "unsafe". Prior to that it was because I had too many small items, and in between that I was told it was because I asked for 3 hours and they'd need 7-9 hours. I called dispatch again and told Karina she sent me two racist movers. She claimed that couldn't be. I explained my stance and she said she'd call me back. Meanwhile, I have no way to move my stuff. Karina said she would talk with her moving team and call me back. Guess what? She never did. I guess you get great service when you have the right skin color. Move your stuff yourself and save the headache. The worst company ever and I don't see how Yelp recommends them. I'm disgusted.

Update: 50% refund…read more Yeah, don't go with these guys. i had specific instructions for my move both to the rep on the phone (xavier he's great) and to them directly. all were not really cared for properly. I should have just gotten my friends and a uhaul to move, but i was promised it would take 5hrs. i was billed 5.5hrs. tip top of the money i had left. and they didn't even have time to move everything. why? because their recklessness with my things i didn't want them carrying my computer monitors. they were hired to pack and move stuff across portland. they came at 1:30 when they said only to tell me that they didn't know they needed all the packing stuff. they eventually arrived nearly 2hrs later and towards the END Of the original window i was promised without any 'hey we will be there at this ETA' they said they got stuck behind a train, which is fine i guess? but no update after that until i called and complained, which got me a 5% discount, which is nice i guess? but like everything that happened after were MASSIVE red flags, both for the computer and the 'movers' which felt like contractors they just hired for whatever without properly vetting. i had a small move, 2 rooms. they were the slowest movers and most reckless movers i've ever hired. but i don't really blame them fully for that. supposedly they were working since 8am and just drove up from salem or something. they didn't even eat lunch. is that even legal?! no wonder they came to the door exhausted already and out of it. These 2 guys did the best they could, but honestly with how exhausted I was from helping them (something i SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO DO), they were doing a good job, but that doesn't really matter. In the end this guy ruined my $2000 custom built standing desk for music. not sure if i can get it repaired or fixed. he undid it and said he will put it back together. it was pretty easy just a few bolts into the joints between the wooden top and the legs and putting on the keyboard tray. easy stuff for the most part (when you have a drill, i don't own one). this guy didn't even look at where he was drilling or understand how the desk was put together after showing him specific things. he just drilled in the bolts and they hit a part that they're supposed to go into but was put in backwards making it impossible (on purpose) to get the screw in. this guy just kept drilling harder and harder and when i asked him about it he was like yeah it's supposed to sound like that. He either was so exhausted he couldn't think straight or just took on tasks he could have said 'yeah i don't know how to do that, can you do it?' either way now i have a broken desk that's only partially built and put together. i am really glad i moved all of my expensive stuff to my place with a friend last weekend, because they definitely would have broken a lot of very expensive things! I also gave them a mattress cover to put on the mattress, and they struggled doing that. You are movers wtf?! i zipped it up about half way and moved on. Then when we got to my new place they didn't even use it and put the mattress on the pavement to get a better angle or something. like what was the point in bringing it?! They also dropped a bunch of precious memories i had in a bin in a bin, they said they took them out because the outer bin couldn't close (bs). They were holding it open wrapped around their arm and i asked them to close it as it doesn't look secure and he said it would be fine, then immediately drops it with pictures and papers dropping on the ground and getting dirty. Anyway this all just happened. and there's no way I can live in my new place due to the lack of time they afforded to me to actually place things in the right spot. At least my bed is in the right spot. luckily for now i am in a short term rental because my last place had mold and why I am moving. i am highly allergic and being there as long as i did, both to wait for them to show up and how slowly they worked on loading the truck, I am feeling sick again because of it. The estimate was low balled to say the least because these guys move at a snails pace because this company overworks them and treats likely their staff like crap. these are probably more desperate people looking for an easy pay day. one guy was like 'i worked 4 days this month' and the other one worked 6 days in a row. a 12 hr day without a break outside of driving (which isn't a break) isn't really fair or legal? I paid nearly 1k for this move, and you can't afford to give these people a proper break between moves? I'm sure they weren't making nearly enough either. Lastly they pressured me to sign a thing at the end of the receipt that says everything was delivered intact, which i didn't sign. Anyway go with another company, not worth the risk. I didn't have another weekend to do this move as i need to have a livable space and that takes time as well. Anyway the movers were careless, slow, expensive, and ignored instructions.

The rep said turning it sideways to get it thought the door was a special event somehow and that I would have to sign some papers. Seriously, I'm paying $700 to move a 350 pound object from the parking lot into my apartment. All Service Moving should bake the liability into the cost. If they drop it and I can't fix it, I'm willing to eat the $3k to buy a new one but they should at least agree to haul the old one away and move in the next one for free.

I scheduled a move within the same apartment complex. This was not a cross-town move--it was a transfer between two apartments approximately 200 feet apart with identical floor plans. I was given a 10:00-11:00 AM arrival window. The crew did not arrive until approximately 2:30 PM, more than three hours late. During that time, I received no meaningful updates and spent the day waiting. When the crew finally arrived, only three movers showed up instead of the four-person crew I expected. Rather than arriving with a plan, they immediately expressed doubts about completing the move. The manager's response to the delay was disappointing and dismissive. When I explained that the delay was seriously impacting my day, I did not feel that the situation was being taken seriously. Ultimately, the move was not completed. I had to make alternative arrangements, hire additional help on my own, and spend the weekend moving and unpacking largely by myself. What is most frustrating is that I specifically hired a professional moving company to avoid exactly this situation. Instead, the late arrival, staffing issues, and lack of communication turned what should have been a straightforward apartment transfer into a stressful and exhausting experience. I understand that delays can happen. What I cannot understand is the lack of communication, accountability, and customer service after the delay occurred. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location.

Two moves, and I'm going to be very generous with 2 stars…read more The first move took much, much longer than it should have with three guys, and they unfortunately didn't realize I grew up speaking Spanish (I'm mixed but white presenting) and said some highly unfavorable things for professionals. While the guy who did my paperwork seemed nice, it was way over the top like he was trying to ingratiate himself with me for a better tip. The questions he was asking me were personal and invasive and just left me feeling uncomfortable and wanting to get away from him. Unfortunately this is the reality of being a woman, often, is men mistake your kindness for familiarity when he should have just stuck to being a professional doing his job. This second, and LAST move I will ever hire Bridgetown for, I booked a move with three guys and the same size truck as my previous move. I specifically wanted a company who knew how much stuff I had (we ran out of room, the first time, and I had to leave several items behind). The issues started at booking, when my estimate arrived with my deposit, and the quote read $0...I checked in with Devon and she said my move was still booked, the quote was just a system error (but didn't fix the issue of an hourly rate for 3 guys...but ok...), the confirmation text I received a a few days before my move caused me minor panic because she listed the wrong date...OOPS her bad, but it's fine, all is well, ok... But, the day comes, and TWO men show up with a much smaller than expected truck. I ask about the 3rd guy? Oh well yea his work order says it's supposed to be 3, the paperwork he hands me says 3...I call Devon and yep oops "Dispatch" (aka one of the owners apparently?) "made a mistake and sent the wrong crew due to a paperwork mixup." Folks, when I tell you this would have been an absolutely nightmarish scenario that would have cost me my last shred of sanity due to all the BS I've been dealing with, it can't be underestimated how p'd off I was. Luckily for me, I have terrible anxiety and bc my last move took so many hours, I haven't been able to sit still and had taken *sixteen* carloads of moving bags over myself before the movers ever arrived. I wanted this move to go so much smoother than the last, and I had two afternoon appointments for various maintenace and install issues with my new house that day of the move. I booked three men and huge truck specifically to make the move fast and easy. If I had not absolutely destroyed my body (thank you, anxiety, for apparently seeing the future and that something would in fact massively go wrong) taking allllll that stuff myself over two weeks after I got my keys on the 1st, there is ZERO shot everything would have fit on the truck, not even half my stuff would have fit. And as a reminder, I specifically booked Bridgetown because they had an inventory from my previous move. I was in the end charged the minimum rate, to "apologize" for the "mixup," but having to explain to Devon and to the two man crew why this was all so frustrating and upsetting is insane to me. I booked 3 guys, giant truck, with BM specifically who had my inventory because I knew how much stuff I had to move. They caused me at least 10 more gray hairs that day. I will never, ever, be using your services again.
