Loss damage waiver fees that were not explained to me
    Jenn C.

I wanted to redeem Air Miles for a car rental and Budget was the only option so I did it. We arrived around 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed with people waiting to pick up their vehicle, with only two agents working. It took about 30 minutes to get to the front of the line and I'm sure it would have been much longer if they hadn't added two more agents halfway through the wait. The agent was friendly enough. However, he did not go over a single thing with us. I realize this is partly my error and should have asked, but this is after 6 hours of travelling with an infant and toddler who are getting to the end of their patience, so when he said to just initial in the various spots, we did. Turned out we 'accepted' a loss damage waiver of $32.99/day, adding another $230 to our rental cost. This was never explained to us - he didn't mention that this is optional, and when he took our credit card to make the payment, he didn't mention how much he was charging us. So folks, be warned - be vigilant about going over the fine print! On the plus side, the car we got was clean and fine to us. And thankfully they had infant and toddler car seats available, as reserved, but the toddler one wasn't on site so the agent had to call someone to bring it over. But then he forgot to come out and give it to us so we wasted more time waiting for this. The seats were the flimsiest things though - I couldn't get the baby car seat secured as tight as necessary, the straps were so hard to tighten and loosen, and they cut into my baby's neck. The toddler seat straps were very awkward to use too. If you have the ability to, I'd recommend bringing your own car seat on the plane.

Written proof of the vehicle I was given (NOT A TAHOE) and the starting mileage, along with the person who issued it at Punta Gorda, FL

Update: The manager at the Alamo Punta Gorda location…read morereached out to me, determined to make this right, and he did. Thank you, Tim. *** Original Post: This was the worst customer service I ever experienced, and I'm a very experienced traveler. The customer service representative asked me where I would be staying during my visit. I didn't understand the purpose of the question, which struck me as invasive so I asked for clarification on why they needed to know... i.e., was it a policy, required, etc. The employee put her hand on her hip and sarcastically responded, "'Cause I'm about to give you one of our $30,000 vehicles.. So I need to know where you'll be." I said again I wanted to understand the policy before I would give out personal information. She repeated the same sarcastic answer. I asked to speak with her manager. When the manager came over I explained the situation. The employee said I was cussing at her. Now I had said she was being a smart ass, although I'm not sure that constitutes "cussing" at someone. The employee continued to be rude in front of the manager, snickering, making scoffing noises, and otherwise goading me. I asked the manager, who is Melissa Natanni if she was observing this rude behavior and Ms. Natanni said she would not honor the reservation since I had used the word ass, and that made her uncertain as to whether or not I would be safe to drive. And so Alamo would not honor the reservation I had made weeks ago. I called the 800-number and they said they were powerless to override franchise decisions but that they were sorry for the poor customer service I received and would escalate my complaint. However, since it was Friday evening, no one would get back to me until the following week. All around, the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

It has taken over 20 minutes for them to bring this monster size vehicle around and I am still waiting. They ran out correct of the correct vehicles for everybody who was in line. The whole thing is a hot mess. They don't know how to keep a reservation. I just want to take my kids to my mom's house and I'm sitting here waiting at 12:47 in the morning. The guy said that I can exchange the vehicle tomorrow perhaps but that involves a lot of work on my part is a giant pain in the butt.

My worst experience at a car rental agency! Went to pick up…read moremy rental and was told they had no vehicles. Mind you I made a reservation days in advance. No email, no text ,no call saying they had no vehicles. Instead I show up for nothing and sit there for an hour while the two employees just stand there , not sure if a car would ever come in. In 20 years of renting vehicles this is a first, and a huge inconvenience. I definitely will never return to this location or enterprise as a whole and go with another company. BEWARE of you rent here, you may be next.

This experience was just off from the start. I did everything right on my part to make it as smooth…read moreand quick as possible. I'm an emerald club member, did the precheck in stuff. Had my code ready as I walked in. There were three working. Not one greeted me when I walked in. When I finally got to talk to someone I felt like I wasn't even there half the time. Twice during my check in she answered the phone and stayed on the phone helping the person all the while I'm sitting right in front of her thinking, I'm right here, shouldn't you be helping me? Check in took over a half hour even though I had everything pre filled out and should have just signed and drove. Ok the car, yes they did give me a Mini Cooper and I thought it was going to be fun. Turned out to be the biggest worry of the trip. So as I have never driven one of these I didn't really know what was supposed to be lit on the dash. I saw the brake lite on as we were leaving so stopped down the road to check that I didn't have the parking brake on. It was not so just continued the hour drive to where we were staying. The next day after I turn the car on, a warning comes on saying there is a problem with the brakes and drive moderately. You have to hit a nob to turn this off and get to the radio. So instead of driving to explore the area, I only used the car when we absolutely had to. We worried when we drove that we wouldn't be able to stop in an emergency. When I dropped the car back off, again a mess. I stood in the middle of the room without an person saying they will be right with me. After awhile, this lady walked in behind me and the girl at the desk immediately asks if she is dropping off. I actually had to say, I've been standing here this whole time trying to drop the car off. That got her to help me. Wow what horrible service. Now when I got to talk to them. I tell them about the brakes. They tried to sell me this story that they just had the car to a garage and they must have forgotten to reset the light. Now this is total BS, what garage would fix brakes and forget to clear the warning. I told them this much and the fact that when you turn the car on, you have to take a step to clear the message on the screen. Which was done as it wasn't there when we first got in. I got no explanation about this. At this point we had no time and had to get to the airport. Avoid this location if you can.
