2 stars for low price and proximity to home (convenience). For the second time, we booked online and showed up at the appointed time to get the car. When we got there--no cars! We were told to come back 20 minutes later. It seems wrong that if we've reserved a car, it not be there. Isn't that the whole purpose of reservations? Finally got the car 1 1/2 hours later and it was smaller than the one we'd booked on Hotwire for. AND, the guy at the counter offered a 10% discount but price was even higher than Hotwire quote even after the discount was applied! Shame on me for being too lazy to drive to Burbank Airport or LAX. read more

So I was reallllly worried about renting a car from this place with all the reviews I had read. But you know what it turned out great! Me and my husband rented a weekend car. We show up to the place and I peek into the lot and see that they only have vans but we rented a full size vehicle. So I check in and the guy is really nice. I ask him which one is our car and he states "good question". I start to worry but at the corner of my eye I notice that they have an SUV. So that's what he gave us! A nice SUV because they have no full size cars available. So in my case everything turned out GREAT! read more

I have rented from this location for well over 5 years. The vehicle was reliable and clean. The discrepancy came with paperwork Rafael provided in contrast to the inspection paper work. The printed receipt said a full tank ( which I did not notice ). The inspection paper which details the scratches and gas in the tank read 6/8 ( which translates to 3/4 of a tank. ) When I returned the vehicle and brought this to Rafael's attention he dismissed me, said his co-worker made a mistake, then questioned my integrity when he asked if I altered the paperwork. Please be aware of this business by confirming the paperwork is accurate. read more

Beware - go elsewhere! Booked on line - get to the branch - no vehicle. It showed up 30 minutes later - no compensation and nothing friendly about these folks! On the way to return the vehicle I filled the tank up but the gas gauge would only go to the edge of full. I advised the same unfriendly employee of the problem and she told me she had to charge me. When I looked at my bill it was for 21 dollars - so much for $8 per gallon. Here is the BIGGEST issue. This is the only rental location I have ever seen that insisted on photocopying and keeping copies of our passports and drivers licenses. When asked what they do with the imformation the answer was they just keep it on file. Something seriously wrong with privacy here. What a bonus for someone looking to break in to grab private info! During this same trip we also booked another vehicle at the Burbank rental location. No private docs photocopied! Never again - go somewhere else - zero stars! read more

Don't rent a car from here. I tried to rent my wife a car from here. I paid for it on line, bought the insurance, got my receipt saying it was paid in full, credit card was charged, my wife shows up to get the car and she is denied. The point of paying for a car online is to make it an easy pick up but the "corporate" policy is they need a card at pick up. She has a debit/credit card and that wasn't good enough for them. The car was already paid for and had been billed to my credit card. Long story even longer no one can refund the money to my card at the local branch. So they give me the Budget 800 number, I called it only to be disconnected after being on hold for 20 minutes. I finally got a person on the line, he took forever and I was about done when I was disconnected again. I received an email saying I will be refunded the amount of the rental minus a $100.00 no show fee! We only needed the car for one day so that's more then the price of the rental and she did show up. Budget is the worst rental car business I have ever dealt with and I have dealt with hundreds. Go anywhere but here. read more

Car broke down on July 4th and I needed a rental the next day for work. I made a reservation on line since all the stores were closed. I needed a place that opened early. I arrived at 7:25am. Andrew greeted me and was expecting me and knew I had reserved a small car. He said it would be a 15 minute wait since the car had not arrived yet. He knew I was in a rush to get to work. After about 10 minutes later he told me the car would likely not come for a while and offered me a larger vehicle with no extra charge. I was on the road by 7:45am. Andrew is the best. Efficient, friendly, professional! When I returned the car, surprisingly he remembered me and asked me if my car had been fixed. What a great guy. read more

There is a reason that there are no recent reviews for this place. Terrible customer service as well as being dishonest. They appear to be running some kind of scam on people who decline insurance. I rented a car through Hotwire for a one day rental. I specifically asked for a subcompact bus they insisted that they only had this one SUV available. After I returned the car, checked out, and was half way home, I got a call to say that the windshield was "cracked" and that I needed to return immediately. In a panic, I went back to the office (my mistake). They pointed to an imperceptible chip on the windshield that was likely there when I picked up the car (I took pictures) and when I refused to fill out an accident report (because there was no accident) they told me that they would submit a report with "just our side of the story" so I filled out the report (2nd mistake?) and called my credit card company and Hotwire (who were closed). Ironically, another customer approached me as I was finishing up to let me know that she had also declined insurance and been accused of damaging a car that same morning! STAY AWAY and don't book through Hotwire... read more

I can't say this for every rental services out there, but this is one of the more interesting experiences I had in a while. Originally I booked a 12 seater from Avis last Friday (in my mind, I thought it was the new 2017 Ford Transit), but at the time of pickup, it was actually an older Chevy Express... This was meant for attending the Rise Lantern Festival in Vegas, with my elderly grandparents. Andrew was quick on his feet and asked if I'd be interested to exchange it at another Pasadena location down the street. Without hesitation, I went straight for it, only to find out my friends were also renting the same van. As a result, I had to find another location which offered the 12 seat Ford Transit, boom, LAX showed up on my search (I'll get back to this location in a bit), called an associate at LAX and told me there were six of those vans, telling me I should be "fine". Without too much hope, my party got there within 40min, told the Returns associate my situation and he signed my original contract and said "the guys inside will take care of this." After patiently waiting in line for an hour, I spoke with this "operation manager", who clearly hated his life, without looking at my contract told me they had nothing... asked me to go back in the car I came from, but his staff has already taken my original van away. He then asked and gestured why I was stupid enough to let someone take the car away!? It was only when I told him I'm gonna record our conversation that he changed his attitude and "found" me the car I was asking for. The whole ordeal lasted 3.5 hours! The reason why I brought this up was because when returning my vehicle back to this Pasadena location, Andrew found out that LAX guys tried to charge $250 worth of "full tank of gas" on me, he immediately took ownership and reached out to his back office and got the whole charge reversed, plus I got $2 back lol My experience went from pleasant to horrible to GREAT! All because of the hardworking gentleman who took ownership and listened to his customers! The ratings at this location may not have been great because of previous management, but I'm looking forward to seeing these guys again! Ask for ANDREW, he'll take care of you! read more

We booked a car with two pairs of keys. The keys came bound by a steel bracelet, so YOU CAN'T SEPARATE THEM. What's the point of having two keys to your car if you can't separate them? I called Wendy for an explanation. She seemed impatient and kept repeating "They [the New York central??] want the keys back so you can't separate them". After a lot of back-and-forth I understood Budget thinks people will loose the keys if they're not bound together. Guess what geniuses, if the keys aren't bound, maybe people could at least keep one and bring you the car back as opposed to calling roadside. After more back-and-forth, Wendy reluctantly told me that each lost key costs $500, but breaking the bracelet is just $50. But she seems confident that breaking the magic steel bracelet will make me loose the keys. Ridiculous customer service, very rude and tried their best to withhold information from me. We got a nice car though, so 3 stars. read more

I've been renting from this location for about 15 years. Nothing but good dealings with all the staff. Seems like all complaints I witness and read are online and 800 number related. I always call them direct or go in person. Today I was proud of Wendy the CSR and Rico, the manager when they handled a situation with an upset customer who had damaged a car and wasn't even the registered renter of the vehicle. I've never rented a car before. But my car needed some work, that I've been postponing over and over again. My wife needed to go to work and pick up the kids on regular basis on her new car -which we bought from Hertz Pasarena-, so I decided to use the points earned due to the purchase... I went to the very same location: 1. Nobody was able to redeem my points, and the Asian gentleman at the front desk, was not friendly at all! 2. I had to make a 24 hrs reservation beforehand. 3. They only had a mini van available. AND, 4 It was $163.00 per day... Are you F....Great kidding me? WE JUST BOUGHT A CAR FROM YOU, GUYS! My wife suggested Budget. She has rented once before with them on behalf of the Hotel she works at. Well, we called and Bryan was very professional and helpful through the phone. With my wife's ID , th same rate applied to me as well! Even without that discount, the price and availability of cas to rent, was way better than Hertz. So, for rate ranges, selection of vehicles, convenience and friendly business... We will stay with Budget! Too bad you guys don't sale cars... read more

i have never recieved service this bad in as long as i can remember. i reserved a car over the phone through their 800 number and the service was great. i walked into this office and there were three workers behing the desk that were busy in conversation, on on the phone (the manager), the other on texting on her cell phone and in verbal conversation with the third. i walked up to the desk with little eye contact from them and the third employee asked me in a short manner "can i help you with something?". as if i was there to promote services or sell them a car!! anyway, the whole transaction this worker acted annoyed he had to do his job. when he went outside to get my car. he just handed me the keys without a walk around. i was uncomfortable with the fact that i could potentially be charged for scratches that were already on the car so i asked him if we were supposed to do a walk around. he mumbled under his breath and said that it doesnt matter anyway (despite the fact or not, i feel he should have been accommodating). through this rental process. the other two workers continued with what they were doing (talking on the phone and texting) without even lifting a brow to acknowledge me. well, i left the rental office in astonishment because i could not understand how a manager could act that way let alone her employees who were sitting right beside her! i got a low cost rental which was good, since it served its purpose, but i got a really bad experience out of it at the same time read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! One employee was exceptionally rude. We returned the car after a two-week trip to California with our kids. We cleaned out the car before returning. The Budget employee accused us of trashing the car and returning it "exceptionally dirty". She said that we needed to return the car in the exact same state as we received it. She then threatened to charge us for cleaning the car and removing a stain on the seat that was already there! We refused and she eventually relented, saying that we should count ourselves lucky. It is rare to encounter such an awful and rude person. We have typically gone to Enterprise on Fair Oaks and we'll be sure to go back next time. read more

Its ironic we had actually bought our LA fitness membership previously from Bryan. We were surprised but happy to see him working here. We had rented the top level suv which in budgets categories is a ford explorer or equivalent. The day of rental that car was not available so instead we got an ESCALADE. Bryan was very helpful in explaining all those luxury gadgets those of us who consider a ford explorer a luxury vehicle was not aware of. Needless to say our trip to Vegas was significantly enhanced thanks to Bryan and budget. read more

Rented a car at this place. When I got the car I saw the interior of the car was dirty; I even showed it to the rental car guy who didn't even apologized and he just ignored it. When I got the car somehow a dash board message "Inspection needed" lighted up. When I returned the car one day earlier the front desk didn't even give me a break for returning earlier. I reported the problem with the "inspection needed" warning and the guy just shrugged his shoulders saying that is nothing. I told him it was scary through my entire trip with this car. He said no big deal that is nothing. Horrible customer services and horrible cars for rentals. I will never rent from this place ever! read more

The car was so dirty. They hadn't received their delivery of sedans for the day and I arrived early. I decided to just use a car they had ready, which was a minivan. It was so gross. The exterior was filthy and the inside smelled like a dry cleaners. The last hour of my 5.5 hour drive, the engine light came on. Will not use this company again. read more

Great prices and found John to be extremely helpful and genuinely made an effort to make sure my car rental experience went smoothly. Because of this I am a return client. I have also dealt with Ryan, and he also delivers very good customer service. I recommend you pay with your MC credit card and skip the insurance add on fees, even if you have your own insurance. MC will cover accidental costs when you pay with their card should this happen. Call and check for your own credit card benefits and details and also the limits per accidents a year. read more

The worst customer service ever!! No one tried to fix the situation or try to be a little accommodating. I have been in customer service for 16 years and have never ever treated or thought of treating anyone the way we were treated when we went to pick up our rental car to take a trip to visit family for Christmas. We reserved and paid for the rental on their website. The emailed confirmation states that you need the confirmation and your ID to pick up the rental. We get there to pick up the car and the employee tells us that we now need to pay an additional $200 on top of the car rental which already included the deposit! We asked for a manager or customer service representative and the employee stood there like he had no idea what we were saying or what to do next. We asked for customer service phone number or contact name, the employee had no idea. We told him we were going to cancel our reservation and how long would the refund take. He said, oh, OK. I don't know how long it will take to credit your card back. HE WAS OK WITH US CANCELING OUR RESERVATION!! Talk about customer service no-no! So we have now canceled the reservation for the car and are waiting for our refund. OH YEAH, AND NO CHRISTMAS WITH THE GRANDPARENTS!!! THANKS A LOT BUDGET!!! I was returning from a job matter, and I called ahead (not to the 800 number) and spoke to a woman to ask if it was possible for her to wait a extra minute or two. I was told no way. Fine. I mean, it's not how a neighborhood place would treat you, but fine. I busted myself and got there exactly at closing time. Lo and behold the entire place was dark, the gate locked, the woman gone, gone, gone. It felt like a deliberate slap in the face. Then I couldn't return the car the next day and got charged for two extra days while the car sat in my driveway. When I returned the car and tried to get one of those two days taken off, there was a guy who was going to do it, but the woman took my paperwork from him, and then proceeded to refuse to take one of the days off. And was nasty about it. I will never go here again, and I will never use Budget again. Booooo. Just horrible. Worst consumer experience I have had in three years, anywhere. read more

Had a reservation for 1:00pm, received a call at 11:30am saying that they were running 2 hours behind & had no cars. I was told that they would call as soon as a car came in and surprise never received the call. So, around 5:00pm I went to the place & once inside I stated that I had a car reservation, was told they were running 2 hours behind, & I would be the first one they called when a car came in, the clerks said nothing, just made a noise. They took my name & one went to the back to ask the manager if they should give me the Camry or Mini Cooper. My reservation was for a Camry or similar, so when the clerk asked for my license I said not for a Mini Cooper, then the clerk said I will rent you the Camry. After getting my license & credit card the clerk told me he had to give me a Hyundai Elantra. I had not driven one, so I took it, mistake, no power & the back window view is blocked by the headrests. No question about it, if you have a low quote for your reserved car, they put you at the bottom of the list and give you the cheapest car possible. They cut my was to be 5 day vacation to the bay area, to a 4 day vacation, due to no car on the lot, so they said. I sure there was a car on the lot just not in my quoted price range. So, really the place ripped my off. As someone else stated go to the airport, they do not have the no car problem or the problem of giving you the quoted price on your reservation.
